Hey guys!
As i'm sure most of you are aware you can get a 50GB free box account with your touchpad. But you can easily create MULTIPLE accounts by simply logging out in the app and creating a new account. Then you have 100GB free over 2 accounts!
You can add both or more box accounts to your touchpad accounts anyway
Just thought I'd share
Is there any kind of desktop sync software, like what Dropbox gives you? If not, maybe I'll just use Box as long-term storage for things I'm not using regularly. Clever idea about the multiple accounts by the way

Box.net don't provide one without changing your subscription to a paid one. But software such as Gladinet will allow you to mount it as a drive in windows. You can also add multiple accounts too

If you are running Windows, you can use WebFolders. It doesn't give you sync, but you can drag & drop files in and out of box.net with explorer. Just google 'box.net webfolders'.

I tried that, but couldn't get it to work. It connected but wouldn't allow me to upload anything!
Still Gladinet works perfectly and is free
It says with the free edition of Gladinet that you only get 1000 file transfers per task...Any idea what this means??

From what I gather it means you can't say paste more than 1000 things at once. I have uploaded 30GB of photos in a batch without any problems
I uploaded about 2GB of photos to box.net thinking that I can look at them on the TP. However, when I go to look at them on the TP's box.net, it is so slow to the point where I can't scroll the pictures filename list. And there is no preview or miniturized picture icon so you know what you are looking at (like on a PC). To see the picture you have to click each filename and wait for the whole file to download. The process is painfully slow. Guess it's only good for "parking" your files.
Also there is a filesize limit of 25MG unless you pay. This makes it all a bit of a waste of time for me, even Microsoft Skydrive is better (although has no app).

Did you mean 25MB? If it was 25GB that would be awesome lol. But if you did mean 25MB, then you are wrong, on 50GB accounts, the filesize limit is 1GB per file, trust me I've already tested this and it works

<blush> yes I meant 25MB. I created a box.net account on my PC before my touchpad arrived then logged into it on my Touchpad & assumed that this would upgrade my account. Then I tried to upload a couple of video files from my PC but got an error message about the 25MB size limit. My account settings show a 50GB capacity. Where am I going wrong?
PS their website states:
The free personal account has a file size limit of 25 megabytes. Please note that you can fill your 5 gigabytes of space with as many files as will fit, but no one file may exceed 25 megabytes. To remove this restriction, you may upgrade to a paid account which will allow you to upload files as large as one gigabyte.

That is really odd, I've successfully uploaded files that are nearly 100MB in size with no problems, I haven't had the patience to do any movies etc yet. I would try creating a brand new account on your touchpad and see if that still has problems. Maybe there is an issue converting your current account.
I'll ss when I get to work, but my max filesize was 1gb.
Nope, I created a new account directly from the TP after uninstalling & reinstalling the app, still get the same error message.

I'm doing a test with a much bigger file right now, and so far it is working successfully and has already surpassed 25mb.
Can you confirm that you have created the new account from the BOX.NET application which was downloaded from the HP App Store?

Hey All,
Just wanted to update this thread to say that a few people on PreCentral had a very similar problem to the OP, and it seems that BOX.NET has changed it's terms for newer registered users.
It seems that if you register now, you get put on a 'LITE 5GB' account, this means that while you still have your 50GB, you can only upload up to 100MB per file.
Those that have the 1GB files size limit should have accounts called 'Personal +50GB'
You can check this by logging into BOX.NET, then going into My Account, then Settings, and scrolling all the way to the bottom of the screen. Would be curious to know what it says for you guys. Hope this helps!
Account type: Lite (5GB)
Max file size: 100 MB
edit:
i also noticed you can't directly link you image unless you upgrade
Follow the steps to increase the Dropbox size by 640MB.
1. Sign into your existing Dropbox account (or create a new account)
2. Click on the link: https://www.dropbox.com/free
3. Follow the 5 instructions given there and get 128MB each for completing each task.
So you get 640MB (128*5) additional free storage
UPDATE:
Try this method also to get more free space. Upto 5 GB

DropBox <3
i heard htc sense 4.0 smartphones will be offering a 50gb. dropbox acc. so we have to wait a little more then we can change our device ids to newer htc devices & might get 50gb. acc.
similarly we got 50gb. box accounts

No body tried this?
I just put some some mp4 files in my DCIM folder and made Dropbox to autoupload. Got 5 GB more free space in my account.
it worked for me too
just record a 30-35 min video @ max resolution and quality (or whatever it takes for your phone/camera to generate a 4gb file) and let dropbox upload it using the "camera upload" function -> 5gb of space free!
Sony Ericsson had an offer
I got 50 gigs for lifetime, free

Thanks for this Bud!
I also have the Box free upgrade... My only problem with Box is it doesnt have a Sync installer for Personal accounts. You have to upgrade to business...this means that you have to access the files using a web browser... It fine with me but my wife(who is not that computer savvy) is having a hard time with it.
For me, Dropbox is still the best!
Login to the box app from an android device any you'll automatically get upgraded to 50 GB of free storage!
This has been available for the iDevices as well.
One caveat to keep in mind, the app to do automatic syncing between desktop and Box, Box Sync, is only available to Box Business and Enterprise customers. Is not available for free accounts, even the 50G ones
Means you either have to use the web interface to access files on Box, or find a third party app that will do the desktop integration. I have used an app called Transmit on the mac to sync to do that.
I prefer dropbox I have to admit and have a paid account there. Having an extra 50GB is a nice place for dumping stuff I don't need cluttering up other places tho
Andym
don't forget you can't upload files bigger than 200mb I believe it's pretty much 50 useless gb. can only stream music so I guess if you use it for that. or to waste their bandwidth to host your <200mb files. I think you get 10gb a month

I got the account just because, hey, 50gb storage. Gonna backup my music collection there, just so I don't lose it again (lost/corrupted huge amounts of music in recent months). Easier than carrying around an extra hdd.
The upload limit is 100mbs not 200mbs which just isnt high enough plus the no desktop synching app makes this useless for me so yeah I will be sticking with dropbox even tho I only have 2gbs but the 2gb is all I really need since I just use it for apps for my nook tablet for sideloading apps that do not appear in the market.
do you mean dropbox? i still have 2G after login on nt?
Different program.

Hi everyone I was wondering how to activate my free 50gb from dropbox?
I download the app and logged in with my account but it still shows that I have 2gb of storage. Thanks in advance for your help

My understanding is that u only get the 50gb free space if it came pre installed on your device. Since u had to download it, you do not get 50gb. Only 2gb
Just watch for deals on dropbox website. I didn't have my drop box preloaded on old phone but they had a deal if you did like 5 out of 7 things it updated to 50gb for free. It was things like upload a picture to your account, send an email to invite someone else to Dropbox (i sent it to my alt email address and it counted) add dropbox to a PC you own. It was things like that and you needed to really involve no one else to get the 50GB free.
Maybe they don't do that anymore but I'd just keep an eye for it.
Did not apply for the Verizon S4, I had them tell me personally when I sent a message to support.

i did something similar to this the other day. 5 out of the 7 tasks were performed, but it only increased me from 2gb to 3.25gb. each task gave you like 250mb or something. still better than nothing, but 50gb would be awesome.
well, I did this with dropbox like 6 months ago maybe? so maybe a xmas/december deal? idk
Don't get too excited - it doesn't last
Don't get too excited about your 'FREE' 50 Gb of storage at dropbox
IT ONLY LASTS FOR 2 YEARS. In DropBox look in settings - account tab - 'view all space earned and you will see.
So by that time you have become dependent upon it and you lose your free allowance and drop back to 2 Gb.
Is that why it is called drop box !?
So you have gone through all the hoops, introduced friends as required ( and they HAVE to join to see the shared folder that you HAVE to provide.
You have installed it on another device that you HAVE to do.
I am going to stick with my free 15 Gb on Google Drive together with 1 Tb ( yes ONE TERRABYTE ) on Flickr for all of my 22500 pictures.
how much available storage left on lg g2?
Thanks
Well on my 32gb version 8.57 gb is being used by the system. With my 65 apps installed and no pictures yet I have 22gb of space so I assume with 16gb less storage you would be around 8gb free space

I'm used to not having SD cards anymore, I have several clouds but I just use Dropbox and Google Drive. I have 100 gigs with Dropbox all free, my photos all go straight to their as well as Picasa and Google Plus. Theres no need to fill your phone up with photos when you can access them thru the gallery in the cloud. I don't store music on my phone either, I use a paid subscription to Rhapsody and before that I streamed my music using Google. Honestly the only things that should fill up space on the device these days is applications and once you debloat the phone having between 25 and 30 gigs for apps is more than enough for anyone.
im not sure if is it enough for regular user (like me).
