Hi all,
I have searched all over the net for a specific question but cannot find the answer I am looking for.
I have a Galaxy s3 & believe I have the 'low mic problem' that is documented in many Galaxy phones. I have turned off 'noise reduction' which may have helped but my main question is this: When I go into 'ServiceMode' & attempt to choose 'Audio' (by touching or by selecting input and 5)
nothing happens? All other options allow me to go in further. Can any of you help me? And is there another way to boost mic?
I have just converted from Crapple & am very happy with phone bar this one problem.
Have you tried recording audio with the Voice Recorder and playing it back?T
This will check if the issue is caused by the voice call (which can be anything from ROM over modem to provider) or hardware (microphone)

Hi all,
Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100M
Generally I have a problem with my mic - as many others - ppl sometimes can hardly hear me or don't hear me at all when talking on the phone EVEN I can talk normally on Viber or Skype etc AND Voice Recording recognizes very low sound very GOOD
So I found on this forum, or somewhere, an service menu *#*#197328640#*#* where you can adjust some audio settings - BUT I CANT go only into this AUDIO (no 5) option, in all others everything works just fine.
Does someone know how to resolve this and enter into this sub-menu AUDIO, or maybe you have some better solution for resolving mic issue?
PLS HELP

Hi.
I'm using P768. I'm setup Callrecorder 1.3.1 but not work.
Thanks !!!
Odp: Callrecorder 1.3.1 not work
It will not work until bootloader is locked and we can't use custom kernels. Callrecorder needs patched kernel.

im using call rec and work great at 4.04,now i have JB but does not work any more..Now i try total recall and call recorder and both not work,,so question is does must root my JB 4.1.2 to work this app, or exist chance without root, app work very bad now because record on at mic, so sound is teriball but voice link when going on write dont suport. So what you think?
"Record My Call" is FREE and does not need rooting. I always used it since a year without any issues. Crystal Clear voice recorded both sides. Many options.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.record.my.call&hl=en
Just Select "Phone Call" option in Trick settings for audio source to record both sides clearly.

First problem phone call not support, just mic

some recommendation ?
Hello,
I have the exact same problem as you, I am currently on a P760 with JB V20C Europe (the problem also occurs for me on V20B), I tried tons of applications to record my calls (skvalex Call Recorder, Total Recall, Record My Calls, ...) without any success.
If I select a setting with "Mic" or "Default", I end up with a sound file which have the good duration but which is empty.
If I select "Phone call" or "Voice Up and Down" (or "Kernel" but no surprise for this one as there is no current 2WCR support), I end up with absolutly no file recorded : some applications seems to "crash" when the call starts.
Does someone have any idea ?
I read on one of those application description that LG integrates on his ROMs a protection against call recording. Is it true ?
Can someone which get it work on the P760 give his precise ROM (version and region) ?
Thank you very much for your answers
We need to wait for 2way call recording option enabled in kernel

This is not working at all on V20D HongKong. I am also looking for good call-recorder.
Btw, this one works but sometimes call recordings are dropped or noise is recorded.
EDIT: Just now re-downloaded latest 21-4-2013 build of "Record My Call" and hey. The calls recording are working fine. Except one or two calls are dropped from recording but now seems improved a lot. I have disabled preview after call end.

Seriously, I don't understand how it works. I just tried the last version of this application and I still have the same issue on my phone (L9 P760 with JB V20C Europe) :
- "Phone call" setting makes the application fail to record (no file generated)
- "Microphone" setting makes the application record an empty file
Maybe it is due to the ROM region (some Europe countries laws forbid calls recording). I should try your ROM version (V20D HongKong). Is a P765 ROM compatible with P760 ? (I will probably lost the NFC feature but I don't even know what usage I can do with it )

I just tried to install the same ROM as you (V20D Hong Kong for P765) on my P760. I installed "Record my calls" and disabled call review after record. The result is still the same :
- On "Microphone" audio source set, an empty sound file is recorded (with the good duration)
- On "Phone" audio source set, a message appears on a call and it says the call cannot be recorded
Is there a real hardware difference between our phones which impacts call recording ? That could maybe explain also why all the current custom kernels goes to panic on my phone .
I finally find a solution to my issue and I can record my calls ! Tested on a P760 with JB V20C Europe (root required).
By looking on Internet, I found a TI-OMAP device which has call recording officially supported : the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. So I decide to apply the call recording method for this device on my P760.
Here is the method
- Install ALSA Mixer (this application requires root)
- Check if ALSA Mixer is operational (when you start this application, you should see a low level I/O part names list)
- Install Skvalex Call Recorder (I used 1.3.5 version)
- In Call Recorder setting, select the device "Galaxy Nexus (GSM)" instead of "LG Optimus L9"
- Make a incoming call from an external phone
Your call should be recorded !
EDIT : Just to tell, I installed the 1.3.9 version and a reboot was required for valid call recording with this trick.
you saved me
tank you
make good
nooo
after 1 or 2 hours stops working registration
I only hear my voice
I have P760 with JB V20D vodafone
Does someone have any idea ?
P.S.
I disabled the task manager but it did not do anything
something stops working, if I restart the phone it works for 1 or 2 hours later...
I know that some recent ALSA Mixer update forces me to also update Call Recorder because it wasn't working anymore.
My current version of ALSA Mixer is now 1.1.3 and CallRecorder is 1.5.2. My ROM version is V20L.
It also seems that the author has fix the invalid parameters for LG Optimus L9 with JB. Now, you do not need to set "Galaxy Nexus (GSM)".
I tried to uninstall and delete all folders
now about 7 hours that works
hopefully good
however, use your own version
P.S.
thanks anyway for the help
The title pretty much says it all.
My S3 i9300 does not have outgoing voice for the phone, I can hear callers but they cannot hear me unless I plug in a headset then it all works fine. So I am trouble shooting it and I find that the voice recorder does not have a voice input either but when I use the video camera it picks up sounds and voice just fine. So unless there is a separate microphone for the video camera then I ruled out a broken mic.
So I search this and other forums and have turned off the noise reduction option in the phone settings and that did not work so I am out of ideas at this point for software and all the other suggestions are replace the mic.
It is running a factory android ver 4.1.2 baseband I9300XXELLA Kernel Ver 3.0.31-748978
Any ideas would be great as I am stumped

hi dude
to eliminate doubts about if there is a hardware or software problem
troubleshooting tips:
1 - you did tested physically the microphone - suppose to work fine (recording works for video camera)
2 - you did tested the apps camera and dialer - does not working (this suggest problems in this particular apps)
3 - backup your user apps (titanium, rom toolbox, go backup ... wherever ... your predilect backup app)
4 - do in recovery mode first the basic wipes ... cache ... dalvik ...
5 - reboot and test - if works ... good .... else next step
6 - again in recovery mode full wipe - reset factory
7 - reboot and test -
7.1 - I do a plus, after this I do a Factory data reset. Just to eliminate any residual stuffs. if works ... good and you can do a recover user apps .... else next step
8 - flash the favorite rom
("custom or stock - I really like custom ROMs ... more power .., more performance ... more control ... there is the problem with samsung warranty - who cares ... LOL" from old post)
9 - full wipe ... "zero old garbages" ... reset to factory default ... internal format ... etc ...
10 - reinstall the apps from backup, just apks ... test it
11 - verifying that all right, do recover your data apks ... etc ... test it
12 - and ... voilà ... else
13 - service centre
good luck
PS.
for stock fw search it from sammobile (stock rom - to your country / language) - needs register

Samsung Galaxy S III/GT-I9300 - Wiki - look this ... many and good links - how to install , root, recover , etc ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_III/GT-I9300
or here in xda - I do recommend a custom rom rooted ... try It ... you will want more and more power ... LOL ...
[10/04] INDEX of ROMs [Android Development Forum] - read in changelogs if the rom support multi csc ... nice fun

Thanks for the help PS,
This one is a real challenge. After doing as you suggested and that did not work out I did take it to the local Samsung service center and what they told me was.......
Water damage and it needed a new system board. However I did get them to do a factory wipe and reload but still the same issues. No mic for regular phone or voice memos. However the mic works fine when I plug in a headset.
So not I am really stuck as how can water damage kill the mic on only some apps? The mic still works fine when recording video and everything else on the device works fine.
Did you find a solution for this problem?

Its strange that only some apps are effected unless there is a sperate mic that is used by video recorders. Where as the phone app uses the one at the bottom

I was thinking the same thing that there must be a second mic but in all the googleing and other forum research I have only been able to locate the one. The phone works great with an earbud headset but once I unplug it even during a call the person on the other end of the line cannot hear anything I say.
If anyone has a totaled I9300 that they do not want to repair because the screen is broken let me know because if it has a good system board I may be interested.
Thanks

Hey I have the same problem as yours and indeed there is two microphones in the s3. One located on the bottom and one on the top. During calls the top one is there for noise reduction, but for video recording the top one is used to grab the sound (maybe both) but top one is active for sure. Try blowing/tapping on the top hole during a video you will understand.

Very interesting that this is true, I will try and fix on it some more but since I cannot get the mic parts nor do I have the skills for serface mount soldering. I suspect this is now relegated to the kids for playing with as a small tablet. With a good protective case of course. Thanks for the responce.
My samsung galaxy grand 2 has the same problem too.. no mic sound even I do factory reset nothing change.. and I bring it to Samsung service center because it still has a warranty.. The customer service said they replace the board and now its working.. :good:
