I’m trying to use Juice defender so I can listen to podcasts at work without the network and syncing draining my battery but when I turn it on my network never seems to turn off, it’s constantly connected to 4G.
I realized that this only occurs with widget locker being used, when I disable it and use the defualt lock screen then juice defender works as it should. Is there any way to make these two apps work together?
Edit: I made it work by installing 'No Lock' and fiddling with the settings. If anyone else wants to know how to get it to work I can try to figure out what I did exactly. Otherwise a mod can delete this

I personally dislike SuperPower, as it's still in BETA phase. However, some decent features are to turn off mobile data (internet is pretty much turned off, however you can still make and receive calls/texts).
Switching to 2G/3G is good, but if you turn your phone on and off in quick succession, like accidentally letting it sleep, this could become a bother.
My advice is don't use it, though, and just turn off things like Auto Sync and Freeze unused system apps.

actually, it lets you decide a delay time when you put your phone on sleep to not cause that problem.

I like SuperPower, even though it is in beta stage. I use nero v3 w/voodoo. Prior to having voodoo, I experienced significant lag time when waking the device while it was switching 3g/edge or wifi back on. Now with voodoo I have no lag at all really and It saves a lot of battery life! bobbbb has a good point though, By turning off auto sync and freezing some apps. That will help out. There again, Its all personal preference and what YOU are trying to acheive with your device. Super quick with not so great battery life. Or a modestly quick device with great battery life. To each his own? Try playing with the settings and monitor for any changes. Also recondition your battery. Good luck!
just out of curiosity what are the settings you guys are using? so far i have 2g/3g switching and max 400mhz in sleep state with 30 second delay, anyone try the force install sidekick?
*edit* just read looks like sidekick is to be used on aosp roms
Hey guys, I don;t really use GPS on my Galaxy Player 4'', but I have notices that it will all the sudden display the GPS icon in the notification area even when it is off. I have disabled GPS and the "Use wireless networks" option, but the icon will appear at least once a day and won't disappear until I reboot the device. It just keeps blinking over and over until I reboot the device.
I have noticed it drains my battery way to quick when that icon appears (uses about 10% when the deviced is locked), which is crazy because it uses about (2%) battery power when it is locked during the night and the player does not shows that GPS icon in the notification area. I have killed pretty much every single application I have been able to kill to find out what app is trying to use GPS, but the icon won't go away no matter what process I kill. I use juicedefender and it has really improve my battery life, but when that icon appears, my device still will waste about 10% battery power even when it is locked with no apps running. Cannot explained why this is happening.
Has any of you had this problem?
Thank you
Try reseting to factory default, my batttery life on galaxy 4.0 is incredible.
I've had the same problem on my 5.0. I figured out it was an app that was constantly trying to get a gps signal. Simply going into the app and the exiting out seems to solve it however. It still happens but going into the app and exiting out helps. I would try to figure out which app is constantly trying to connect and if you don't use it very frequently uninstall it.

Difficult to pinpoint this app.
Do anybody know any way to log what app is using (or trying to use) GPS?
I noticed this happening today. I have my notification bar hidden, so not sure how often this happens. I could make it go away by turning on GPS and GPS Test, then back off. I checked for apps that might be trying to find a location in running services, killed a couple "maybes", but the icon kept blinking. Only app I installed today was Simple Calendar Widget, but didn't see anything in it's options that would be pinging location...
I have Power Tudor that shows how much juice apps are using while you monitor them, the only app there that looked like it could be was something like "system_1025" or something like that.... nothing I could find to stop it.

Also use Simple Calendar Widget, but I don't think it's the reason.
Did you use Samsung Dive recently? I did, in order to test the ring, lock and location service provided from within Dive. The service running on device tries to establish a GPS connection even if GPS is disabled. I didn't make a location trace, only a simple location test.
After reboot GPS icon do not show up any more ...
Looks like Google Latitude might be the culprit. Try opening it and signing out of that service. Also go into "Settings" --> "Location and security" and uncheck "Use Sensor Aiding". Once I turned those off the GPS Notification went away.
What does sensor aiding do anyway? Sure doesn't help the Compass!
I had the same issue with my HTC ONE M8 I did the same process as you. Went into my settings found my battery usage and saw what was draining my battery. It was groupon. So I force stopped the app and the GPS notification went away.
Hello all,
I have been using Juice Defender for a few weeks and the last two days I noticed I couldn't connect to the internet. I then noticed that my data network had been turned off and after doing a little research I believe that Juice Defender is indeed the culprit. Is there any other battery savers out there that are basically the same that won't do this to me?
Thank you for your time,
AJ
What are your settings in juice defender, cause you can customise power saving profiles..
I just set it on balanced. What is a good setting?
Balanced is good, click customize and set it to your liking... The free version wont give you much customization, you might wanna get the paid version "Ultimate" for maximum customization options..
I have never used juice defender, but most of the "battery saver" apps I am familiar with get most of their battery savings by disconnecting data except for short periods of up time.

OK. I wonder why it shut my data completely off and didn't turn it back on. Hows battery 2x
Just curious how much does juice defender actually save on battery? Currently I get about 4-4.5 hrs screen time, is juice defender really gonna improve it that much?
(sorry for the ot)

I personally found that JD killed my battery faster when it was enabled. I got rid of it a long time ago.
Alternative to Juice Defender? Nothing.
Just don't use it, except:
Use BetterBatteryStats to identify apps that are hogging your battery by holding wakelocks, and uninstall them.
Use Advanced Task Killer to kill wakelocking apps that you HAVE to keep around for whatever reason, but want to kill if they're holding wakelocks. (Like Facebook - that's the only app I kill after bootup at this point.) - Note, NEVER use an automatic task killer, and never use a task killer for memory management, only for killing wakelock holders.

+1 on that. I didn't see any battery saver app that does not do it.

Why not use AutoStart?
It prevents FB from starting all together till you actually open it up.
I need to figure out how that app actually works then maybe I can modify it myself in the rom/apk.
I use Green Power and it has helped me get longer battery life. The only thing I have enabled in it is mobile data tweaking: Mobile data is turned on only for a minute and then turned off for 10 mins while the screen is off. It has settings to define day and night (11pm to 6am). Above toggling behavior happens only during day while screen is off. During night, mobile data is turned off completely. You can even go to airplane mode if you want to.
Using Llama, I simply set WiFi to go off when screen turns off and turn it back on when screen turns on.
I also use Llama to turn on bluetooth when the phone is ringing or when I am in a call. Bluetooth is then made to turn off when the call ends. I don't use bluetooth for music, so this setup works for me.

I use the Titanium Backup Pro's freeze/defrost/launch widget to prevent FB from running in background. One click to defrost and launch it and another click to freeze it.
I use tasker. Very powerful program. Can tell your phone to do so much, whenever you chose. Since I am a lazy guy, I tell it to shut off data/wifi when screen is off. I also do things like disable Bluetooth after a certain time (don't need bluetooth while I am sleeping).

I use myprofiles. I use it to automatically turn off auto sync while I'm at work, and turn on airplane mode while I'm sleeping. I can get nearly 2 days with light to moderate usage.
I set it and forget it, never have to manually adjust settings. Different than juice defender, but works for me

I love tasker. Use it to turn on wifi when I'm near home, turn on GPS when I load up maps, and all types of other stuff.
What app (not just category but actual app) do you find is the biggest drain on your battery?
I get about 12 hours on a full charge and see about a 1% drain every 5-7 minutes!
I am about to put a new ROM on my Note and since I tend to run it loaded with apps that I collect, I was wondering if anyone has a list of biggest amp-drainers.
Some apps have settings that let you modify their behavior (K9 Mail comes to mind) but settings can be a bit confusing when it comes to balancing utility to power drain.
So...that being said...
Give me a list of apps that you run that you know kill your battery anyway some that are so stingy they get the Android Scrooge Award for battery use.
Also...
what are some of your best general power-saving tips for power-users?
Use a black background.
Turn off all your radios if you're not using them.
Leave your GPS off and just use WiFi for locations if you need to. If you don't use locations, turn them off.
Anything with a light background will drain your battery quicker on an AMOLED. Always use black wherever you can.
Never let your battery go below 20% charge.
Don't use a task killer - it was necessary for the older versions of Android, it's not now.
Set your Facebook/Twitter/Weather/Stocks etc. to sync every 3, 6 or 12 hours, as opposed to instantly (I still sync mail instantly).
These are a few of my runtime-prolonging tips. As for apps, anything that pulls data, displays a lot of white or moving pictures, uses a radio/GPS, and runs constantly will be the biggest drain. Things like turning off notifications in Tapatalk/XDA etc. can save you a lot of juice.
If you want to know exactly what is going on with your battery, you can look in the settings to see what exactly is draining the battery (sorry, I cant remember exactly offhand where it is).
Personally, I use an app called Battery Widget Pro by 3c that gives me more information than I ever wanted to know about exactly what is going on with my battery (just look at the screenshots on the market).
For me, the biggest drainer is the screen and phone calls but I only have a few apps installed.
All of those are good, and I want to add that under advanced in Wifi, there is an option to turn off Wifi during sleep mode.
Usually it is three choices, Always on, On when charging only, and off.
Make sure to turn it off during sleep if you don't need it. That can be a battery drainer as well.

Do keep in mind tho that rogue apps or those that are scheduled to perform network activities will fall back to cellular data if wifi is off.
BeyondPod is one such app, I have it on a schedule to download new podcasts at certain times of the day and if wifi is off, it will use cellular data if available. However, BeyondPod does have an option to only download on Wifi, but not all apps offer this.
biggest battery hog, which do you guys think kills battery more having the wifi on and connected or having the bluetooth on and connected? trying to figure out best way to save battery througout the night but with keeping watch on for time since i do not have an alarm clock next to bed and dont feel like rolling over to look at the phone all the time. but like to have watch bluetooth connected to phone with swapps link incase an important call comes in while im sleeping.
If i had a sim in the watch at one point but am now using the bluetooth rom if i turn off the sim card since its not detected anyway would that help with the battery life issue?
Would love to setup a tasker profile to auto shut off either bluetooth or wifi just not sure which is killing more battery.
Thanks,
There's ap App called Llama, not sure if it'll work on the Omate.
Try it out it does all sorts of tasker type stuff.

Llama works fine on the TS
I use it to deactivate wifi when leaving home and set wifi policy to turn off shortly after screen is off.
However, leaving wifi on is not draining much, I have borrowed one it is on for many days when not used. Not sure about BT.
(Using Loki's tweaks.)
What drains the battery is using any radio or the GPS and of course the screen, so deactivating sync is helping.
Will be sure to disable the gps hopefully that helps turned off SIM card slot also. What's the difference between this llama app and tasker? Is it smaller or something? I use tasker on my watch and it runs awesome.
sent from my note 3 running beans.
