Jesus, you alright hehe? I got the Commuter Series, and dropped it from about 10ft off my Step Ladder at work. I put my phone in a Sandwich Baggy, for added protection from dust as well. But it hit real hard, and the phone was just fine. It collects lint and such from your pocket (Which really drives me crazy) but i bought it for protection. Not for fashion. And it does its job well!!
Me being the nerd I am, it was the first thing I asked the police was if my phone was OK and the cop was like "its fine, good thing you bought the otterbox kid"

Glad you and your phone are ok. I just bought the Commuter the other day from Amazon, it should be here this week. I was looking at the thread about the bent phone and I looked at mine and noticed mine had a bit of a bend to it as well. I've been using a TPU case since I got the phone, I figured the Otterbox might add a bit of structural stability to keep it from getting worse. I loved the Commuter on my OG EVO but I never got one for my 3D because I didn't like the design of it. The LTE version looks good and I've seen a lot of good reviews on it so I'm going back to it.

That sounds awful! Except for the part about the case protecting your phone. I had a bike accident when I was 8 where I hit a car and suffered a concussion. I'm pretty sure that was before cell phones were around.
Wow! Forget the phone, lmao. Glad you're ok! I broke my foot about two years ago. You'll appreciate your arm in a whole new light once you're healed. I have the Defender too - great case.
BTW are you going after the driver? Did the police determine they were negligent?
Glad you are still around to post this!

Its aight, I think I like it better than my EVO 3d, we just need some ASOP then it'll be perfect. It is a sexy phone I'll give it that.
ive got another pro for you well its a pro fro me...
i was wondering why the corners are at the 45 degree cuts, then i held an evo again today and i thought to myself "why in the heck is the phones corner jabbin into my palm?!"
when you hold a photon, the slanted corners allow more surface contact to the palm of your hand, so its more comfortable and easier to hold. it all adds up now in my mind lol
If you want real joy to hold get the Otterbox defender. Although a little bit of a lint magnet, the soft gel exterior is supremely comfortable as well as super protective.

I don't have the creak at all, I find that the back plate is very, very firm and much quieter than the Evo I used to have as well as the 3d. I do however have the Otterbox Commuter case and it is simply amazing! The defender is way to bulky and really is only needed for construction workers and the like. But if you so desire big and bulky, it is perfect for you ;-) . The commuter with an Invisibleshield is perfect for me.

Update just in case you want to ask for this. Just got off the phone with a Motorola rep and told her about the creaky battery door issue and asked her if they could send me a replacement door because I didn't want to exchange my whole phone for that and she said no problem. She said since im still in my first year of warranty there would be no charge and no questions asked per se. She recorded my serial number and verified my address and said fed ex should have it to me in a few days. One more thing I could understand every word she said no outsourced phone center here. Great customer service!

So you switched to MoPho at last ?
I have done my research on both the products, but one thing i didnt notice mentioned alot is if you drop the phone a lot. I tend to get bumped into a lot while holding my phone in my hand and i always end up with a spider cracked screen. happened on my palm pre, and evo shift a couple of times. but when i get this phone i want to get a good case but not mega bulky. if i was to have the commuter and i dropped it, would it be ok still or would the defender be a better choice?
but i heard the commuter has a crappy silicon part on the top, is that something to worry about?
plus i never usually buy cases for phones so this will be the first time buying a case for a phone.
sry for another otterbox post.
Ive had both. I broke two commuters before moving to a defender. Dropped, kicked, and thrown and not single scratch. Highly recommend
Sent from my Motorola Electrify using Tapatalk
I have a Commuter that I'm happy with, but I'm not prone to dropping.
The Commuter is a 'nicer' case that provides protection against average manhandling while the Defender is an indestructible brick and better for high-risk users.
ok thank you guys, that helps I did hear that a skydiver had the defender one day and drop it at he jumped out of the plain (not on purpous, was an accident), but when he landed he went to find his phone thanks to gps finder on it, landed on in a grassy patch only thing happened was spider cracked the screen but he could still make calls with it. i was impressed by the story i almost dont believe it lol.

I got a gray hard case with a built in kick stand, it if actually pretty nice. The kick stand allows you to stand the phone up 3 ways. I am very pleased with sprint for this, something they didn't have to do they did..that means allot in the days of companies like Verizon charging 300+ for their newest cell phones just because people will pay for it. Sprint only charged $200 then something unexpected happened and they sent their customers a case for the troubles .. That just shows how much they care about taking care of customers.

I don't use cases on my devices usually, but I find myself nervous about dropping my EVO because of how large it is. I'm glad I got the grey one because I might actually use it where if it was blue and sticky silicone I never would.

The exposed surfaces of the phone become what is called hydro phobic (literally "scared of water" but really just repels water). Like how water beads on a waxed car. However, so repelling of water that water can't get through cracks less than about a millimeter or so at close to surface pressures. Your phone has no holes that large but mic jack and USB, and while water goes into the big holes, it can't get past the smaller cracks inside them to get to circuitry.
That's the theory anyway. I'm still not going to try. I just stick my phone in zip lock bag whenever it might be exposed to water, like around the pool or in my sweaty pocket while mowing. Screen still works great, just follow usual precautions about sharp objects near phone (no keys in pocket).
