I tried inserting other sim card on the phone yet it still wont detect it. there are no problem in terms of placing it..

"This SIM card is from an unknown source"

I've looked around for similar thread(s) but found nothing. I recently followed the instructions on this website-> "teambamf.net/index.php/topic/3528-guide-to-install-ics-ruu-and-firmware-windows/" and got the phone started up. Unfortunately since I'm not Verizon (T-mobile USA) I've been stuck at the "Activating" screen for hours now and it keeps saying "SIM card from unknown source". Any help to fix either (if not both of these problems) will be greatly appreciated.
P.S - tried rebooting several times and still stuck at the Activation screen after SIM from unknown source.
did you try to boot the phone up first without sim card? The phone by default is locked to cdma and you would have to manually change to gsm in order for it to work.
Try to boot up without SIM (and also any SD card. I had issue that my sd card has a rom in it and it won't let me to get any network data, so I had to erase the SD card and it work. So start without the sd card). Then setup the phone. Once it's setup, change the network to GSM and then shut down and put hte sim. See if this works.
I would suggest check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421341
also, is your sim already activated? I am not too sure if you can use rezound ot activate any sim. if it is not activate, try to activate with a diff phone first and then put in the rezound afterwards.

If you have Verizon and a Verizon branded phone and are getting this message, you need to contact customer support.

Have you tried this solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1882355
Otherwise, the Business Sense ROM is based on stock, and this will happen on all stock ROMs, but it should not effect actually using the device... It would be best to move to a CM or AOSP based ROM.

[Q] [AOKP-Neo1.5] SIM card not recognized

Hello,
I just flashed my Rezound (S-Off, HBoot) to the AOKP-Neo1.5-Linaro ROM. Everything works well, but the SIM card is not recognized. I mean that I'm not asked any PIN code when booting my phone, nor later. In consequence, there is no service. In Settings->Security, I can see a field "SIM card PIN" but it is grey, I can't modify it. Sooo... I'm stuck, unless someone knows a way to manually activate a SIM card or something ?
Thank you in advance !
If it works in other ROMs, then you may have a bad sim. Most Verizon reps will replace that for free.

Yes, the SIM card works well with other ROMs and other phones. It is only in this ROM, so I thought the cause would be it...
I flashed a recent firmware (4.03.605.2, found on androidpolice). Back to stock Android+Sense, everything works great, and my SIM card works. For now I stay on it, but if I flash Linaro again, I will update here wether my SIM is recognized or not (who knows, it may interest someone in the future).
I have Flashed but my sim is not working

I think you better post to that forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1081
You will have more chances to have an answer.
However, after a few researchs, you can read that thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906401&highlight=sim+card
Maybe it will help you.
On my side, as I said, I solve my problem by flashing a Stock (~Factory) update to my phone. It updated, among other things, the "radio driver", which is used by the sim card (it's not exactly that, but I prefer let it simple). So in the thread you will post on the first link I gave you, I advise you to mention your hboot and radio (=baseband) versions, that you can usually find in Settings->About phone->Software information (I guess it's not the same path on your tablet though). Also, always mention your Android version and as many details as you can provide when you ask for help.
Good luck !

Weird Problem, Sim card reseting my phone

I am having problems with my phone because when i boot my phone it turns on normally, but then resets for no reason. it only happens when the SIM card is inserted, but if i enable airplane mode or remove the sim card (turn on with airplane mode turned off) then it runs just fine.
i read somewhere that it might be a baseband problem but since i have hboot 1.53 version S-on i cant update a new one.
any help would be appreciated. thanks

Try another SIM card. If it works fine, you need new SIM, if it does it again, your SIM slot is broken

[need help] razr xt910 NO service But phone is reading sim card & its contacts

Guys I have a strange problem my razr wont connect to any of the data 2g or 3g only on custom roms like 4.4 Kitkat,Carbon rom etc . I flashed them on slot 1,2 even on stock slot but no luck.. I tried to change Baseband But It always failed So guys help me.....
Edit 11.12.2013:::
I fixed the problem partially..
I fixed the network mess It was bad radio which did this all I flashed ICS radio and now network works fine in all roms (Stock and Custom) BuT bo mobile data on any of them
Edit::::
Now Phone says NO SERVICE on both stock And custom rom but reads sim card contacts & SMS's...
I tried reflashing stock rom But no success. Help me guys...
2g/3g for many of the newer roms has been a problem with both the XT910 and XT912. I know with cyanogenmod 10.2 I'm still not able to connect to 2g/3g although LTE does work. With the newest release of cyanogenmod 11 though I do get 3g and LTE, although some people have been reporting they are not. Seems it's headed in the right direction. Give the latest CM11 build a shot and see if it works for you.

kk but still i have no luck getting 3g on newer versions too.
Is there any APN that saved in your network setting? If it doesn't, set it and save it by hand.

Can you make a call? Did you have paid the SIM card cost?
Sorry for my bad English
Yup my SIM is in contract and working on other phones I can make and receive calls but not on razr I get NO SERVICE message
Open the phone (or dialer, whatever you would like to call it) and Dial *#*#4636#*#* and go to Phone Information and tell us what the preferred network is.

Also:
What ROM did you get LTE Only on?
I learned that sometimes ROMs can mess up NV's. The only way of fixing this is to wipe everything and start fresh. And when you are flashing you cannot downgrade, it will fail every time. You may already know what I am telling you but just in case.
And what carrier are you with?

Hi. I have XT910 for more than two years. After brought the phone from Australia to Hong Kong (use Hong Kong SIM card) and back to Australia (replace SIM card with Aus one), I have the same problem as you. Phone can make voice call, but no mobile data connection (3G, 2G).
Want to know if your problem is fixed or not?

SIM card in but can't connect to any Network Service :(

Hi All,
I have an HTC Desire 601 phone that won't connect to a network service. This phone is a side project I've been working on. I replaced the screen and digitizer (the screen was shattered). I also unlocked the phone with a SIM unlock code.
Now, no matter what SIM card I input, it won't connect to a network. I've checked that the IMEI number is not blacklisted (it is not). It registers a sim card is inserted, but won't connect to a network -> I receive the error "SIM card doesn't allow a connection to this network"...every once in a while I'll also get a random "ME returned a temporary error".
I've attempted manually and automatically connecting to a network, but to no avail. I've manually input APN's for different providers, but still nothing. I've basically tried everything that was offered on XDA for other phones with a similar problem but didn't get any positive results.
The phone was previously locked to virgin mobile. I have a couple of theories as to what could be wrong but I'm not sure (I'm newbie when it comes to cell ware and its software, I just like to take things apart and put them back together etc.). One theory is that the unlocking wasn't complete in some form; not sure how though, considering it no longer asks me to input an unlocking code when i insert a different SIM card (i used a Koodo sim card). The other theory I had was the antenna, which I've read is often located in the SIM card slot (or in this case the frame), is damaged (the phone fell and had a shattered screen).
I no longer have a warranty on the phone, so I can't just send it back to replace (plus I like solving problems). I like XDA forums because they helped me flash my ROM on my samsung (after it completed a faulty upgrade and was stuck on download mode). I was wondering if anyone knows what I could do, from a software perspective, or if I should look into finding antenna replacement? (I don't think the sim card reader is broken as it registers a sim card is in there)
PS. sorry for the essay message, I just wanted to provide as much detail as possible

Before investing in some hardware, did you tried a factory reset? Maybe flashing a RUU to set back your phone to 100% stock (this doesn't remove the sim-unlock) could help. If the problem persist after flashing a RUU then yes its probably an hardware problem, its hard to tell what exactly.

I've definitely tried a factory reset, but that didn't work. I haven't flashed the RUU. To be honest, I"m not sure what the RUU is. Is it related to the ROM (I've flashed the ROM on another phone)?

A RUU will restore the original firmware and software on your phone like if it was brand new. If the problem persist after flashing a ruu, its most likely an hardware problem. I have posted a few RUU in the general section, maybe there is one that fit on your phone. Check link in my signature.

Ok, so I've looked for an RUU that matches my model (details below) but I can't find anything (I'm probably looking in the wrong place):
Android version: 4.4.2

Can I use an RUU that's close like the one below?(from your thread link)
