Has anyone tried the new alpha Jelly Bean 0.01? From the beginning and after having trouble with inofficial cm9 nightlies I always used his cm9 alpha. How is the stability of his cm10 alpha compared to cm9 alpha? Or compared to CM9 inofficial nightlies?

You'd better wait a while. If you read the first post of the CM10 post, you'll see what works and what doesn't. CM9 is much more stable at the moment.
The nightly CM9 builds have had a lot of problems with moving to the new kernel and trying to support both NT SKUs. If you want something newer than CM7 but still pretty stable, CM9 0.05.1 by chrmhoffmann is pretty good. It's highly functional and I have never had a SOD or random reboot. From all the chatter, it looks like CM10 is making rapid progress, probably thanks to a lot of the hard work put into CM9 carrying forward. Right now, I'd just remind everyone that patience is a virtue and good things take time.
@solar plexus
Hi solar plexus
you are right, the first post sounds scary but so did the first post of cm9 alpha by chwrmhoffmann but it worked really well from the beginning as far as I remember But as stated in the next post it was not based on kernel 3.x. Has anyone really tried the cm10 0.01 out? I can't because I'm currently on hollyday.
Hi strouperman
you are right I'm as well using this 0.05 alpha version by Chris Hoffmann. It works great from the beginning even if the first post was as scary as the one for the cm10.
But has anyone tried the cm 10 alpha 0.01 out? at the moment I can't because I'm on hollyday.

I gladly would unfortunately I'm on an 8gb model, so kinda out of luck until the 3.0 kernel works with it . Have to applaud the devs though, quick work jumping right in and getting an early release out already!

I briefly tried out the first posted build of JB (after backing up my system, of course). Despite the expected issues alpha, it seemed surprisingly functional. The issue I noticed off the bat was that it defaulted to phone UI (which I think is balls ugly on a tablet). I assume that this can be fixed by adjusting the DPI. The rotation issue was bad, but I hear that is already been fixed. The part that makes me want to wait until this is further along is mostly losing the awesome CM9 settings I've grown to love.
P.S. - For me this build operated longer without a random reboot than the last CM9 nightly I tried about 2 weeks ago. I messed around with it for about an hour and didn't have any reboots, which is about 58 minutes longer than the nightly. I have to wonder if some component to the 3.0 kernel that is deactivated for JB is the major culprit for the random reboots.
thanks for this overview I appreciate this very much. So I will trie it out after my hollyday. I hope it will soon be as stable as the cm9 0.05.
regards Martin

Well i had to go back to cm7 beta. The random reboots weren't bad for me just surfin the web. But when my kid started playing games i got tired of having to reboot it about every hour. Loved the JB though. Hope the devs work there magic and fix the random reboots. Keep up the good work devs.

Had one when I first loaded it. So I set the display time out to 30min and used wake lock. After that the only thing was I had to manually reboot it every time my kid was playing games on it for awhile. The screen would go blank and the backlight would stay on.
Had the same issue here. I'll patiently wait for the good work and switch when the time is right.
Bill
Version .02 works really well . It only reboots if you leave alone for awhile and unlock it now. And one while trying to make a tegra 3 app work. But Google now works like a charm, and most apps work, and less apps are restricted in the market now. Only the phone ui part sucks. Basically no landscape at home screen or searching through apps. Besides that annoyance I've been using it as my daily for 2 days now with few problems.

Hmm.. I've just left my WiFi on (set to never turn off during sleep) and the screen set to 30 minutes and haven't had the black screen in a a few days.. Granted not really any heavy use atm though, just xda, eBay, and some other stuff
Edit: I guess JB didn't like me saying that... was going to edit something and then black screen
I attempted to use the newboot.zip used previously for the CM9 versions that enabled the 8gb NT to use the ROM, and was met with the black screen with the two androids on it (to show that its the newboot)... but it would not proceed any further than that... i was hopeful, but i'm sure that someone eventually will come up with a solution to allow 8gb users to partake in the jellybean goodness as well
... EDIT!:
After wiping the data/cache and dalvik, reflashing JUST chrwmhoffmann's CM10 0.02 and Gapps, i thought it was giving me an error... after about 5 minutes at the boot logo, it rebooted... and then booted into the google account setup!... keep in mind, this is on an 8GB Nook Tablet. I will post screenshots when i get back home tonight
Here are the images for the boot and settings from my above post

Gday guys, just wondering how CM9 is working out on the Nook Tablet, It would be great to hear some feedback!
Cheers Steve
It seems stable enough. It's just missing a few things which could cause it to be a little sluggish at times and certain apps or features to not function. Look over in the dev thread at the details. I don't use it as my primary because it isn't as smooth as CM7 and I can't use Netflix yet. CM9 has a much better interface and looks nicer than CM7 so if it fits your needs I'd say try it.
I've been using it as my primary (only) ROM since the night it dropped and couldn't be happier.

I really wish we could run netflix and I would be in. I am so used to cm7 it is going to be hard to switch over. Then again that is the fun part too...

If you want to play graphic intensive games or use netflix, then CM9 may not be for you. I cancelled my netflix some time ago in favor of hulu+ and have a Xoom for games so I use cm9 as my daily. It's really a question of whether or not the missing parts are important to you. CM9 is otherwise extremely stable and has great battery life.
The Cm7 rom is great and props to Team B, but unfortunately gingerbread is a relic of android; it was designed for smaller screens. ICS is the real tablet deal.
It may only be me, but, I like that in CM7 apps like Maps and Earth can set your location from the wireless network you are logged into. I was not able to do that with CM9. Other than that they were pretty much the same for stability.
Stability of CM9 (as of October)
Hey again guys, instead of starting another post i would continue with this one...
Again, how stable is the new CM9, my reason for asking is that im still using CM7, and its great - really stable.
Im currently travelling, and i use my Nook all the time for Comics and books etc, and if its not stable i dont have time to just sit down and play with it?
If anyone can offer me any advice that would be great!
Cheers Steve

Hello all!
I know This is probably the most broad question asked, but I am curious. Ive been through a few old builds of JB (CM10 and varients of Kang) but they never quite were stable for a daily driver build. So im curious, as of right now, what do you think the most stable JB Roms are out there. And when I mean stable, I mean daily driver status. I would like to try each one individually and give it my own review but I have neither the time nor the patience to trudge through them all. So just an overall consensus would be fantastic! Im running Blackstar VII now and I honestly LOVE it, but equalizers do not play nice with that particular Rom and unfortunatly thats a bit of a deal breaker for me. Thank you for the help!!
Liquid jellybean is pretty awesome.

SlimBean has been the most stable for me so far although it still has random reboots.
The latest CM10 nightly was not bad, fastest yet but still had occasional reboot. Testing cookies n cream now, bout an hour in and so far flawless.

ParanoidAndroid (PA) is awesome. Along with JB, PA's options to adjust DPI is a nice feature for a big-screen phone like Note.
Also, JamieD81, the dev for this rom, is officially recognized by PA Team and XDA, and has been diligent with updates.
But almost all CM10 roms will have the same type of bugs (if any), because of the CM10, not the rom itself. And many of these bugs are being addressed and the roms are being updated accordingly as well. You can try different ones I guess, but I have not found a reason to even try something else.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686320
So it sounds like Liquid Jellybean and Paranoid Android has been the most stable. Test both ROMs out and decide witch fits you better. Have fun!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
The RC3 and RC4 builds of Liquid JB have been rock solid. No screen flicker, no lost APN settings and the only soft reboots I've gotten are directly related to VLC beta. Great feature set and frequent updates.

Did you say reliable?
Then forget about both ICS and JB and go with GB. Any variant will do.
ICS/JB ROMs are just too unfinished yet to be a reliable daily driver, IMO. People are woking hard on them though, so there is no doubt they will one day become as reliable as good old GB.
Agreed.

This is a very accurate summary of where we stand. I'm still running Nottachtrix 1.3.1 even though Nottach left the Atrix over a month ago, just because everything works on it. Bluetooth, wifi, HWA, Ubuntop, all cameras, and even a decent selection of themes for both android and linux.
But with the new leak libs, there is sure to be a fantastic CM9/10 ROM that takes advantage of them. We just have to be patient.
Hi
If you're not using thoroughly your phone, the CM10 form Epinter is now reliable enough for a daily use.
I was using CM7 since months, and after trying CM10 last week, i'm still using it and have found no real limitations for a basic usage.
I'd recommend you to keep a GB based rom if you want to have the most reliable system and if video recording is a primary need for you.
Just my $.02: I don't even use the "latest" GB 2.3.7 ROM: I've returned to Neutrino 2.6 EE (the latest is 2.91 at this writing). CM 7.2 RC1 was the most stable + efficient ROM from the CM gurus for my Atrix. I charge my phone once every two or three days too.
Think about driving a car that everyone laughs at that's never needing to go to the shop. Gits ya there, gits ya back, reliably and without anyone really paying attention to it, and it just goes and goes and holds its own against everyone else. Newest doesn't always mean best; trustworthiness does.
Epinter's CM10 worked OK for me despite the few well known bugs.
You might give the brand new AtrICS ROM a shot. It's hard to believe that it could already be as stable as it claims to be, but with working hardware acceleration, it should have some bugs fixed as compared to CM10.

I switched from epinter's CM10 to AtrICS today and found it to be a fairly usable. You trade some features for others.
I prefer the interface of CM10 to AtrICS, but AtrICS feels really snappy thanks to the HWA. I'll probably get used to ICS after a while. The Camera works well, but, like others I noticed that after switching from the back camera to the front, there was some corruption on the right side of the screen. Going into Camera Settings and unchecking then rechecking the Widescreen box fixes this. There are problems with the unlock screen of AtrICS; it can be slow to appear when you press the power button and I have seen the screen turn on for a split second before turning right back off. If you let the phone go into a deep sleep, you may see a black screen for a minute, in my case the unlock screen did eventually appear. I've had one reboot right after closing a bunch of apps running in the background then trying to open a browser.
WiFi works great with AtrICS and mobile data feels faster than I remember.
My mobile gone hot after a few minute use AtrICS, and experienced network lost. The phone also hot with epinter 's version.
Restored TopSmart1.3. GB has the stablity I trust.

Does your camcorder autofocus very often (around 1-5 seconds)? Mine does with Somebody's CM10, I'm just wondering if it just me.
Hi all, I'm not sure whether this is the right place to deliver my problem on my Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100.
My S2 is freezing frequently and I am having difficulty to trace down what is the actual cause.
My current running ROM is CM10 official nightlies.
I try to track down the obsessive running processes using WatchDog.
And, it turn out to be android.media.processing is running at high CPU (>50%) always.
So, I tried to disable the media scanner using Rescan Media. However, the freezing problem is still occured.
The freezing problem could be happened at any time(internet browse surfing, incoming call, sending a message, plugging charger into phone) and even during idling!
I am really out of idea, so I would like to seek any help from all of you. Thanks in advance.
Happened to me despite whatever kernel i tried on JB. Tried stock cm, stock aokp(the same aa stock cm), changmin's, dorimanx and siyah.
I didnt even undervolt plus i even tried to increase thw stock voltage values given in case JB requires more lower. But i cant get past 2days of usage without any freeze issues.
Im a heavy user of this phone and i charge more than 3x daily or just leave it charge or use while charge.
Will be testing leaked 4.1.2 today to see if it still persists. If it still does, im thinking of a worn out mobo or processor might be the case. If its fine, maybe those AOSP isnt much stable for some processors/mobos.
Was suprised btw seeing not many complaints over the issue across s2 section. Hardwarw issue or aosp stuffs?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Currently still trying to debug for the issue.
The phone works fine so far after I re-flash the CM10 without flashing the Gapps.
Now just trying to run the phone with some daily running apps like (Gmail, Facebook, Whatsapp, Line) to see if the freezing problem occured again.
I was worrying it could be due to faulty hardware since I accidentally drop it twice before.
I had lots of freezes, but on JellyBam it's working smooth...
My S2 freeze again while I am surfing the net. Anyone has any solution to this?

Paranoid are based off CM10 while AOKP and RootBox aokpJB are using GalaxyS2 specific stuffs from CM10 too. Most of our AOSPJB stuffs are similar to one another since hacksung are the pioneer who ported and built the base and improved over time with devs submitting patches to em.
But an issue caused by specific apps or framework is a diff case since those arent drivers/modules related and those are rom specific. Its hard to determine the root of the cause anyway -_-
