-drop down the status bar
-slide the toggles to the right

-done!
Turn notification on, in the pull down status bar

I noticed today that out of the blue, my status bar stopped displaying icons of ongoing activities like the Music Player and notifications of Emails even though they were there in the notification bar. All I saw was a grey arrow pointing to the left with a - sign within the arrow. Any probable cause for this?.. and how do I fix it?

It means notifications are turned off. There's a toggle in the status bar.
This gets asked every day

Hi
i have just noticed this on my gs3, there is this icon on the left that wont go away even when i reboot.
When I turn on wifi or download something, i cant see the icon any more, (in the screenshot below wifi hotspot is on but the icon is not visible because of the white icon). I can only see them if i am multitasking eg wifi plus download. It seems that first space is blocked out by that white icon
how can i get rid of it
please help
thanks

Does it have that on the ROMs screenshots? I had the same symbol before flashing to JB CM10. But never affected me so left it be

It looks like a modified Icon for 'No notifications'.
Search the notification toggle in the Notification bar and enable it.
Ask on the ROMs thread maybe?

Here is how:

Had to look it up, should have bookmarked. Updated my ROm and have to do this again.....
i like how it has both tray and status bar at the bottom, currently the AOSP ROM i am on has the notification bar at top and nav buttons on bottom which takes away screen space.
anyone know how can i get it like this or will i have to change roms?
