(Q) How to boost 3g speeds - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Isn't there a tweak you can do??

No real way to increase speed from what I have tried. Some users say switching PRLs and modems can yield results. There is also a file you can edit that is said to increase speeds. But it has mixed results.
Here's the link.

New modems for t-mobile, at&t

Would you guys who are on t-mobile looking for new modems be interested in maybe lower speeds but more consistency, and lower ping? I'm admist creating a couple of new modems for us and was interested if it was just brute speed you guys were looking for.
As for AT&T anyone interested in other modems? Maybe ones that don't support LTe ( a lot of people don't have LTE where they live, or prefer battery life so don't use LTE), or maybe ones with LTE&HSPA combo.
let me know guys. Its quiet a good feeling seeing you guys get better speeds and such on your phones.
I would be interested in slower but more consistsnt speeds.

I'm interested in not having lte. My phone constantly switches at my house not picking up a solid lte connection and its draining my battery.

Because 4g/LTE is not available everywhere. and there is no boost available, on a system that does not exist yet.....
Many cities are getting these enhanced backhaul improvements, but not everywhere, and certainly not soon enough...
We need true 4g/LTE speed to improve them....g

i guess its not a boost but maybe this will help...(depending on carrier/location/rom..etc)

My fault i didn't clarify I'm using T-Mobile and by 4g i meant HSDPA+ . Sorry. I was hoping
If there was a boost it would help T-Mobile users achieve better speeds. I saw there was a way to force 4G but that was on stock Gb roms i believe.

Might just be that people are using the internet on it. Most people only use download. Or might be a tower problem, like tweaking it or something to that extent

Yes. I get that often as well here in L.A.. often being a relative term, since I can rarely even get LTE!

Try using Android Tweaker from the Play Store. It will safely make those edits in the build prop for you once you check your desired options and reboot. Seems to make a difference for many users.

[Q] Mobilicty/ Wind 1700MHz MODEMS

hey, has anyone had any luck getting service on the official JB rom? im using a debloated version of the official JB on the BLAZE modem, my provider is Mobilicty. im getting around 3 bars on the modem but the top of my note is over heating, but i never had this problem on ICS . Do you guys know of any other modem that would work on 1700MHz networks without over heating issues??

thanks for the reply. thats the same one that im using at the moment but the back of my phone keeps heating up when im using mobile data. im wondering is there a different modem that would work on mobilicity?
Heat is normal for me under data usage. Every phone does that.
For the modems, just keep trying different ones until you find the one that works best for you. There is no 100% guaranteed to work modem for everyone. Good luck

I'm wrong! Lol thank you for posting Shane. So now it basically narrows down for the best modem that works for you.
There might be a Wind/Mobilicity thread around here somewhere. Wish you luck
Maybe here?

I don't know why? Now I installed padawan jb. Getting very good speed and 4g. I don' have any issue of overheating. Probably, must be a different reason

Might have a modem built in. Anyway, glad it sorted itself out! Woohoo

Using the same modem which I mentioned before. No issues till now. I am glad to get better speed.

Im with wind and use the telus modem which gets wicked speed. When using a cm based rom yhere is no need to tweak but if using a TW based rom do this trick, go into dial pad and input *#2263# then chose wcdma then pick 850 band, exit out and then go back in again via *#2263# and pick auto, wait a few secs and run a speed test. Mine hits around 2500 to 3000 which kill my hd2 at 1600 to 2000
