Cleaning Rezound Earphone Lint Trap? - HTC Rezound

Any ideas? Compressed air works sometimes. I was thinking about trying a q-tip damped with alcohol very lightly.

It is a dust trap. Disassemble the phone and then boil that red piece.

I used a brand new soft toothbrush and rubbed it clean. Was amazing how clean it was after.
I saw someone else mention to do that which is why I did.

I've just been ripping a piece of paper and folding it in half to get into the crevices and scoop out the nasty crap whenever I notice it. The same goes for when I want to clean out stuff lodged around the glass.

Y'all should take it apart, look at the back of the ear piece
It's nasty

LOL @ Lint trap.
Yeah it annoys me too. I used a toothbrush on it with some rubbing alcohol. worked like a charm.

Best way to clean the screen?

Any suggestions?
Sent from my EVO 3D
make sure you use a clean cloth (nothing that will cause scratches), do NOT wet or use windex, and rub gently in a circular motion.
I have an invisiShield on my screen, had one on my first Evo4G, but after the 5th replacement I stopped buying them. I got the fingerprint resistant and smudge proof one, and it is probably the best screen protector I've had.
I use electro-static wipes to clean the screen. Works great, leaves it free of dust and water spots/smudges from chemicals. Without a screen protector, I used the same electro-static wipes with a gentle rubbing motion and it worked great. Hope this helps.

Wire Scrubbing Brush!
Whaaaat? You never said GOOD suggestions...
I use my shirt and my breath. I wear glasses, so it's a perfected technique. I don't really own any clothes that are rough and would scratch the screen, so it works for me!
If you don't want to do that, buy a microfiber cloth rag, cut it down to about credit card size, and throw it in your wallet in between 2 cards you never use. Voila!

As I post this, I'm looking down at my device noticing the smudges from this afternoons use. I simply breath on it, rub it on my pants or shirt in circular motion too. Viola, it's clean.
When I got my EVO 4G, Radio Shack had a $20 gift card to use with the EVO, I opted for the HTC screen protectors. The first day I had the device, I watched a YouTube video of a user who received his EVO 4G DOA. He demonstrated an attempt to scratch the screen with a key before he returned it. Lo and behold, nothing happened. Now, I never attempted that exercise but I never used the screen protectors and never had the first scratch on the screen in the year I had it.
T-Shirt & pants, never got a scratch.

pant leg, or shirt
I always used a damp bathroom towel.
I use my sons cleaning kit that he uses for his glasses, comes with spray and a fine micro fiber towel
zagg wipes work well. little pricey though.

I've used those small squares that have alcohol on them, normally for medical use. The alcohol evaporates, leaves a clean screen, and is nit "wet" so you don't worry about water damage.
Pants pocket keeps mine clean.
Beware of alcohol wipes as they can discolor some plastics over time.

I usually clean my phone after I take a shower using my damp bathroom towel. It works awesome for cleaning not just the screen but the entire phone.
The first thing I did was buy a zagg screen protector and it also comes with a micro fiber cloth .it works fine and if I somehow leave the cloth at home I sometimes use my clean white t-shirt it gets the job done
Micro Fiber
I use micro-fiber. However once a week I take a little bit of alcohol (very little) on a cotton ball and quickly clean and dry. I am a bit of a germophobe sometimes. And before you flame I have been doing this for years and alcohol evaporates almost instantly. I use it to clean water damaged iPhone logic boards. The key is use a barely damp cotton ball and dry instantly with micro fiber.

Removing Scuffs on Screen?

Unfortunately lately some scuffs have started to show up on my i777's screen. They look like scuffs from my pant pockets. I've tried micro fiber cloths with just a little bit of water with no luck. Any ideas? I'm a bit bummed at the moment.

Before long time when we used CDs and when it was having a lot scratches he used wool and tooth paste polishing it 10-15min and no problem after that..
If you are sure that you want to try this method on cellphone. If you don't believe me try with CD first
You could try plastic polish, it can be found easily in any car parts store. You apply it with a micro fiber and remove it the same way just like wax. Its not too abrasive since its meant for plastic gauges and such.. should help.
I've heard of the toothpaste and wool trick, but I'm never sure if someone is just trolling to get me to smear toothpaste on my phone. Does it matter what kind of toothpaste? Gel? Classic paste? Mint?

Well a CD surface and phone screen are different surfaces aren't they? Don't know if I'd use the same technique but that's just me..
I'll try to find some plastic polish. I'm in Spain for the next two months so it may be difficult.

Seriously. There's no way that a pants pocket should be scratching/scuffing that screen absent some other contributing factor (keys, coins, etc.).
I've had this phone for less than a month, and I keep it in a case/holster, but my prior phone also had Gorilla Glass and endured two years of pants pocket indignities thrown at it, with nary a scratch.

So it is gorilla glass? 2 people at att told me Its a hardened type plastic screen. My phone too has a faint scratch that I can't remove but it wasnt just from jeans like you mentioned.

It is gorilla glass. Sand generally with scratch it easy, but otherwise its really good. I have had mine since October, never a case or screen protector. I have one small 1/4" scratch.
The problem I am seeing is that it seems I have worn off the oliophobic coating in an area about 1" square. I always use my phone one handed with my thumb. You can basically see the vertical and horizontal path I swipe, if I get any oil on the screen, like from food.

I've used tooth paste to remove scratches from cds. it has polishers in it for your teeth. i wouldnt use steel wool though. use the softest cotton shirt.

I thought it was glass not plastic? But really I have know idea but would like to know if anyone knows...
Edit OK I checked the wiki about it its glass...

Some toothpaste brands are more abrasive than others... In the Army, we used regular Crest to polish our bits of brass, because it is abrasive. (I guess gel-types would not be as much, but that might be a good thing for glass...)
You will also want to be careful of rubbing off the anti fingerprint coating (actually you will have to), but only do it in the area of the scratch. don't go crazy all over the phone.
Glass = much harder than the calcite abrasives in toothpaste, plastic polish etc.
You'll have to use a zirc, diamond, or aluminium oxide/silicate polish like those used for polishing hard metals. And not only would you rub off any coatings, but the screen is already very thin and polishing it will make it thinner and weaker...
Try just exactly wat ur doing but a dap and I mean dab of winter green achole

That made me lol.

A smart man learns from his mistakes. A wise man learns from other people's mistakes

And I am by no means a wise man.
Turns out the Rezound doesn't do well with a rubbing alcohol bath, even high concentrations (99%). Spilled some on my phone and it's causing soft rubber foam pieces to come apart...and has got under the screen, causing severe degradation of the backlight. My Incredible (ADR6300) was a better built phone and the LCD was sealed, so when it got soaked after my cat knocked a glass of water on it, I used rubbing alcohol followed by a bag of rice to displace and absorb the moisture...and it turned out just fine. The ADR6425 on the other hand, seems everything is held together by adhesive...
So yeah. Don't soak your phone in rubbing alcohol.
I used rubbing alcohol and a q-tip to clean a lot of the tight crevices on my old Rezound. I never had any problems. Then again, I also used a screen protector.

Well yes, because why would I ever submerge my entire phone in a liquid.

I actually did this to my Inc, although it was in pieces. Alcohol seeks out and displaces moisture, and evaporates cleanly. However as a solvent it's not very kind to some milder plastics, foam, rubber, etc. Durrr...new Rezound on the way.

Cleaning Tips

Don't try to clean the speakers with isoprophyl alcohol.
It removed the obstruction, but caused https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pPwTcv59p0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
My next one is gonna be silver lol
"Spray it with alcohol"? Why would anyone suggest that? It doesn't make any sense. Moisten a cloth with some and wipe, sure, but not spraying it on.
Why would you spray a cell phone period, especially around the speakers with Ny kind of liquid? Whoever said that is a complete idiot! I hope it gets better.
water
I also heard that using alcohol on the screen is bad for it as well idk just use water moisten cloth and clean.
I know from experience I used to use glass cleaner on my glasses and the lenses would crack. Never do it on a screen.invest in a micro fiber clothe forum a lens crafters or similar store and use that to clean the screen

lol wtf would you spray anything on your screen ... i use a shirt and clean my phone or Fiber cloth NOTHING went ...
Just use microfiber cloth to clean the screen. Works like a charm for me.

I heard using steel wool works wonders... Seriously if you don't have a screen protector on it, virtually any software surface that is free of debris should work well.

Cleaning the back of the tablet.....

Any tips for how to properly clean the rear of this tablet? I love the finish but it's terrible for smudging and prints. I want to clean it good and then get it into a new case. I have at my disposal:
Windex
99% Isopropyl Alcohol
50/50 Isopropyl Alchol mix
LCD wipes (which have the same chemical I believe)
"Screen DrX"
"Glass Cleaner" spray
I'm a bit reluctant to just try all of these as I fear anything wet will leave permanent wet looking smudges in this material.
Thanks
Simply don't clean it - when you plan to put it in a case you won't see the smudges anyway.
It's waterproof. Use washing up liquid, scrub and rinse off with water.
I wash it at the same time and in the same way I wash my hands after a dump.
Tap water + hand soap lather
Just use water and a towel... Also babywipes work nicely. It's water proof so don't be affraid.

And this is why I have a white one..
White WOULD be nice if the front border around the screen was also white. Now it just looks cheap
Sent from my C6503 using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks I'll try the soapy water/towel. I know it's waterproof but that material seems like it would just absorb any kind of oily cleaners.
