hi guys, well to cut it short my market isnt downloading, one of the users "GHIDDA" put forward the suggestion that i have activated a bug in market (infinity downloading at 0 KB or ETERNAL DOWNLOADING) by removing gtalk130 or chat1.6,
ive checked my apps and dont have chat1.6, it was suggested that i flash my rom, i know how to flash but what i need is some pointers on the ROM required and if some of the excellent brains on here could tell me more i would be bloody grateful lol
If you have Titanium Backup installed browse to Backup/Restore tab and list here what google apps you have installed and we will take it from there.
im a dunce

i dont have it, i used seus to repair my firmware back to r2ba026 uk gen, i could go through the flash process to give me r2ba023 rooted, would only take me 15 mins, i think the problem is ive messed my phone right up and would be better flashing a gen uk voda and taking it to the shop to get it sorted,

Can you list the google apps that you have left installed? Do you have IM?
google apps
google apps 1.3
google mail 1.3
google mail storage 1.6
google partner setup 1.6
google search (enhanced) 1.6
google search 1.6
google setting provider 1.6
google talk 1.3
google talk service 1.3
IM 1.6
Interesting... All google apps are there.. Hmm...
When you flashed you handset what firmware did you use? And from where did you download it?

one of the old ones going from rf16 through step 2 then 3 to give r2ba023 then step 3 to root, originally had uk gen r2ba026 unrooted, used x10 root to root installed titanium and root explorer, went OTT with the delete and browsing through allsorts of folders, deleting what i thought was useless (inc things in data and app and delvic so it might be down to a missing file or something from them perhaps.....im a effin newbie hence FNG) hard reset got what i thought was a great looking simplified phone and aaarrrggghhh market not working, which was weird as i had rooted and restored a few times as i kept making mistakes and market was working as i had to download ASTRO to install the x10root.apk, but after a last restore it just stopped working.........................hence im a DUNCE
aaaarrrggghhhhh
went through the process, 1-3 but my market still wont download, does changing google matter, i created a new one yesterday
Vodaphone rom
If anyone knows where i can get a stock uk vodaphone rom for flashing i would be grateful, i have the two original files from when i debranded but as far as im aware that cant be done anymore.................................................

Is the problem that you can't download apps from the market, and it just hangs on 'download starting', or something like that?
If so, just open Google talk, and wait for it to sign in (with an active internet connection), and the download(s) should start.
It's a common problem - just have a look here:
http://www.google.co.uk/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=57b5e3efa7477b50&hl=en
I hope that this solves the problem, as it did for me.
Good luck!
Internet
do you mean wi-fi, 3g or with browser?
what would happen
what would happen if i installed a rooted firmware and then removed all the google apps and even market, and removed all files and traces associated with them from system or data and then cleaned all my caches? just incase it has something to do with a file error/virus or bug, would seus be able to replace all missing elements in a reinstall, or to simplify can i erase nearly everything and get seus to repair?

Hi,
Recently, I accidentally deleted my LG HOME app from my Optimus One (my phone was rooted). But since I was using GO Launcher Pro at the time, it didn't affect the phone functionality.
But then while playing with the phone I factory reset it, and whoosh ! I was left with no launcher screen at all (LG HOME being the default, which I deleted ). I was left with a blank screen, with just the notification bar.
HERE IS HOW I RECOVERED MY PHONE (and not the LG HOME app):
Step 1: Get a launcher app apk from somewhere and copy it to your SD card.
PS: Search on google 'go launcher ex apk' without the quotes. You can also search for ADW launcher or others (see android market).
Step 2: Turn your phone on.
Step 3: Get someone to call on your phone. Pick up the call.
Step 4: During the call tap the 'Add call button'. You will get the dialer pad, with contacts, call logs and favorites tabs as well.
Step 5: Go to contacts and click the menu hardkey to get the menu. Tap 'New Contact'.
Step 6: When you get the new contact form, tap the image with a '+' sign on it (It is used to add a contact image).
Step 7: Now you will get options as to where to get the file. Select OI File Manager.
Step 8: Navigate to the folder in which you copied the Launcher app (Go launcher, ADW Launcher or the like) and install it.
Voila ! You have a new launcher screen now.
PS : I was relieved when I finally got my launcher back. I was on the brink of flashing my phone to the stock KDW, which could've resulted in a bigger mess (Bricking etc.)
NOTE 1: If you factory reset your phone again, you will lose the launcher again, and will be back without a launcher screen. So make sure you don't do so lest you want to repeat Step 1 thru 8 again.
Word of advice: Make sure you have at least one launcher app installed on your phone (no matter which one, it should run).
USERS PLEASE UPDATE THE THREAD WITH OTHER ADVICES FOR THE PROBLEM.

Thanks for the info though.

But then you'd need to install all the android SDK and stuff on your PC.
This is just a work around. Of course, one would be in a problem if you don't have OI File Manager too.
Um, or use search button on phone and search for right app or what ever, search button on phone is pretty useful if you brick your rom. :]

someone posted to use the search button, well, i used the search button to get me to 4shared.com and downloaded launcher pro. when it was done downloading i pulled down the notification thingy and pressed the download complete icon. it then installed launcher pro and everything is fine. thank u guys for all your help, and i hope this info helps someone else out.
Well,I have fastest method than this
Which I used when I do the same thing
Stock rom have default LG home which u deleted that,s why blackscreen comes
So
Just slide that notification bar and turn on internet and from PC go to market download launcher it will be directly download to your phone bcoz of on internet
And you got your launcher back
Or make flashable zip of home launcher and flash it

Hi Christian. Should I install the attached LG Home only if I have installed recovery mode? I still have access to cell phone's mass storage. Can I install it from there even if I haven't installed recovery mode?

Yes you can extract the zip on sd card and you have to put the app in system/app and set the right permissions. You need root for this and a file manager that read internal storage like Es file explorer.
Hope you understanded my explanation

Hey guys, hate starting new threads, but this time I just had to. Here's the deal:
First I had a Galaxy Ace. I rooted it, and used root normally for a couple of months. Then something went bazzerk (don't know how to spell bazzerk xD), just as it is on my new Xperia neo. My root explorer works flawlessly and I'm able to mount my system r\o / r\w when ever I want and explore all sys files. BUT, my ROM toolbox, GO backup, etc. all apps that actualy "touch" system files (I mean change or retrieve the above), freeze when a command is given. I.e. I want to move an unmovable app to the sd card. The file IS moved, but the app freezes on "loading". GO backup: I restore a file, it's completely restored, but the app frezzes on 99% even though the job's done. Why is this happening, and is there a way to fix it?
Thank you all, and cheers
P.S. This problem sometimes just vanshies, but it's back a few days later.
P.P.S. I tried restarting, taking the battery out, restarting SU, and restarting the freezing apps, nothing erases the problem.
Have to you tried to factory reset in your phones settings?
If you´re rooted check the superuser app and loock at the log
what does superuser state?

Installed, checked. Says it's rooted. I'm using Superuser and it's reporting no problems. Still freezes when an app changes something.
The thing is root works, I mean I can backup\restore app data, freeze apps, etc. but after the phone does this, the app freezes, even though it's done. A very strange problem. Is there anything I could have accidently made to brake it (exept disallowing an app from Superuser rights, I checked that three times; allways allowed) ?
I remember that i faced such problems a few weeks ago...
some root file explorers denied me the acces to the root files while i tried to change a bootanimation
root acces was granted but it didnt worked
afterwards i tried another root file explorer and it worked fine
why ?
i dont know but something went wrong with the first file browser
Try SuperSU v0.95
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
Thank you all, it so happened that this version of Superuser didn't quite well support these versions of apps. Just changed the ROM Toolbox to a newer version, and it works perfectly.
:good:
apparently not working after root
noob here, I did my first root today, and have only been an android user for 2 weeks after defecting from apple since the first iphone. I was a jailbreak veteran of idevices, but I got bored with the stale bread, so I spent my taxmas on a Samsung galaxy s4. Specifically wanting the i9500 version so it would be unlocked to use on net10. I followed the steps from website, and video on Odin. And it looked like it worked perfectly. It wasn't until I tried to my photo gallery app to look at some pictures, and it crashed and wouldn't load. I had the same issue with a business calendar issue app that wouldn't open. I tried clearing system cache on gallery app but no luck. I'm afraid I'm in over my own head now, and might want to restore and start from scratch. The first thing I did after rooting was a full Titanium backup. only things that I installed after root was xposed installer and an app within the installer called swipeback.
I would like to know if there is a fix for this, without having to break away from root? Or if I must, how do I know which stock file I need. I know it's i9500ubueMk1 but there's many different regions.. I bought from a best buy in Charlotte . If there isn't a simple fix to fix why my apps aren't working, then the root does more harm than good, and I wanna go back to normal.
Someone please walk me through this!!
thanks

I had the same problem. Theres nothing wrong with your phone, its the app. Instead of root explorer, download root browser. It works better
Hey,
first of all my goal:
I'm on stock 4.2.1 with my Galaxy Nexus. I want to be able to toggle airplanemode either via notification center or nfc, or any other app like Tasker.
My question is:
Currently my phone is rooted and I installed different Apps like NFC Tasker, Tasker etc. I made some of this app to a system App --> moving to /system/app/ an granted them root access.
What happens to this Apps if I unroot / unlock my phone again.
Do they keep their root access, because they are at the Systemapp folder?
If not what options do I have? I don't want to keep my Phone rooted. I found a APP namped helper it is used by "Security Settings" to e.g. toogle airplane. Is that an option?
Thanks a lot
I have tried to root then unroot my gingerbread device after moving some apps to system, everything seemed fine.
Good luck !

I have tried Root Explorer and it allows me to read and write to the SD card. I have Root Call blocker and that works as well, I have tried Xposed Framework and so far no go, it does a reboot and you will lose root. This is still a work in progress but it looks a lot more promising than a couple of months ago.
I did not use any img files due to mine being a note edge and I think those files are for those who have taken the lollipop upgrade on their Note 4's. Since we have not received the lollipop upgrade to our edge's yet you should be good to at least temporary root because it is only working on KitKat.
I was able to temp root with king root 4.0.1 apk ... and was able to remove bloatware files from: system/app and: system/priv-app but after reboot they are all back.
Update.... after temp rooting. . Install Titanium Backup and Freeze system apps will enable you to "turn off" apps that you otherwise wouldn't be able to disable through the stock app manager in settings menu.
See screenshot below. ...
Screenshot
Screenshot of TouchWiz disabled because I use a different Home Launcher. And YES it keeps disabled through a reboot.
Was able to turn off The KNOX apps as well... seems to keep root longer without rebooting. HOWEVER root doesn't last forever.. meaning apps like Titanium Backup will lose root... and you will have to reboot and run King root again to get temp root to freeze more apps etc.
This is still a work in progress, hopefully the losing root problem will be fixed soon.
This is nice but after messing with it all week I gave up. I could easily get temp.root and get SU installed but you lose root after about an hour even if you touch nothing. You will also get random reboots a lot and then have to start over.

If you install Titanium Backup and "freeze" all the Knox apps [see post 7, 8, & 9] you can keep root long enough to freeze all unwanted bloatware. That way you can at least "turn off" [disable] those apps from running in background etc. It's something more then we had.
Keep at it guys! I'll join when I get some time tomorrow and Monday

Yup, this worked. All week I was trying to "remove" these applications via tibu but yesterday I just froze them. I still lost root but see everything I froze is still listed as "Turned off" in Application manager. That will do for now, Thanks!
when you temp root, use TiBu to "convert to user app" this should move all the files to the user apps directory instead of system apps then try to uninstall and see if they come back after reboot. Just a hunch but I can't try since I don't have the retail version.

You need to long press on the app. Towards the end of the setting that popup you should see the convert to user app setting.
Easiest way I found was to freeze all the apps you don't want, filter for frozen apps then go through the list converting them to user apps
Edit: this doesn't work. They will install themselves back after doing this.
I figured they would come back.. freezing app is as good as it gets for now.
long press or swipe right to get to the additional options. also thank you guys for confirming that for me. i wasnt for sure since I dont have the retail version to test out on.
also i think i remember reading in the note 4 forum that they were able to get it perma deleted by uninstalling all updates then uninstalling the app or something along those lines. I will go back and read it again to be sure of what i read, i may have misread.
I used this method to disable knox and bloatware on my Verizon Edge even without root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/general/disable-knox-ota-root-t2972263
As far as temp root is concerned using King root, I suppose while on a rooted state, one can make changes to the system such as:
1) Enabling 3rd party apps like ES File Explorer to write to SD card by modifying platform.xml as described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524277
2) Enabling hidden menu (if this is important to you) by modifying /efs/carrier/HiddenMenu file.
Even if you lose root, the changes you made to these files should stick, correct?
