Hello world !!!
I've created a project of a new kind : The RecoverX Project
The goal of this project is to gather ALL the recoveries for ALL android devices in ONE tool which install them on the devices. RecoverX is coded in C++ thanks to QtSDK and allow to install a recovery on more than 150 different devices !!!
You just have to select your device and the recovery, click "Install" and RecoverX does the rest !!! It's that simple
This program require different prerequesties, depending of your device
- Wether you need an unlocked bootloader to flash the recovery partition (and fastboot drivers on your PC)
- Wether you need root access and usb debugging activated (if busybox is not installed, RecoverX will ask you the permission to install it).
This program have been published on XDA News : Here
Here is the list of supported devices :
Finally, a small preview
Awesome !!! Where is the download link ???
Here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773227
Which version of recovery does this install?
I've been waiting for something to come up that had a newer version of recovery built in for locked bootloaders.
This tool allow to install the ClockWorkMod Recovery v5.0.2.7 for Xperia Play.
If you have a newest version of CWM for Xperia Play or an other recovery you wish to install, just give me the post link and I'll add it to RecoverX.
Did I answer your question ???
That's awesome
The latest recoveries are in DooMLoRDs kernals, I dunno if that helps.
I have already installed recovery on my play, if I use this, will it install over the top? or will I some how have to wipe the old recovery?
@Adam3Sixty : Normally, if you previous recovery was CWM Recovery, the tool will install the newest CWM recovery over the top.
But I if you want to erase the previous recovery, you have to restore the phone via PC Companion.
I've just checked and the recovery I already have it v5.0.2.7-nAa-r2
Will try and find links for newer versions, and hopefully u can add them too
I've published a new version as some people have problem with "remount" the device. I also fixed the "Cross-device link" problem.
Here is the newest version : RecoverX v1.1
Touch recovery?

Sent from my locked R800x using XDA Premium
I'm currently working to fix all the small bugs for the next version but if you can advise me a custom recovery, I will be very happy to add it to my program !!!
Have u thought about contacting DooMLoRD about using his custom recoveries?
When I had an unlocked bootloader I always used his kernals and his custom recovery was great, not sure about details as my unlocked Play died and now I have a locked one so not been keeping up with the times of the "free and unlocked" bunch, lol.

TWRP is much more advanced in my opinion than cwm 5 + 6 . We just need someone with experience to compile it for our device

Thanks.
It's not much use for me since all the custom kernels i install already have cwm built-in but i imagine it will be useful for people with locked bootloaders.
@fr33styl3r7 : Yes, I think it will be usefull for people who can't unlock their bootloader.
I'm working to add Xperia S, Xperia X10 & Xperia Mini Pro in the list.
I've published a new version as some people have problem with "remount" the device. I also fixed the "Cross-device link" problem.

Well it seems like a good app but we can already install CWM recovery which is the best already with CWM auto-installer found at play store.
Anyway such programs are useful for people like me (with locked bootloaders)
However, for the moment, CWM Installer on the Play Store can only install CWM whereas RecoverX can also install xRecovery (only for the X8).
Moreover, CWM Installer on the market can install CWM just for 2011 devices contrary to RecoverX.

Wonderful tool created By a wonderful Brain..
Cheers..!
This tool works pn unlocked bootloaders but you need to be on stock rom and, consequently, on stock kernel.
Thanks for your encouragments !!!
PS : I'm working on a GUI version of this tool
would this allow user with xperia arc that cannot unlock their bootloader install cm9?

hmmm,
where is the recovery installed with this tool?
and so what's the point of this for custom kernels? (recovery is embedded in kernel)
or is it only for stock kernel? (for stock you could add a busybox installer)
am not sure it is really useful for our range of devices (i mean shakira/mimmi/robyn)
PS: this idea i good, and i hope for good improvements
Good idea !!! I will try to add a busybox installer soon. And yes, this is only for stock kernel because custom kernels already have a recovery included in the kernel (such as ALFS or nAa which got CWM).
And the main fucntion of the program is to simplify the installation of a recovery for beginners.
Moreover, thanks to this tool, you don't have to install xRecovery if you wish to install CWM with xRecovery.
And what improvements do you think ???

you should tell it in the OP that it is only for stock
ideas for next :
busybox
colorful soft
browse-able menu or GUI
auto device recognition using build.prop with confirmation asked to the ser before installing
wow, really nice tool, i hope you will add more functions
btw there already is a tool that can do more things, but the dev isn't developing it anymore, maybe you can continue in his work
is this good for u20i ? x10 mini pro?
@fifo171 : I would be very honored for that but I've got already a lot of work and, on top of that, X8.toolbox isn't coded in C++, so I'm not a specialist.
@matmutant : I take note of your ideas and I already tell that is for 2.1 stock rom in the post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773227

Hello everyone !!!
I've created a new tool for all Xperia devices (included Xperia X10 Mini) to install a recovery automatically such as CWM Recovery.
Let me present you RecoverX !!!
Here is the list of supported devices for the moment :
Xperia Active
Xperia Live with Walkman
Xperia Mini
Xperia Mini Pro
Xperia Arc
Xperia Arc S
Xperia Neo
Xperia Neo V
Xperia Play
Xperia Pro
Xperia Ray
Xperia X8
Xperia X10 Mini Pro [NEW]
Xperia X10 Mini [NEW]
You need to be rooted, busybox installed on your phone and USB Debugging activated. Finally, you need to be on 4.0 or 2.3 Stock ROM (2.1 Stock ROM for X8, X10 Mini & X10 Mini Pro). The tool also works on locked bootloader.
