which ics? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

just wondering which version of the ics update is the best/most stable for me to install on my uk unbranded (3114) phone?
been waiting ages now, and interested in trying ics, but who knows when the official update will arrive for the uk
the nordic combined is the one that's reccommended in one of the stickied threads....anyone from the uk have any experience with this? or should i keep waiting for uk generic update?

There're no differences between different countries firmwares other than some bloatware apps, hence the version number is the same for all.
You can flash any of them, and it will work in your country.

Well yes the version its the same, but some firmwares have pre-installed garbage i will never use
For me the best right now (I have tested all of them XD...) its the LT26i_6.1.A.0.452_NCB.ftf Nordic Combined its the one i found "cleaner" than the other ones

Official 2.1 Update: Three different versions??

According to this page: http://www.htc.com/europe/support.aspx, there will be three different versions of the official Android 2.1 update.
The new Build number after the update will be 2.73.405.93 (EU); 2.73.405.94 (Nordic) & 2.73.405.95 (Greece/ Ireland).

I'm assuming each version will just have different languages but... why would Ireland not be part of the usual EU update? People here in Ireland speak English, so you'd expect the software to be the same as used by the UK. (I very much doubt HTC have translated Android into Irish!)
Are there regional technical differences? Can anyone think of any reasons why Ireland would share a ROM with Greece?
Bump?
Anyone have any ideas about this?
No idea why, but I tried it in the UK and ended up with the .95 version! I had been on the rooted 2.73.405.66, set my date forward and got the update. But it didn't seem to offer much at the moment, so I went back to my old rooted .66!

[Q] Which firmware to install?

Hi everyone, I am new here. I just returned i9100g for a i9100. Anyways as I look for the i9100 firmware at sammobile.com, there are tons of ICS available. Which one will I install?
Also I am in Bangladesh, however we get mixed region phones: Sometimes from Malaysia, Singapore, France, etc. How do I know which region I have, so it can guide to install the proper ICS.
I installed XXLPJ, everything works well, however I noticed that just like my initial i9100g, whenever I use the voice to setup alarm, it doesn't work. I fixed this problem when I installed the proper region firmware for my phone, which was French at that time. The problem is I don't know which region of the phone this actually is.
Any idea?
Thank you
I dont think different regional firmwares will make any difference in your alarm settings too...
you can check the firmware information by dailing *#1234#
ROM selection
you can have a look for the language supported by that rom, you can also go for custom rom, language information was given there that it support these many language.
Also i am agree with "zaheedahmed" that "regional firmwares will make any difference in your alarm settings" i guess this the bug with that version of ROM, so it better to upgrade your ROM.
Thanks for your responses. What do I need to look after after for the latest firmware, android version? Cause there are tons of 4.0.3

[Q] imm76d.i9300UBALF3

Interestingly enough I have not seen any posts about ALF3. Seems most talk is about ALF2 and ALF6.
I got my phone with ALF2 and ran the update and got ALF3..
Anyone else on ALF3, should ALF6 be available? It's not for me.

Firmware version and update interval depend on your geographic location, installed firmware and carrier. It can take several months for certain regions to get newer versions.
Just flash the firmware of your choice through Odin and you're good to go if you care about being on the newest one.

I am using the international SCH-I9300 on an AT&T MVNO (Straight Talk) in the USA.
Thanks for your suggestion, I usually stick to stock rooted, but will look into what fixes features ALF6 has over ALF3 before proceeding. Being that the phone is still new to me, I like it as it is

HELP Updating GT-i9300

Hey guys, I am new to the S3 and Andriod as I used to be an iPhone user before. I bought a GT-i9300 from Hong Kong and brought it back to Canada and cant seem to get any software updates. I am currently sitting at build number I9300ZSALG3, just wondering if anyone could help me out doing an OTA update or via Kies or if this is the latest version. My baseband version is I9300XXLG3

Your firmware is from Taiwan..and for it the latest version is what you are currently using..however you dont need to wait for updates you can download firmware for United Kingdom the latest is I9300XXBLG8..you can download it from here..
http://samsung-updates.com/get/58/Samsung_Firmware_GT-I9300_BTU_I9300XXBLG8_Android_4_0_4.html
then flash it via odin...search these threads for the method to do so..
Hi man, Unlike iphone, offical rom is always the worst one.It usually uses more memory and have bad battery management. You can try another rom such as mike's.
Sent from my lovely GT-I9300,by the way,I'm a Chinese!Glad to communicate with you

Thank you! I am not too familiar with flashing with Android again because it is something new and if anything were to happen I wouldn't know how to fix it since I have been an iPhone user. Is flashing firmware any different from jailbreaking the iPhone? - in terms of being safer. Also, how can I be 100% sure that the UK version will work on my phone as well as keep my unlock.

Flashing the firmware is 100% safe if you follow the steps..it does not root your phone so it is not jailbreaking...so you will also not loose your warranty...
the firmwares are almost the same for every region, samsung being an a***le released different firmwares for different regions with different CSC....
but i am quite sure it will work on you region as you are already using Taiwan firmware in Canada...in any case download the Taiwan specific firmware also..so if anything goes wrong you can revert back...
by the way I am in India using BTU firmware..
Me too...
Along the same lines, I have an I-9300 sgs3 with South Africa firmware (XFE), i9300xxale9, but I'm using it in the United States, on AT&T, and am not able to receive updates thru either Kies or Update menu. I will NOT be traveling outside the US anytime soon. What should I load that would let me receive updates here in the States OTA?

[Q] What firmware are you guys using and why ?

I'm currently using the generic AU firmware and i want to know which countries firmware has the fastest and "stable" updates to the device.
And just a few random questions regarding the firmware that you guys are using on your devices:
- Why have you opted to use that firmware for your device?
- What variations in software did you guys notice when you flashed another countries firmware?( eg. the different bloat/preinstalled software on that specific countries firmware)
- Did you see a drastic change in performance when you jumped to another countries z2 firmware ( this question is in regards to .314 to.314 not .55 to .314 etc)
- Why did you opt to use the stock firmware that you received with your device and instead of flashing another countries firmware?
- From what i heard using the flashtool to flash another countries firmware doesn't void you warranty, is this true?
I'm merely interested because i want to have the best experience and have the latest updates as fast as possible without the need to continuously flash different firmwares to get the latest experience.
.314 ftf should be same everywhere except for baseband...I am using 314 after rooting, removing some bloat and unrooting...battery life is amazing... Easy 2 days without charge

Why did you unroot again?
I prefer it that way...that way I am not accidentally deleting system files from ES file Explorer and also getting rid of files and bits leftover by the root exploit (which are by definition viral in nature ) just makes me feel more secure....
Generic German seems to provide quite regular firmware updates and overall has great stability.

I believe there is a bug that affect all .314 FW - those firmware have trouble getting OTA. Did you receive updates on the AU .314 software?
Flashed Generic German 314 last night. Working very smooth. Hope i will still receive OTA updates. But will wait and see about that.

That's a thread I made, but unfortunately no one has come up with a solution. It also might be a server side error.
I'll keep you posted if I find something out.
EDIT: I just quickly flashed the AU FW, but still no go. If you revert to previous firmware (.402), all updates are displayed properly. That's an obvious glitch with the new FW and all regions are affected.
