It's not an exact solution, but you can use "Wi-Fi Kill" app to block other devices in network. So, your relative speed will be higher.
Google has kicked out this app from Play Store, but you can find its APK on Internet. Just, search..

What will wifi kill do exactly? ?

WiFi Kill spoofs ARP replies to trick other devices on the network into thinking your Android device is the router. Then, it drops all their network packets.

Will that crash the server tho? In other words.. will it get me in the ****

Which type of server you are talking about?
Original Wi-Fi router (with default gateway) and your device will work fine. So, servers on these two devices will work fine.

So mine and the router will be fine. Just all the other wireless connections will go down? Or does this include wired? Im guessin not.. but i aint riskin all the pcs goin down

As your device can't send ARP replies to wired clients without magic, wired clients will not be affected. Only wireless clients will be victims.

Thanks mate nice info..
Question is... is it really worth it lol

It depends on you.
Well, I have used it many times in public Wi-Fi. Here's the Internet speed result: 1Mbps to 25+ Mbps (could be more, but device had limitation)!

Automatic wifi switching based on signal strength, possible?

Im posting this for a friend, he currently has 3 routers around his house to cover all possible dead spots and he is looking for a way or an app that can automatically transfer connections from different AP's based on the signal strength, similar to what iOS devices do natively.
3 routers? How big is that house mate? I can connect mine with one throughout the house
Poor me
I have a relatively small house but I need 2 routers to have a connection down stairs in my room, but this is really off topic already.
Anyone, no native function or app for this on the S2 or andriod in general ?
Tasker is a good app to try. It can be configured to work.

Yes please, it looks like a hugely capable tool, but I only want it to do the one thing, switch between APs.

By data they mean over 1X/3G/4G. They would specifically say if wifi is functional or not. He mentioned he fixed wifi in his changelog.

What he said. I guess I just assumed you knew data meant over the mobil network. My comment came from the fact that too many people don't do near enough reading in the threads. My apologies.

Wifi issue

Ok so I've been running an unsecured network at home cause I didn't know how to set up a password. If well today I talked that issue and my network is now secured with a password. So when I try to connect my note to my network it asks me for my password, which I enter without fail because it seems to accept it, however I'm not connecting to the Wifi network. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Restart the router and the phone then try to connect again.

+1.
Also try forgetting the home network on the phone then reconnecting.

After you type in the password click on the network name again and click connect I have to do that sometimes for it to work
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Tried all suggestions but still no joy. I know I'm entering the key right because it worked on my laptop.
Any other ideas?

Ok I've tried everything, but I can't get my note to recognize the wifi. Plus my laptop is extrememly slow now that it is secured. I'm contemplating uinsecuring it to solve all my problems.

Network will be a bit faster unsecured, but not recommended of course
But now it won't recognize? Or won't connect?
You try all the different types of security?
Try to use a channel lower than 11.
You're on a developers forum and you don't know how to set-up a wifi password on a router. Wow!

There should be some sort of test you have to pass to get an account here.

If you have something helpful to add, add it. Otherwise, move on.
This happens on my note from time to time. Disabling then re-enabling wifi on the note usually fixes it.

I remember having to delete the wifi list because tapping 'forget network' wasn't doing that.
I also recall fiddling with a wifi supplicant file. Does anyone know what I'm referring to?

I agree, and you sir would fail miserably at being a decent human being. Piss off.
So anyways, did you try a lower channel? Is it an 'n' router?
It Is an m router and I did try lowering the channel, still no luck.

Try setting upnp inside router settings. Shot in the dark, but might work. What type of p/w protection are you using? Are you having issues with anything else connecting wirelessly?
Well, I use my network with open security. But I allow devices to connect if their MAC address is in the list.

Is 65mb the fastest wifi on the Note?

When on 5mhz N the max I get is 65mbs. I know my network will go 300 so is this a limitation of the Note?
Thanks!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
anytime a device is using a dual band router...5ghz is the fastest on wifi.....make sure when choosing it..your wifi setting are not on 2.4 or auto...make sure your on 5ghz as well to achieve maximum performance..do this by clicking menu in wifi setting I believe
Hmm, tried that but no change even when standing right by the router.
Thanks though.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
I think you have reached the limit of the device if you are seeing 65....g
if your just looking at your wifi screen and it says 65mb....that's not telling you much at all...download speedtest app in market....make 2 profiles 1 with your 2.4 ghz with password on router and a 5ghz one....now scan your phone and simpky try each and test each one separatetly on wifi, that's the only way to know what ghz is really faster, then looking at the wifi login screen..
You must not live in the US. I would kill for those speeds.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Are you sure your not looking at this menu..lmao....Yes the picture of my 2.4 ghz says 65mpbs but with testing. the note will never achieve this value..believe me...the most I have ever seen is upper 40's on wifi....the picture of your your wifi screen means hardly nothing...testing it on speedtest will verify what thkse actual wifi speeds are

Again ...I honestly can't remember.
That sure would a nice speed ...
My best is around 10 down ....g
This is my fastest on wifi...some higher on Lte...I made a thread in general section called Att apn hack if interested...here's my screen shots..
so yes its possible..

Utorrent stuck at 0%

Hi guys
I have tried in many occasions to use utorrent plus other clients in my S3 and can seek to get a single download to start, they all are stick at 0%
Thought maybe it was to do with the port perhaps its alport 6882 but I don't know what to change this to or how to forward the port to my s3 IP address.
Can someone let me know what to do to get this working?
Thanks in advance

Usually you have to forward ports on your router. Google how to forward ports and you will know

port forwarding is not setup on a laptop or phone (at least not only). You have to open the port on your router, assign, if possible, fixed IPs to your laptop as well as phone and then it should work. some routers also allow you to reserve a certain IP address for a certain end user (e.g. laptop or phone) which will help you if you do not want to give fixed IPs but use DHCP (the way I do it)
Is there a guide somewhere for that asi have no idea how to open a port on my router

For 3G you do not need to open anything as it depends on your provider. For your router there is one website that describes the process for nearly all routers, but I forgot the name.
Portforward.com maybe yes, or Google your routers name and open port

Sorry guys but have got nowhere with this....
Can anyone who has utorrent or ttorrent or any of these torrent apps say what they did from install to 1st torrent to get it working?
I assume that over 3G I shouldnt need to tweak anything yet downloading does absolutely nothing. Over WiFi I get the same.
I can pick up most things but really don't get port forwarding and not even sure that is the problem. I would love to be able to use torrent apps but I just dont know how.
I can get utorrent working on pc fine but googling and trial and error but I'm getting no where on my S3.
Can I get a little help?

If you have T-Mobile, they usually block p2p traffic.
