Everytime I launch htc sync it says that no devices are connected. However my phone says its Connected. Then I got a popup from the app saying that it has closed unexpectedly.
I am running Windows 7 x64.
Also if this doesn't work is there another alternative?

I don't think anyone really uses HTC sync here, you're probably better off calling HTC themselves...why are you still using USB to sync...everything can be done over the cloud now through google, even connect with outlook etc. There are even task programs in the market which sync to google and outlook over the cloud.

I was trying to use the tether option and it says it requires htc sync to work.

I'm sorry I don't have my amaze with me for a few days, SO I cannot directly help you get HTC sync working...But when I get it I'll get back to you...In the mean time, contact customer service, unless you're unlocked...in which case, hopefully someone who uses htc sync can help for now
I'm having trouble with Notpod (formally iTunes Agent), here's the problem: When I try to select the folder on my Sony to copy to, I cant... it's grayed out. I believe this may be due to needing to change the USB connection mode but I cannot do this on the phone.
I've already seen that my laptop sees my Sony as a mobile device in stead of a removable disk, part of the whole problem I think?
Btw, I noticed that someone already asked the same question, but no one answered it in the end...

Are you trying to access the internal storage on a mac?
If so, this may help:
Go to youtube then add:
/watch?v=6vvW-9TPY2Q
(I can't post links due to permission, sorry)
Itunes can't sync with XPS cuz its connected via MTP mode and not MSC. If your phone is unlocked and rooted, what gm007 suggested might help.
Sony Mobile did release a Mac apps for XPS, Sony Bridge for Mac. Although a lot of users are reporting issues of processes hanging endlessly while syncing music and photos. Apparently, they are aware of this issue and are still investigating and gathering more info.
I think DoubleTwist allows you to do this?
Not sure if it works with the SXS though
Thanks for all the advice! Anyone has another suggestion than DoubleTwist?

Google Musi^U shouldn't say that. beets on desktop + copy/paste works fine for me.
What do you mean? I don't get it...
Alright guys/gals, I'm sorry to make this thread, but I've been messing with this for days and just can't get it. I'm hoping someone with XP 32bit may know the answer. Or maybe someones google-fu is better than mine.
So, here it is:
I FINALLY installed the sdk a few weeks ago.
When I plug my Evo LTE in, and type adb devices, the window shows my device. I can adb reboot bootloader and that works. Then switch device to fastboot via bootloader. But when I try to do a fastboot command (fastboot reboot) it hangs on 'waiting for device'.
Apparently it's a driver issue, I assume. But I just can't figure out what exactly I need. Or maybe a different fastboot.exe in my sdk?
Using win XP sp3 32 bit. Anyone else?
Also, I can't get my PC to see my evos internal storage. I've tried uninstalling HTC sync (but actually it still shows in manage programs) I've tried installing the 32bit drivers in the zedomax root thread. Numerous reboots. I've installed easytether from market and used it (I've seen some say the drivers from that help with various android driver issues). Nothing will get my (crappy, low rent, PC) to see my new Evo. Sees my old Evo just fine, always has. But I know USB/MS is different from MTP.
I'm not a total noob. I rooted my Evo on launch day 2010 and have flashed and modded ever since. But when it comes to PCs and drivers etc, I really am a total noob.
So, if ANYBODY has any advice or links to what I need, I'd be forever indebted.
Much thanks to any response (except lmgtfy lol).
Edit:
My PC doesn't have web connection (I really just use it for storage and android stuff. Also, when I check in device manager, it doesn't show Android 1.0, as some tuts suggest, it shows my HTC.
Also, when i plug into a win7 PC with a web connection, it grabs drivers and recognizes my storage with no problem (if that helps). Thanks

Look at my thanks, it's pretty obvious I've helped lots of people. But I am stumped on this. Please, anyone with XP 32 bit, and my fastboot just hangs on 'waiting for device '
If anyone on win XP 32 bit knows what I'm talking about, please advise
Much thanks. F:ck, at this point I'd pay somebody who can help.

I ran into this when I was rooting my gnex. Where it failed to install the android 1.0 drivers don't know if this is device specific but try this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9njewnlumKg&feature=youtube_gdata_player

haha thanks man. Total irony, I set my sdk up using QBkings videos and files cuz i was following galaxy nexus stuff cuz I got one for my mom for mothers day. . Still can't get it. Thanks though.
From what I've seen, most times when drivers are issue, device manager shows android 1.0. Mine doesn't say that. Mine shows MyHtc, and says all drivers are good.
Adb works. Fastboot no-worky.
If anyone else has struggled with XP, I'd love to hear it.
.much thanks.

Try updating or installing HTC sync, that fixed my issue with drivers. I tried to install manually and had issues.
FWIW I was on Windows 7.

I have the same issue using Win7 with the updated drivers used for Root. I have the SDK downloaded and all files that were specified installed to c:\Android. You can see my screen copy in the other HTCDev failed thread. I am stuck in the same boat. Hoping someone can help us with this. As some are getting it and others are not.

Well try uninstalling all phone drivers. Reboot and just hook the phone up and see what happens. Also could be the fault of the of the cable or you need to try a different USB port. And man WinXP 32? Somebody needs to update/ get a new PC . I'm kidding, I was stuck with two of em on XP, just recently got a new laptop with W7. If that doesn't work you could try setting up a Linux VM and see if fasfboot will work through there... but that a like last resort and only if you know what your doing on Linux or can google-fu quite well.

Would be great if one of the all knowing ones could make a script to do this. That includes the needed files and ish. Put this @ the root of C: and click the script that way if you do what your told you can narrow down what is wrong.

Here is the fix. The problem is the android 1.0 drivers. To fix install the PDA net desktop client. When you run it it will ask if you want to replace the drivers. Do this. Go to device manager and look for android 1.0 with the yellow exclamation point. Hit update drivers and browse to (x86/PdaNet for Android/usbwin (windows 7 the location will be different depending on your machine) you will see a security warning install anyway.Complete the installation and this should solve the issue.
Also as a note you may have to toggle signed drivers especially on Windows 8.

Thanks. But I dont show the Android 1.0 drivers with exclamation mark as other have. My drivers just show My HTC ≥my HTC and say they're working properly.
I did install easytether and had read installing it and it's drivers help. But not so far. Haven't tried PDAnet. Will try. Maybe it uses different drivers than easytether?

Finally. I got fastboot working. But just through dumb luck. I uninstalled everything HTC I could find and then tried 12billion different ways to update the 2 drivers I'd downloaded. I finally got the android 1.0 in device manager then tried every driver I could find.
Fastboot works now. But NOTHING I did got XP to see my device as a storage MTP :banghead: dammit, I NEED to be able to get to my sh1t.

Same, same, did you already unlock the bootloader?
Sent from my EVO using XDA
Nope. Haven't unlocked bootloader yet. It's gonna be tricky, too, I think. As you need a web connection. My XP with SDK and adb/fastboot doesn't have web.
But the PC i have access to with web DOESNT have the sdk set up (which it sounds like you need to accomplish the htcdev unlock).
I wish I could help and tell people how I finally got fastboot to work, but it was countless driver uninstalls and reinstalls and reboots (phone and PC), trips to bootloader. (While in bootloader, I saw different drivers in device manager than I saw while booted,...and I think this was a key clue for me. This is where I finally saw the Android 1.0 driver to update. Updated manually thru browsing files, and used the drivers from the root thread.
Also the usb-windows drivers from qbking77. Still not getting any USB storage action gggrrrrrrrr :banghead:

Since uninstalling HTC stuff fixed it, I wonder if disabling HTC Sync would have done it as well. I know it messes with ADB, so I'm wondering if it messes with Fastboot as well. Just a thought. Good job working through it though.
Yeah, I believe so. Also, I just remembered, when I was doing a driver update (turns out there's multiple ways to update drivers with the same result) in a little window before browsing for the driver, it showed my HTC 1.0.XX and my HTC 2.0.1XX and I believe I highlighted the my HTC 2.0.1XX then clucked "have disk".
I'll try to get a screenshot in a minute, if I can.
In the meantime, this weird headset looking icon (or hearing aid) showed up in my notification bar yesterday and I CANNOT figure out what the hell it is. I've been all through settings and just am stumped and feeling really stupid. Anyone know what this is?

Hi
Has anyone had a problem trying to use sync manager, as I can't even find the option use choose it, from the USB option,
I installed this one from the htc website (arrgh I cant post links yet) which I got from the one x+ support page
dl4.htc.com/download/htc-sync-manager/setup_1.1.48.0_htc.exe
On the phone there isnt an option to select htc sync like I had on other htc phones, but once installed the software on the pc detected it correctly and let me sync media, contacts etc
I had previously installed 3.3.10, but that didnt detect my phone

Hi there. Honestly, sync manager is kind of garbage (for me at least). It's way too slow and as we can see, doesn't always recognize your device.
Download Android File Transfer. You can put music, photos, and all kinds of other things on much more quickly.
I have searched, Googled, etc. and have concluded that there is no easy or consistent way to sync photos, video or music between the HOX+ and Macs running Mountain Lion. If this is wrong I would very much appreciate any info on how one is able to do this.
This is the one thing that keeps me from buying the HOX+ over the Galaxy S3 which has the Kies and Kies Air apps and the Nokia 920 which has the WindowsPhone app. I have tried syncing both the S3 and 920 with my iMac with 10.8.2 and while neither sync is as trouble free as the iPhone5 at least with a little tweaking one can get the job done.
Does HTC really intend to just ignore the Mac base or is this situation just temporary?
Thanks for any help.
They are made to sync with the Google options, not the Apple options. If you want it to sync up right then use Google mail, music, talk, Picasa, G+ and other things. If you expect it to sync with iPhoto and iTunes then you are kidding yourself, I'd NEVER expect good support for those.
I'm a Mac user too, but I live in reality.

It feels like you didn't even read his post... he's not asking for solutions that sync with the native Mac applications, he just wants sync software of some sort that supports the HOX+.
fmcgirt, have you looked at HTC Sync? I've never used it, but it seems to fill the role you are looking for. http://www.htc.com/uk/software/htc-sync-manager/
Thanks for the response but the reality of my situation is that we have family members with iPhones and Android devices which currently all coexist nicely (sync contacts and calendars) on iCloud and music and photos with iTunes and iPhoto. And I don't expect good support but my point was that I haven't found ANY support for the HOX+ - not even that of the Kies variety for the S3. So I guess you are telling me that in order to own the HOX+ I will need to convert everything to Google services which of course can't happen.

When I was searching I think I found that HTC Sync has not been updated to work with Mtn Lion or at least nobody had seemed to get it to work yet. If it would work it would be fine or also Double Twist or something like that but there seems to be some "gotchas" in everything I looked at. Thanks for the suggestion. It was the type of feedback I was hoping for.

Have you been able to get it to work over USB? I had it working with airsync when I was at home, but now I am at school and they block network communication within the network and I can't get airsync to work. Any luck with USB?
I downloaded the latest HTC Sync Manager and it works fine on my iMac running 10.8.2 and the HOX+. Had to view the Gallery Camera Shots in the Finder,
move them to the Desktop and then import to iPhoto but otherwise all else seems OK.

I admit the sync stuff can be flaky. What works perfectly fine one time will not connect the next time, etc. What seems to help for me when I can't connect when I know nothing has changed from the last time when it worked is to restart both the Mac and the phone. If that fails then I try uninstalling and reinstalling the Mac apps and usually between these two things I can get the stuff to work but it sure can be a pain.
I would check your USB cable. For the longest time, I could not get things to sync with my Mac until my friend let me borrow his USB cable. Granted I'm running Lion, but I think trying a different USB cable would help. Try a shorter cable.

I think it must be something to do with my phone. I am using the stock cable and never had a huge issue syncing with HTC Sync Manager (crap I know, but on USB it usually seems to work) and then I put Viper XL 1.2 on it and now it cuts out midsync most of the time, sometimes android file transfer works and sometimes not. Just seems hit and miss.

You are not alone, HTC sync manager for OSX is garbage. I can't get mine to sync most of the time. I had to go with doubletwist, which I don't care for, but heck what can you do.
I ended up going with iSyncr. I would agree with what other people say about it being flaky, and with trying a shorter cable.
For file transfer, I've been using the Android File Transfer program from Google (can't find the link right now), and it also works sporadically. The most annoying thing with it, though, is that you need to keep your screen on while transferring files, or else it seems like the Mac thinks the phone is leaving USB Debugging mode.
My wife has a crappy old Dell that I had to break out when I unlocked and rooted with Hasoon's tool. Otherwise you should be able to get by without it.
FWIW, iSyncr did just an okay job with iTunes playlist. I'm thinking of just going with Spotify for all my music since I'm a subscriber anyway.
As for calendar, photos, etc, it would seem that the best bet would be set up your Apple services to sync up with your google account. For example, my wife has an iPhone 4, and I set her whole phone up to sync with gCal, gMail, etc. If she had a Mac I'd probably just set iCal and Address Book to sync with that. As for photos, I think you may be SOL, unless iPhoto has some sort Dropbox sync or other service I'm not aware of.
