battery question - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Just wondeirng if this is right or not but not long after I take my phone off the charger the battery drops to 99% without me doing much. Is this normal? Cause on my G2 it took awhile for the battery to drop to 99% but when it did it starting dropping fast.

How many hours is your battery lasting on an average day?

I just got the phone on s
Saturday so it's hard to say. I was just wondering about the instant 99% after unplugging.

It usually will last a little while on 100% for me but I believe it didn't start to until a few battery cycles later. Even though the battery shouldn't need to be conditioned. It seems to have helped on this phone.

Agreed, this is what my phone did as well. It took maybe 3 or 4 cycles before it starting not irritating me with short battery life

Same for me!

Failed .15 update from .14 equals better battery life?

Like the subject said. I've got an unrooted (my lazy ass haven't gotten around to it yet....) TFP running .14, went to go update yesterday morning only for it to fail after looking at the poor guy lay on his back with his panel open for half an hour. Not a big deal in and of itself, but my battery life has increased drastically since, with no change of use or settings. Same start up programs, same power settings, nothing uninstalled/reinstalled, nada.
Not that I'm complaining here, but any thoughts? I'm kinda scratching my head here...

I'd hardly call an average of an additional 2 hrs of life a placebo effect. With WiFi on for duration, moderate internet use for video conf, and heavy note taking I would avg ~7 hrs from 100%-dead. Since yesterday morning, ~9 hrs between charges.
placebo effect my ass.

The absolute most it did was 'bump' charge your prime, nothing more. You'd probably get the same result from fully charging, powering off, then let it charge for a while again.
I considered that, but that's exactly how I charged it for the first week I had it last month (since I'm old school and still condition my batteries). Literally nothing has changed in the last month as far as use goes. I dunno, maybe it's just a damned fluke.

Is my s2 charging by itself??

As per by 9pm my phone flashed up with 5% battery remaining so i put it down to try and make it last the rest of the night. I just went back to it now to find the battery was upto 8%. I know its hardly a big increase but it even shows up on the battery graph that it has increased, you can see that it hasn't been on charge.

Anyone else had this happen?

pretty sure it violates some law of physics for a battery to self charge :O
its probably a software glitch where the phone thinks it has used more battery than it actally has then it rechecks and realised it hadnt used that much.

Basically. The battery graph is more of a guess of how much you have left based on current usage. If you use it a lot it will think it has a lower battery percentage. When you stop using it it adjusts itself. It has to do with voltage going in and out and all of that technical crap but this is the gist of it.

Mine did the same a few days ago, I loled . I agree with josh
remove battery and it would sure be at 3% 4%....
Happens to me quire a bit but mostly on reboot or flashing. Battery can lose as much as 30% but leave it untouched and it starts to increase. As Josh said it can also happen due to intensive usage.

Hey guys I'm on the 3.14 leak cleanrom developer rom. I've always had bad battery life but I heard this may help. I am using the extended battery.

Not too long. I use it regularly texting mainly but maybe some music streaming but not gaming it video streaming

i mean, press the "screen" on that screenshot you have given us and tell me the screen-on time...
my guess is something isn't being reported on there...
I have been experiencing the same problem with this phone since I got it, no matter what rom I'm on. While its off, it is fine. It will last for several days with the screen turned off. Once the screen is on it eats up 2-3% per minute. With an extended battery it will show the screen as taking up 99% of the battery and screen on time will be around a half hour.
i dont know what you guys are doing. im running 3.14.605.5 and clean rom 1.4 dev edition and im getting 24 hours on battery life and 4-5hours screen on time. how long have you been running it, it seems to take about 3 days for me for the kernel to settle and the battery stats to compile.

Regarding Settings > Battery

Hello guys, I'm trying to figure our how much my battery can last on one charge, but I'm having a problem in the
Settings> battery,
Where it is supposed to show the usage.
Every time I charge the phone and plug it out, the graph doesn't reset back to 0 hours and just keeps on adding on the total time the phone is on. You can see in the graph the battery percentage keeps going up and down, I can't get it to reset on every time I unplug it from the charger, even by pressing refresh.
Is this a bug for me or is there a proper way to do it?

Hard to evaluate first part because only you know how intensive you use it. However, the bolded part concerns me. Could be a dud? Mine definitely gets warm especially here (check my location) but not hot by any means. Btw, do you have Infrared Thermometer by any chance?
Battery report only resets when your battery reach 90%+ and you unplug it

T-mobile Battery Life

I hope I'm not the only one with this problem, the battery after the update is absolutely horrible. I have to charge it twice a day now. Even with the screen at around 50%...

It's not just you, but I have been able to last all day at 30% and turning everything off thats not needed.. and underclockin and also using juicer I think it's called

what the title " T-mobile Battery Life" ?
With all the bloatware disabled my phone still lasts from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep. Thats including streaming spotify for 6-8 hrs at work thru bluetooth headphones. Not really noticing a huge change from 10G. Might also be worth including I keep my screen at 60% and almost never use wifi. Also I get 3-5 bars service almost everywhere I go on a normal day. I'm sure not everyone uses their phone under the same conditions so just thought I'd include that.
I suggest all of you to give this Artas's TWEAK a try for few days and check again. I got really noticeable change after this tweak this week.
I've had pretty good battery life, i'm rooted and updated to jellybean.
I calibrated the battery
put the phone in battery save mode or airplane mode when i sleep,
and keep the brightness at 50s.
my phone just died and it had around a 1 day and 15 hours on it (with mod-heavy use, pandora, web,)
