S3 getting hot... - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I'm using my s3 with Omega ROM, but after using it for 10 minutes, it gets really hot. Please any help what should I do? and which kernel should I use ?
thanks

Please don't use ubersized fonts... It makes it damn hard to read.
The phone getting hot is in 99% of the cases an app running amok. In a few cases the battery is the culprit.
Get a TaskManager and BetterBatteryStats (if rooted, free on XDA) to see if any app is causing the drain.

Install a battery monitor and see what temp you getting.

Change custom kernel

Problem of overheat !!!! HELP...

I have the ROM Omega 9.1 and i Have the kernel Franco.kernel R11.
I have tried all the kernels, but My phone is ever hot.
When I don't use it (the night by example), the phone is at 30°C.
And when I use it , for internet browsing or to see a video, in 1 minute, it goes up to 40-43 °C !!!
It's horrible...
What can I DO?
HELP ME...
revert back to a stock Rom firstly and see if the problem persists.
Alternatively see if any app is hogging the cpu but you would have probably niticed crap battery.
A're you overclocking?

I have tried the ROM stock during weeks... and the problem is the same...
No I'm not overclocked...
this phone is horrible... it's so hot...
33.8c here with light use but its hot in the UK.
I'd expect 50c with some games which is definitely warm and I'd also expect that sort of temp if using whilst charging. Wouldn't worry unless your device starts getting above 55c to be honest. also depends a lot on the ambient temperature.

Install betterbatterystat(bbs) and check what is causing wakelock. And we need more info like is data on or wifi on the whole day?

Your phone is not going to deep sleep.install cpu spy and watch the frequences because i think one app is not letting your device to go te deep sleep hope this helps

As it shows 60-70% used by 'Android OS' then it must be some app like thing!!

Just so you know data used quite an amount of battery. Wifi is better than data on term of battery use.

i had something similar not too long ago, and it was also happening first few days when i bought device the most:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871454
after few days my ICS and my battery made some sweet love i quess cuz i now have decent battery time.
read trough the thread, some say it really could be OS "learns" after some time about your battery (calibrates it)
some say its not that, anyway, i dident do anything and its good now.
cheers

Did you follow the advice of LexterAce in post #2 and install BBS?
If so, why not let it collect information for 5 to 10 hours and then analyze the dump? Almost always the dump can help you to find out what keeps your phone awake.
If not you could also post the dump and maybe someone else can help analyzing it. In the BBS thread are many useful tips and links about how to read and interpret the dump.
Hi, did you resolve the battery problem?
I am in the same situation, can you give me advice guys?
Thank's

Galaxy s3 over heated problem please help :(

Hi guys my galaxy s3 gets over heated while using it
in battery drain analyzer it says 41 °c as temp
is this normal?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
What claims your phone to be overheated?
Only that app or are there other indicators such as the phone being sluggish (it clocks down on overheat)
- Are you in a warm/hot region?
- Is the phone in a full body protective case
- are you overvolting / overclocking cpu or gpu?

If you're running games that'll happen. That's where the chips are. If you're getting that while the phone is idle or something use watchdog or better battery stats to find what it is and stop it.

[HELP] Extreme Battery Drain

Hello there.
For the last few days, the battery of my phone is draining at an exceptional rate even without use, power saving switched on and everything else turned off.
Yesterday morning it drained 5% in 3 minutes!
Any help will be appreciated.
Running stock 4.1.2
Unrooted

Buy new battery.
Any way I can test whether something is wrong with battery or software?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Please search before posting things as vague as that. No one knows anything about your problem. Are you using the phone when, or is that idle drain? Regardless of that, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2217943. Chances are someone else has already got the same problem as you especially if it's battery - related, so please search for it.

[Q] Phone running hot

I have installed the padawan jb v2 on my samsung At&t note. Everything has been pretty smooth up until a week ago. My phone has been running hot lately. I thought it was from overclocking ( although the phone has been overclocked for some time now) so I downgraded the overclocking. I'm still having the issue. Any thoughts or ideas? Also it's eating up battery life now. I'm pretty new at all this stuff and reading and trying to learn as much as possible. Thanks again guys.
All phones get hot the more you use it the hotter it gets the more it eats battery just give it a break or deal with the heat.

Do you have betterbattery stats installed? It will allow you to see if something is keeping the cpu from clocking down.
