Hey guys,
I am new here and wanna learn. I have ICS 4.0.3 build .562 rooted.
I am experiencing few problems, i would be happy if somebody can help:
1. I cannot get into recovery mode of my phone. I tried Rom Manager too but failed. I want to have a Nandriod backup but can't.
2. I get a message "error processing purchase" on google play store while downloading a free app.
3. I cannot copy files when my computer is connected to PC. I can see a drive in My Computer and see all the files, but i cannot copy them. Copying a folder helps but the copied folder is always empty.
I am stuck up guys.. Please Help
Welcome to XDA
Seems like a messed up OS !
I am not sure, what's the cause of those problem, but is your phone working fine with normal usage ? ie Call, SMS, Browsing wifi etc ?
try Repairing your phone with SUES and check things without Rooting 1st !
1 have you installed cwm? There are many versions floating around, some you tap the screen others use volume down, install one and try. You can then set rom manager to use the installed one.
2 have you set up a payment method on play, not all networks support adding to your phonebill, you many need to add card details.
3 switch to msc mode in settings, mtp support is flaky on some OS

thanks but still stuck...
1. i just wanna use the built-in recovery. For that what i should do?

3. where is MSC mode in settings.. please elaborate.. i appreciate
@zmbutt

1. No Build-in recovery
2. For MTP mode, go to Setting>Xperia>Connectivity>chose MTP
1) You can install one (there is information in the forum already). If you don't want to bother and you have unlocked bootloader, you can get `recoveryNeo.img` and use `fastboot boot recoveryNeo.img` to boot recovery the current session.
No built-in recovery on Neo V though.
Doing some cleaning and moving this to Q&A. OP glad you are wanting to learn and best of luck to you.
just in case you still need
I, too have experienced this that i cannot reboot to recovery after flashing a new fw and installed cwm so heres what i did:
1. Do a factory reset (found in settings).
2. Install CWM.
Try if this method/procedure works for you!

Android phones don't have a recovery mode by default. We have to install one. One of the most popular on is ClockWorkMod recovery. Once you have rooted your phone, its pretty simple to install. I can elaborate on the procedure if anyone is looking for the solution still.

Instead of using the Windows Explorer, try copying files directly from the PC Suite.
hello,
I rooted my SGS2 using the noob friendly method involving chainfire's method. I got the super user permission and cwm app alright.
to verify its working i bought and installed the triangle away app to remove the yellow exclamation symbol at the start. Its a super app and you should buy it as a token of appreciation for the hard work those guys have done
all my data and apps were intact though i had backed them up using mybackup pro.
Then i noticed 3 apps were missing -
xda deevelopers app
merriam websters dictionary
one more i am unable to find because the icon is not showing and i cannot pinpoint what it was ??
I tried to reinstall the 2 apps and after downloading it says - "couldn't install on USB storage or SD card"
to make sure i went ahead and installed a game springshoot and played for a few minutes and it worked fine.
so what went wrong and how do i set it right again ?
---------------------------------------------------------
I also had another doubt.. it was mentioned in the chainfire's thread somewhere that it is closet to the stock kernal and that it is not compatible to the rom manager and we should use cwm to manage app and everything. So what is the difference between the two and should i flash another kernal or rom to make it compatible ?
Also after using the cf method can i install cyanogenmod stable version on my phone now ? is rom manager necessary for installing new roms ?
thanks..
i am sorry but after searching everywhere i still cant find any answers... amybe not searching the right places
can anyone help me with the lost apps.. i still cant install the ones that got uninstalled upon rooting though i did installed titanium backup and did a successful backup and also connectbot and root checker to verify if root access is provided properly...
should i simply do a backup and go for a new custom rom and then install those apps ? i will try cynogenmod now and see if i can reinstall everything back including the lost apps.
will keep posted on how it goes...
Some cf root kernels have issues with external storage. They are flagged with stars. You can
- flash a valid cf root again
- flash your stock kernel then root with the guide method 1 (link in my signature) : proper and no yellow triangle

Im trying to setup wifi tethering on the x10mp (phone 3G->wifi to a laptop).
I've tried Barnacle (laptop failed to connect to phone), and "wifi tether for root users" (two apps), but both gave an error message that the kernel is missing some components.
has anyone got some wifi tethering app to work on x10mp? and if so, which one and how?
TIA

AW: [Q] wifi tethering
If you are on stock SE firmware, even if you have rooted your phone, Wifi tethering wont work for you, as the stock firmware does'nt support tethering. Here is a link with a list of tutorials and custom ROMs (I think all ROMs from android 2.3 support tethering):
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588192
The easiest way would be to install xrecovery on your stock kernel (you'll find one under "stock kernel based custom ROMs) and then flash a GingerBread(2.3) ROM via xrecovery.
Please press thanks if I helped .
Tnx.
Im using the stock SE ROM.
Kernel 2.6.29
Firmware 2.1-update1
Any chance I could get wifi tethering working w/o installing a custom ROM?

Sorry, bro, but I've never heard of anyone gettin tethering to work on SE stock firmware, but custom roms, especially on GB, are really worth it. Why don't you give it a try ?

Well, these show that people (allegedley) got wifi tethering on the x10mp:

Im afraid of bricking my phone if I try to flash a different ROM, as Ive never done this before.

Don't be afraid of flashing Roms in stock kernel, its simplicity itself. If you have already rooted your phone, here's a quick how-to:
1.Download stericson's busybox from the market & install newest version (currently 1.20.2, I think)
2.Download the zip file in this post
3.Download script manager from the market.
4. Extract the files onto your sdcard so that you find the files "chargemon, busybox, xrecovery.tar, readme.txt, installer" in sdcard/download/xrecovery.
5.Open script manager, give superuser permissions (tick 'browse as root' on first startup), navigate to the folder you extracted and run 'installer' as root (tip on the superuser symbol on the top left corner. When activated, it should be green).
6.Download the Rom you want to flash onto your sdcard, a link you'll find in my earlier post(only choose from stock kernel based roms)
7.Reboot.
8. When the SE logo appears, press back button quickly several times. You will boot into xrecovery.
9.Make a backup via xrecovery.
10.wipe data via xrecovery and install your downloaded rom, surprise, via xrecovery.
11.reboot&enjoy!

PS: Sorry, forgot to upload the zip file, will upload tomorrow, as it's getting late now .

Looking forward to the files you've mentioned.
1. Can I create a backup of the current kernel & ROM (the SE stock ones which the phone arrived with)?
In case something breaks during the process, I could hopefully revert to these.
2. Can I get the wifi tethering functionality without updating the kernel, only by installing a new ROM?
When I tried the "wifi tether for root users" app it showed an error message that the kernel is missing some components.
Xrecovery
So, here is the zip.
PS: All credits go to the guys in the following link (quangnhut123), he uploaded the files, I only wrote the installer script .

Change in step 4:
4. Extract the files onto your sdcard so that you find the files "chargemon, busybox, xrecovery.tar, readme.txt, installer" in sdcard/download/xrecovery.
Yes, you are able to restore your previous system via an xrecovery backup.
Please press thanks if this worked for you. If it didn´t please tell me what went wrong, I will fix asap.
NOTE: I havn't tested this yet, because I havn't had time to reflash & root my X10 MP. As said above, if it doesn't work, I will fix .
When I used the stock ROM, I used brancle for wifi tethering, It worked. Unfortunately, I do not remeber the exact settings. But I'm sure, It works.

What about my question regarding the kernel? as I mentioned, when I tried the other tethering app, the error it displayed was that the kernel is missing some components. so If I use the stock kernel, and only install a new ROM, will this still allow wifi tethering, or do I need to flash a new kernell as well?

Well, I don't think your kernel is missing components, that would
1. Disprove the links in your post and
2. Disprove what tommy posted.
Also, I'm pretty sure that when I was on Minicm7Pro (with stock kernel), I had wifi tethering.
PS.: Bro, if you are using your browser for posting and you are logged in, there's a "Thanks"-button on the bottom left of every post, or if you are using the android app, just click on a post and the option thanks (danke) will appear. Pressing this will for one thing be easier than writing thanks in a new post, and also, many people like it when their thanks meter goes up and will thank you in return.
PPS.: If you alredy know all that and I've just made a fool of myself, sorry . Besides, I'm just testing the method I described myself, I'll give you feedback as soon as everything works .

What ROM do u recommend getting (I'm staying with the stock SE kernel)?
I want something super stable, and for which everything works.

First of all, did the script work (yet)? Have you tried it yet? Sorry, I havn't tested yet, but I will do so today.
Secondly, MiniCM7pro always worked well for me, but if you like the stock SE style, try SonyStyle by the same developer.

Actually, I remembered, that i can simply see the settings in my wife's mini, which is with the stock ROM, and uses Brancle. I just tried it, works flawlessly. The phone is only rooted, nothing more. Here are the settings:
SSID - elka
BSSID - empty
Wireless encyption - five low-case letters, no numbers, no symbols, for example - abcde, ASCII encoding
Channel - 6
Custom Wifi Ad-hoc - none
Skip wpa_supplicnat - not checked
Auto Associate - not checked
Accsess control - not checked
New client actions - Notify (checked), Sound - Play a ringtone, Light - empty, Allow - empty
Local mode - checked,
DHCP - Gw - 192.168.5.1, Mask - 255.255.255.0, First Host - 100, Lease time - 1200 sec, DNS1 and 2 - empty
NAT - leave everything default
WAN- rmnet0
LAN - empty
What do you mean when you say "laptop failed to connect to phone" - tries, but can't get address, or nothing happens? If nothing happens, try to press the "Associate" button.
I remember, that there was something strange with the password - make it as simple as you can. If it is not working, try temporarily to disable encryption.
I cannot tell the version of Brancle I am using, but Market doesn't offer me an update, so it must the latest one, at least for the stock x10 mini with stock ROM. If you know how to check it - tell me, i will do it.
And something else - check the security settings of the laptop - are the Ad-Hoc networks and WEP encryption allowed? Brancle makes Ad-hoc only, not infrastructural.
Good luck!
EDIT/
As I see from market, the version of Brancle is 0.6.7 (evo)

Tnx Tomny.
I set the same settings as u did, still no luck.
The barnacle log shows: WIFI: failed to reassociate
Im using linux (debian), with network manager, which should be able to connect to an adhoc network,
any ideas?
TIA
Update:
It works for only a single time. The gnome network manager defined the wireless network as "infrastructre", and I changed it to "adhoc".
It connected once, but Im not being able to reconnect again now. ;-(
any suggestions?
Try to connect some other device, to see whether the problem is in the device, or in the Mini/Brancle. What do you mean, saying "not being able to reconnect"? - You cannot see network, you see it, but nothing happens when trying to connect, you can try to connect, but cannot aquire address (ie stuck on "connecting...")

Hi all,
A few days ago i got my Xiaomi Mi2S 32gb. I have several problems with this device (wifi not working on my home wifi 95% of the time, play store stops working EVERY time after 1 second etc.) and therefore would like to update to the multi language rom. There is a simple guide that provides 2 options to do this.
1. The first one is by using the updater app that should be preinstalled
2. Flashing it using ROM manager --> reboot into recovery.
I currently have MIUI- JLB13.0 (stable) and android version 4.1.1 JRO03L.
Weirdly enough i do NOT have the folder "security center" and therefore do NOT have the updater application so this is not an option. The other option is flash it. I'm kind of a noob so i tried finding out how and it sais that i can use ROM manager for that. Just put the new rom on the sd card, reboot into recovery and voila. This application however has problems as there is no superuser found at "/system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su" meaning it is not rooted. Normally people can just go to the LBE guard in the folder "security center" and tell the phone it's ok to root, which is impossible in my case.
If i want to manage permissions and then go to manager root permission it sais "ROOT is not available in MIUI stable" and that i have to change to a developer version to enable root permission. Of course i can then download verion JLB18.0 but how on earth can i get it on there? I could use the MiFlashSetup provided by Xiaomi, but the phone it not recognized when i link it to my pc with USB so that doesn't work either...
I'm very frustrated right now, been working on this phone for days and it still doesn't work so please help me!

If you DO NOT have updater application then it is probably fake, therefore you have so much problems.

So i rooted my Blu Energy X Plus, and i decided to get rid of some blotware using some cool rooted apps. and i deleted download manager, (i thought it was blotware for some reason) and i deleted the stock launcher, because i was using nova launcher.
a little time later i realise that i can't download any apps. i soon figure out it's becuase i deleted the download manager. i try desperately to find a place to get it back, but nothing.
so i figure, i would just factory reset! i had just gotten the phone that day so what is the harm? well when it was finished i had no launcher, and still no download manager. it just says "android UI had stopped working" or something like that.
the only way i can get it to boot up, is if i choose the option: "wipe"data/factory reset" in the recovery menu.
I Have Tried to "Install Update From ADB" using this tutroil: digitaltrends com/mobile/how-to-install-the-android-m-developer-preview-on-your-nexus-device/2/
i know it says nexus, but i figured it would work for me as long as i used the correct image. i found an image for my phone here: needrom com/download/blu-energy-x-plus-e030u/
But there's another image Here: needrom com/download/blu-energy-x-plus-e030l/
I Don't Know Which one is the correct one. i have tried to install both links on the first one, but my phone just says instalation aborted when i start it.
I Installed the drivers in the first link there as well^
Well i can boot up my phone and turn on debugging, and stuff, but i dont have a launcher or download manager. i can launch the built in apps (by going to apps in the settings) like google, and chrome, but i still can't download anything.
My PC Is Running Windows 7 64 Bit, and the phone is running Android 5.0 With a Skin that Blu Put on. (IDK What It's Called)
can anyone help? am i not using an official ROM for my phone? Any Help Would Be Amazing.

Isn't there a way to re-install the download manager and stock launcher through adb? I'm not sure where you can find the apk's for said applications (perhaps you could ask a user with the same stock device to send them to you?)
It's easy to extract the apk of the download manager on a stock device and then send it over through adb. Checkout this tut: hxxp://www wikihow com/Extract-APK-File-of-Any-App-on-Your-Android-Phone
Then you could use:
Code:
adb pull path-to-my.apk
Or some other method to send the apk file to your pc...
If you can you could simply install it on the other broken device with
Code:
adb install path-to-my.apk
You would have to install adb on your windows 7 machine (which is included in android software development kit. I've just installed AndroidStudio to do this for me.) and enable adb on your phone. Here is a reference: hxxp://developer android com/tools/help/adb html
Change xx into tt and add dots instead of spacebars, I'm a new user too...
Or you could transfer the file to your device some other way and use a file explorer to find it, click on it and let the phone install it itself without the use of adb... I'm sure a stock device comes with the capability of installing apk files through the UI.
That worked to install nova launcher. but i still need my download manager. any idea of where to find it? or is there any alternatives?

Like I said, find someone with the same stock device and let them extract the apk, send it to your computer and then install the apk through adb on your broken phone.

EDIT: you might be able to request xda to create a forum for blu energy x plus. They have a lot of different phone model forums but not one for blu energy x plus yet. If they will you could start a thread there to ask if anyone could send you the apk.
You might wanna checkout this thread for that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335502
K Thanks! i am able to use my phone now, it's just a bit of a hassle to install apps from an APK by trasfering them from my tablet
i'll be looking for someonw with the same phone as me, and i'll probably be posting somewhere if anyone has this phone. or get a forum request for it. thanks for all your help! i hit the thanks button on both your replies!

Well you can see from your last post you would use E030U from needarom. I have V11 and V14, If you would make a backup of your system, boot.img, recovery.img and upload them that would be great, I could add V9 to my twrp recovery and build flashable rom for it.
You can get all the files you need from the needarom system.

I have not been able to install a ROM. i have tried to install a defualt ROM, but it always gives en error. i tried applying an update From ADB using my computer, and that did not work. i tried install update from SDCard, and another error. i have followed tutroils, but it always fails. what exactly should i do?
I don't understand your question, you were asking what rom to use, so I told you. You said you wanted stock launcher and download manager, they are in the needarom system.img

to make a good backup once you have rooted, go to playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.h3r3t1c.onnandbup&hl=en
install Online Nandroid Backup * ROOT
open app
grant su permission
change Backup Type from clockworkmod to twrp
change backup mode from normal backup mode to selective backup mode
click blue select button
check
b:boot
r:recovery
s:system
click ok
top right click save
quick backup
start backup
Then zip up backup and upload it for me.
PS if you haven't installed busybox most people have, but if you haven't you would need to install that as well.

Once you do this and install my twrp recovery ported to your V9, you can install my backup V11, or test a custom rom, I am porting, they are still betas but work well enough.
The current rom I ported it this one.

Just now got it booted up.
OK i will do all of that. i am a bit busy and my upload speed is quite slow, so it may be a day or two, but i'll get the backup to you.
