Hey guys! I need some advice. I have someone wanting to trade me their XT912 Razr and I am possibly interested if I can utilize the phone with ATT. Is it possible? Is it worthwhile? Are there any how to guides?
Thanks!

You can not use the phone with AT&T, yes it can detect GSM signals, but verizon doesn't want its competitors to profit off of their phones, therefore T-Mobile and AT&T can not be used with the XT912. I'm pretty sure most other GSM carriers are fine though.
Thanks brother! That's exactly what I needed to know!

My wife and I are locked in to a T-Mobile family plan but she is in love with the new razr. Is it even possible to buy one online, root it, and flash a rom that would support T-Mobile? Any help would be awesome. Thanks
I believe the Razr is for use on CDMA networks such as Verizon. It will not be useable on TMobile.

Is it only CDMA, I thought it also had 2g,3g radio in it. Checking now.
Your only option would be to buy an international GSM Razr (XT910) I reckon. Maybe take a drive to Canada?

Thank you guys.
I have a buddy with a XT912 that he can't dump due to a bad ESN.
He is willing to give it to me, I have heard rumors that you can re-flash the XT912 with the 910 software to unlock the GSM part of the phone...
Will that allow it to work with AT&T?
The specs I have seen show the 912 has the radio built in, just locked.
Can you re-flash it for AT&T?
i would like to know as well. my gf has a droid razr.

Lots of info but don't think anyone has it fully working on AT&T yet, I know I'm stuck with it seeing the sim but never connecting to network.

I am hoping someone could help me please, I am trying my best and I have spent about 5 hours searching online for the answer, to have different conclusions.
I was living in USA, purchased a Verizon droid razr maxx lte 912 from a friend. I did not use this in the USA, I left in the hope to use this phone in the UK.
Is this possible ?
Many thanks
No the xt912 is specifically for verizon and cdma which is in the united states. If you wanted to use it in another country or internationally, you would have to get the xt910. Hope this helped

If you have the xt910 razr you can use different sim cards with it. The xt912 razr is strictly cdma which is verizon

The phone will work with any GSM sim if used "outside of the US". It will NOT work on GSM in the US.
So yes, you can use it in the UK without any issues.
if your phone has been updated to ICs then its fully capable of being used all over the world for gsm usage ( but not in the US )
just insert any gsm sim
go to network and select gsm/umts option and thats it.
the XT912 razr and razr maxx both have unlocked gsm radios for all gsm operators outside US.
is there any way to run the razr on an att network like straighttalk?

Which Razr do you have? I have the Verizon razr maxx and am using it on page plus. There are directions on how to flash it, or you can check on ebay. There are people who will do it remotely for you. If you have a gsm version, you can use it with straight talk, just change the apn settings.

I have the xt912 M and used the root instructions and was successful! (YAY Thanks ALL!!!) I am trying to use this phone with another carrier than verizon, What should I do from here? Will rooting phone be enough or do I need a custom ROM before I can do this? I LOVE my phone and do not want to buy a different one if I don't have to. Sorry if these are stupid questions but today is my 1st attempt at cracking my phone open.
So which carrier do you want to flash your Spyder to?
