Updated firmware o2 UK - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. Anyone on o2 UK there is a ota software update. Don't know how to do screen print though!

No need for the screen print, it is just O2's version of the LFB rom that was released for Sim free phones 2 weeks ago.

Ok thanks. Just checked and your right! Seems a bit snappier, brightness seems better also. Not much else seems to have changed tbh.

The Application Monitor widget that I downloaded from Samsung Apps no longer works since today's new firmware update. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling it, but it's still broken.

already done it. works like a charm!
from which version did you update and did you noticed changes in camera?
i.e. Autofocus
I just purchased my mozart yesterday with the very first ROM on it. only thing I did was to connect it twice with zune and manually check for updates. firstly I got the feb update and then the no-do.. As for the camera, when I press the capture button I have a small rectangular box in the mid of the screen like zooming a bit and then take the photo.. I am not sure if this is what you mean as I hadn't test the camera prior the updates.. one thing I have to state though is that the loading time for marketplace, games and apps is lighting fast..and i mean it.. you can say that there is no loading an they start immediately! Hope that helps ;p
haven't noticed any camera differences
updated from stock rom....7008 was it? Sorry i'm new to Mozart (only got the handset this week) and had the February update waiting on the first time i used it. That's the version i updated from.
Camera shutter speed is definitely faster which should mean for better pictures especially in darker environments.
Overall am very pleased with the update as I love the OS but the bugs were incredibly frustrating, and whilst some remain the major ones for me (dns server errors, calls cutting out, phone switching itself off) seem much better.

personally finding copy&paste to be quite temperamental....only managed to get it working properly once and that was copying from the URL bar in explorer.
Dont understand the reason for international english users NOT having voice search in Bing. The video i saw of it working was from somebody who obviously had English as a 2nd or even 3rd language and it worked fine for him....are you saying that it couldn't pick up my british english but it worked for him?
system DOES seem faster and more responsive - not that i had any real problems with system speed as it was.
For thise interested :

I just realised that I can't use voice search option either! I have English (UK) in my settings and currently on O2 UK network (phone is branded to Orange though). Anyone knows why is this happening? and possibly how to fix it?! Thanks!
I think they are giving the update in small batches...
I have only got the feb update till now..
Hope it would come any day........

i read somewhere that they were only rolling the voice search feature out for 'American English' devices
I can understand why they might not roll it out for other languages, but why they wouldn't also roll it out for international-english i don't understand.
considering it works so well for this guy : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oR3NvksYMPk&feature=player_detailpage#t=61s
i think it could handle british english perfectly well.

thx, that should awnser my question... i wonder why...
sounds like you didnt get the updated camera software.
what bootloader are you on?
and what firmware ?
the new camera app is supposed to autofocus without pressing the camera button half way... you get very much only stabalizied pictures after that, videorecording also improoved very very much...
i really wonder why carriers would remove that.... its a shame

what are the squares poppin up in bing search.. i tried to get them (now lookign for voice too) but was not able.
i think the guy has htc europe rom installed, he said he debranded his orange
also the model id states: HTC 7 Mozart T8698
thats the model id for unbranded models....
i managed to get them squares by setting
Redion & Language
Regional Format: English USA
Browser Searchlanguage: English USA
still no voice commands...
switched primary language to English and phone set everything to English UK
still no voice search, but its allright, im on early tmo bootloader
i get the squares ... they're just hotspots on the image that pop up after a second or two with 'trivia' about the picture.
agree with what you're saying about his mozart being unbranded, i'm just curious as to why it would be in some builds and not others - or why it would be in some english-speaking locales and not others.
He's in the UK by the sound of it (his accent - although a bit broken - has a tinge of irish in it and his searches all base areound belfast) so you'd have thought that the UK english rom would be fine.

hm, the guy in the video has united kindom region
he uses exactly the same rom as yours
only his firmware is 401 which is htc europe
061 should be your orange then...
i had this rom installed once, but i think i never tryied other regions to see if it would enable voice search... dont want to reflash untill there is a nodo jailbreak
mine is indeed 061
hmmmm
also his OS version is 7.0.7389.0
mine is 7.0.7390.0
his bootloader : 1.30.22.50.1(117833)
my bootloader : 1.30.22.50.1(117854)
looks like mine is maybe a different build number too then?
Maybe they took this feature out ?
it would be a shame if there was no way to get this activated though
I got the NODO update a week or so ago cuz I used the turn off internet method. Still no auto Autofocus. A bit annoyed as I think the camera is the best I've used bar the Autofocus issue.
OS: 7.0.7390.0
Firmware: 2250.09.13001.061

Has anyone else with a Mozart on Orange receive the HTC update that some people are talking about, I for one haven't.
that's odd ... exatctly the same bootloader, firmware and OS as mine but i have the autofocus
do you have voice-search?
AFAIK the HTC updates don't apply for Mozarts (yet) and there's no firm confirmation for what exactly the updates are or what they fix.

No voice-search I am aware of. Pressing the Bing search button brings up the same old screen. I wonder if this is due to the fact that I "forced" the update. Might try and restore my phone to the Feb update and see if it will then pick up the Orange one.

I updated phone without problems. Only little problem was with my language - czech, after update doesnt work phone in settings, after setting phone language in english was everything OK
Nothing yet in Spain :S
If anyone is on an AT&T phone and installs this let us know if tethering works or not.
It would be nice if it's there in this update.
nothing here too in Saudi Arabia both in my HD7 t-mobile brand & HTC Titan UK...
Hello,
I think this update will start to be released next week (for all equipments)
Maybe HTC launches a new firmware update with this new build too.
Thanks,
Santos
I think this is just an HTC update. My OS version is still 7.10.7740.16.
@Rickgig, tethering worked before this update. You just have to pay for it.

The OS version on my AT&T HTC Titan is 77.10.7720.68 Your manual update seems like it pretty easy to do I was wondering if I wanted to try this then roll back how would I do that since your file don't have the version my phone has?
Also, do you happen to know if this new version or any newer version takes care of the random power cycling/reboot that occurs like 1 or 2 times every 12-18 hours? My phone seems a little better now that I uninstalled the HTC apps (except for the HTC version of Tango video chat software since that is made for the Titan) hope that these updates take care of that too.

Hello,
You can see here and here
Thank You,

Hey guys,
Just updating you all on this if you haven't already read the Windows phone blog today.
They have mentioned in their blog that this update and the future 'maintenance updates' will fix more than the change log just to maintain any issues raised by the carriers. However, these maintenance updates will only be released to carriers that ask for it. So if your carrier did not ask for this maintenance update or anything else in future you won't get these kind of small maintenance updates. I am going to manually update my phone today as mine is SIM free and my carrier will never get me any maintenance updates.
I will post back if I see anything noticably different. I would however recommend that if you feel confident, then go for manual update as your carrier might or might not have asked Microsoft for the update. The reason I understand is these maintenance updates once applied require your carrier to put their crap back on your phone. Some carriers happily will do it and others will take long time to re-do their crap on the phone, which means you get update later than the world. I do appreciate MS's approach regarding maintenance update, but it's a shame we have some lazy carriers supplying network to windows phone!
I am thinking of doing the manual update as well. Would you indeed be so kind to post the result? I am curious!

How to switch my phone to USA native

I imported from the UK. I was able to change certain things but my Google maps voice is still in UK and some websites open their UK site
Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
I think itll change if you flasht US customized unbranded which you can find on XperiFirm (i havent checked but should be there) and flash it with Flashtool.
Z5 compact hasn't been released or even announced for the United States. According to XperiFirm there is no US firmware.
Then bummers, hell have to wait untill officiall one is released to be able to flash it
try Sony installer , see if it finds it, it worked for me
I have the Z5 Compact on its way to me. Plan on flashing the Customized CE1 firmware on it as soon as I get it. I'll update with results once I get it. Google Play should still be registered to the US and pick up on the maps and all from that.
Yeah her voice is just British for turn by turn
Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
Very strange. I have the Taiwan version of the phone, and when I set it to English (American) during setup, my turn by turn was in American English. I later flashed the phone to an Austrian firmware, and everything is still American English. Also, I'm a little confused how the OP is seeing UK websites. How would that have anything to do with the type of firmware he has on his phone? Shouldn't browsers recognize his location by his IP?
I am having a problem with the stock weather app. It is in Celsius but I need it to be in Fahrenheit. There are no settings inside the app so how can that be changed?

I had the exact same problem with the Taiwan version of the phone. Its craziness to me that there isn't a place to convert temperature scales. Such a basic feature. I ended up just downloading the Yahoo weather app, which does the job well enough in whatever scale I want.
I also imported and am deeply confused as to why so many of you seem to be having issues... When you first get the phone during the initial setup they ask what region you are in; all you had to do was choose United States...

I don't think that did anything for me with the native weather app (did't change it from Celsius to Fahrenheit). All it did was insure that my date and time was accurate. Is the native weather app on your device in Fahrenheit?
I did get my Z5 Compact and the very first thing I did was to install the Customized Central Europe 1 firmware using FlashTool and XperiFirm. I also checked off on all the wipe options when I flashed the firmware. Upon boot I picked English (United States) and everything I use has been native to the US. The stock Weather app is garbage and I see no way to adjust any settings with it either. Hopefully they can fix that in a future update. My calendar however still displays the temp in F which is really nice. I use the Weather Channel app for weather anyway so its no big deal.
I think I'd want to keep my firmware as UK because they get Marshmallow first
. Just use a different weather widget.
Oh I remember the stock one IS kinda cool though with the animation. Oh well

If you don't mind me asking where did you hear that UK is getting Marshmallow first? The UK firmware did not even get the 32.0.A.5.32 update while the others did.

It is not set in stone but suggested through several articles that I've read. This is the first I heard although of an exclusion of the firmware update. Is this true that the UK model was the only one excluded? This makes no sense

It wasn't the only one excluded but it did not receive that update. Granted it did the latest 32.0.A.6.152 update at the same time as everyone else, so who really knows. But if you take a look at the Z5 Premium right now on XperiFirm, the Customized UK version is 32.0.A.6.115 while the Customized CE1 version is 32.0.A.6.170.
So in my very limited sample size and recent experience with these Sony firmwares, it seems like the UK gets the big updates along with everyone else (not first), while other regions such as CE1 gets the incremental updates.
If anyone with more experience wants to chime in, I am more than happy to be corrected.
I switched my wife's Z5C voice to English US. I don't remember where but it exists.
I just got mine (from HK). After activating it in the US, I immediately got the message that a firmware update was available. Try going to the regional settings. You can change the voice as well. Mine was changed automagically.
Try changing the DNS settings in the phone to use a US provider? The *might* help, but it's just a guess.

Reviews for 32.2.A.4.3

Hey guys,
what's your experience with the new 32.2.A.4.3 firmware?
I have been waiting for some reviews on it as well. But it seems a very limited number of people have got it and they've neither installed it yet nor they are around here to tell us What I am expecting on this update includes 1- November security patches, 2-Updated camera UI (with manual controls as in XZ and X Compact), 2-A newer version of Xperia Home. (at least some of them, if not all)
The only thing I know is that 32.2.A.4.3 was an open source archive from sony. No idea what that Norwegian company did with it, but I have no plans to test it out.
Main reason I don't believe this is real firmware update: version going from 32.2.A.0.305 to 32.A.4.3 doesn't make any sense.
I am no expert but from what I see, all the listed firmware on developer.sonymobile.com eventually ended up being commercially released. I guess we'll have to wait for a couple of days and see whether it's going to be live in any other regions or not...
Well Telenor Mobil NO has gotten it.
Check https://xpericheck.com/device/E5823 for that...
Doing a diff between 32.2.A.0.305 and 32.A.4.3 open source archives shows just a few tiny changes. The ROM itself may have more changes, though.
Mines just updated, NOBA
I got the update today about half an hour ago. August security patch and about 90mb. Can't see any differences.
Me too. I updated. I don't see anything new. Camera app, launcher, settings, nothing. Just the August 1 security patch.
Updated and for me it screwed up my phone. Home and Menu buttons stopped working, but gave tactile feedback when I pressed them anyway. Back button worked though. But kind of rendered the phone unusable.
Also the top pulldown menu did not work anymore.
Needed to do a system restore to get it working again (joy...)
Don't do 32.2.A.4.3
Upgraded to :silly:
Phone is really slow after upgrade, most apps lagging and sometimes crashing.
Instagram is a nightmare after this upgrade..
Using screenshoot function takes 15-30 sec before picture captured.
Doing re-install in a couple of days.
DO NOT UPGRADE
There's a new release on developer.sonymobile.com: 32.2.A.5.11
Maybe is a fix of the problems in this version. So if you have 32.2.A.4.3 maybe you should wait for this update.

can you post some screenshots and newly added features.
Oreo update broke fingerprint unlock!
I got mine today. Model number: LG-H930DS (so HK import)
And I can no longer unlock phone with finger scanner! Tried just about everything - restart, fingerprint remove/add, factory reset and setup fresh.
Also notice a glitch in how icons have the square look even after setting "original" style in settings.
Could someone kindly shed some lights on this if they know? Thanks
In the UK here, H930... I've had it running for a few days now, the only thing it has done has destroyed the battery life.
Not very happy; I can still, just, get through a day but I now have to think about carrying my battery pack with me...
I would not update if I were you's...
Update arrived in the uk on a sim unlocked h930ds.
