Thanks in advance

silent mode
Be very careful with that as it is illegal in many places to silence the camera sound.

Also, if you have root, you can go to /system/media/audio/ui and rename camera_click.ogg and camera_click_short.ogg to something else (I add .bak to them). This will disable the click in both silent/non-silent sound profiles.
Um, open the camera, click the settings icon, and scroll down where it says shutter sound? Turn it off. Done.

Maybe its just my model, but my Verizon SGS3 doesn't have this option. I had to do it other ways.

There is no such option, at least not on mine from Verizon's phone and camera settings.

I did the same, except the only file I renamed was Shutter.ogg and that worked.

As another option to changing the name of the sound file and if you're rooted, in the Sprint Developers forum there's a configuration line you can add to edit the camera features so that Verizon S3's can get back that 'shutter sound option' check it out:

Method 1:
Using Root Explorer or something similar browse to system\media\audio\ui and rename Shutter.ogg and Shutter_multiple.ogg to whatever you want or just add a .bak extension to both files.
Method 2:

I just put my phone to silent mode using the volume icon in the notifications bar. No sound when I shoot. I expect that will be patched.

Yes there is an apk file do to it. Let me see if I have it on here. Gimme a second.
Edit.
Found it. There you go. Just install that to SD card, then go into apps, and click on enforced silencer check it on, and you're good to go.
Thanks

Let me know if you have any issues. It's what I'm running on my phone.
Better yet hop on root explore and go down to system>build propt mount R/O and change the "0" at the end to "1" and save change and reboot. ro.media.capture.shuttertone=0
I forgot who came up with the tweak but not I.

I recommend this more than the custom apk. This method is built-in and in case for some reason you want the sound back, the option is just a checkmark away.
The apk is also just a check mark.

If you're rooted all you have to do is use Root Explorer and go into:
/system/media/audio/ui
Change the name of "CameraClick.ogg" to "CameraClick.bak"
You can do the same for the video record sound...simple.

Yes, but doing the build.prop mod allows the toggle to be done from within the camera app which makes it much easier to toggle, as opposed to having to switch to another app.
No need to install anything. The easiest solution is usually always the best.
Yes. I didn't know you could do it from the app. Though easiest isn't always best.

No problem.
I'm trying to delete the file and it keeps saying it's read only iv'e tried changing the permissions and also the r\w on top no dice, lol what am i doing wrong
I just use Root Explorer and go to System/Media/UI then rename the Camera_Click.ogg to Camera_Clik.ogg just changing a single letter works and you can always restore it if wanted.
(You have to be Rooted)
Will this damage the screen? If not how would I set the screen to stay on while charging?

Unfortunate. It is for me on CM9.
Found a somewhat solution. I programed a tectile to toggle car mode. The only problem is that it opens the s voice app, which is kind of annoying.
I am looking for that too. I remember my S2 had an option to keep awake even in stock roms. Is there any 3d party application that is able to do that?
I know if you root your phone you can remove the shutter sound, but is there an app that will work to do this for those of us who don't want to root? I know there are other camera apps that have the option of no sound. But we all know those cameras are not as good as the stock camera. Is there a work around or an app that will work?

There's an option in the stock camera settings to turn the shutter sound off. No root or any other apps required. Just look in the camera settings, you'll find it.
You didn't look very hard. It's not even in a sub menu, just straight under options.

I don't have it on my Rogers i747 either.
or Verizon.
how do you do it once rooted?
Root explorer
system/media/audio/ui
Just add .bak to the end of the sound file you don't want to use.
Not rooted tmobile S3 has the option
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
So it sounds like Sprint and Verizon don't have the option, AT&T and T-Mo do?
Why the heck would Sprint and Verizon request such a change?
Also, is the shutter sound linked to any of the other volumes, such as media volume? Or will it always sound?
Stock att has the option too. But it won't remove the sound on screen shots.

So basically i found out that I can make custom vibrations in the settings and thats a really cool feature! What my problem is however is that when I set a vibration pattern that I like sadly the default vibration keeps on happening when I get text messages. Is there any way to fix this?

Yes. I've been searching for an answer...haven't found anything yet.
When I get a text message, my screen lights up. How can I make the screen not turn on when receiving a text notification? I am running GS4 Premium Rom
Go to the messaging app and hit menu.
Somewhere down the list is a checkbox for disabling the screen on when receiving message.

And I was wrong though It should be go to main messages press menu then settings is where I found it.
I just looked at my changelog and it seems that there were a few things added.
Like I said though, now that I think about it I very well could be wrong but I could have sworn it was there before I rooted and rommed
