I been running cm7 for about two months. And idk y the battery life has gotten a lot worse the past week or two! At first it was good I'm trying to figure out y its gotten so bad now. I checked the battery stats and nothing really sticks out as a battery hog (nothing not normal) . Any suggestions of what I can do?
Mine seems to be the same. Have you added any new mods or apps?
I've only added one new app. Draw something.
I've been thinking about trying the mash up mod to see if it helps.
Yeah. New thread old topic. Lol. Battery saver, juice defender....
Cyanogenmod
Thanx. I've tried some stuff like that b4. Don't really like em. and not really the answer I was looking for. Maybe I worded it wrong. But what I was trying to ask is y is the battery life suddenly so much worse. For the first month and a half battery life was great now its sux!

Are you doing anything different with the phone as far as using an app a lot more than before? Definitely playing games will chew up battery life.
Have you left something on, like Blue-Tooth, etc? I know GPS doesn't really eat up battery life as it only is used when an app uses it.
Have you investigated the new app to see what it does? Is that when you saw the battery life start to go down?
Nothing out of the normal. I am a heavy user. And I don't play games that often. But I found out last nite in spare parts that Facebook is not letting my phone sleep like it should when not in use. I definitely think this is the prob. Imma turn off the refresh completely see if it helps. Thanx

It that isn't the problem idk what it is. Cause nothing has changed. The app draw something isn't running all the time either.

I am not currently running Cyanogenmod but I did for a long while. When I was I got great battery life with it constantly. My advice to you would be to wipe and reflash CM7 making sure you wipe dalvik and cache. If that doesn't do you justice, personally I'd SBF and have a super clean redo. And one quick thing, I would never use a "Battery Saving" app, they really aren't the greatest. Each phone is different and I don't believe a single app is capable of saving your battery without some drawbacks. Good luck!

did you happen to update Google maps?
for some reason the newest version keeps holding a wake lock for network location, I uninstall updates on it AMD turn off vzw location and now it doesn't run constantly
I used the app, better battery stats to see what was causing the phone to wake so often from sleep, when idle
it didn't show in the stock battery stats tho

I don't play draw something, but doesn't that refresh in background also or does it only connect when you open it?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
The draw something app doesn't have notifications or anything. I don't think it runs in the background. It shows nothing of it in the battery stats.

Do you have 'Allow Purging of Assets' enabled?
Settings/ Cm settings / Performance Settings
Then check the box. It functions kind of like (and im being loose) an app killer and really does make a difference.
Just recently, I got rid of my battery saver and task killer and I swear to god my battery life has doubled; it's been fantastic.
Ive also got the Mash Up mod going, which if I might add, really clears up data problems and makes it noticeably faster.
My phone is experienceing severe battery drain whenever i use an app.
i tried switching between the leedroid v5.4 and nonsense 3.1 roms but both had the same problem anyone know a fix.
BTW i did not overclock

I noticed that my phone does that when I am in a weak service area. The radios use a lot of juice trying to get/keep a signal. You could try Better Battery Stats or Bad Ass Battery Monitor to see in more detail what is using your battery.

you can also try to calibrate your battery with serval apps! type in play store : battery calibration ! they all do the same job and preaty good i must say..
i recommend you to try : Battery Calibration free . thats for rooted users and does great job!
Alright Thanks
I sorta realised it was due to my connection as my school has a really bad reception and thats where teh majority ofteh drain occurred will download that app
My personal experience!!!!! Flame me not!!!!!!
Ok here goes:
I don't use any battery calibration apps or system tuner or task killer any more. I test my battery like I test my gas mileage: ALL THE FRIGGIN' TIME!
I've found I get better battery life without these extra apps. However, I also completely strip all ROM's I use of completely unnecessary apps and their respective widgets (HTC News, HTC News and Weather, Jetset Printer, Stocks, Twitter, Picasa, Google +, etc.)
Now, the only app I would recommend and have heard from multiple sources and threads is Better Battery Stats. It has a nominal fee, however, is worth it. I will show you what is draining your battery.
You could also have wake lock problems. Who knows? Get some diagnostic info to post to better help those trying to help you. Help me, to help you! LOL!

Flame on! Just kidding. I also have never calibrated my battery as it is useless according to the Android engineers at Google.
The reason I also recommend Bad Ass Battery Monitor is because it is a little more user friendly.
Also, there is an xda version of Better Battery Stats that is available in these forums for free, although the Market version is cheap and supports the dev.

i have some problem, when my screen active, i put it to my pocket, then my body touch the screen and do random process abaout 45minutes.. done with 40% battery gone x_X.. i think u must tell us how long u use app
You can use battery calibration. you can find it in the android market
Have you tried reset battery stats then full charge, use it for a couple of minutes then full charge again? Don't know why it works but I have used this method on a couple of Roms and it seems to help
try clearing your battery stats full charge ur battery n then let it discharge fully then full charge once more n recalibrate it..should work
The main factor for preventing battery drains is to have a good modem that doesn't overheats the phone, using a ROM with deep sleep and a battery friendly kennel like Siyah or Fluxxi. Try to get those three things fixed and you should not have any more battery drains
Turn auto brightness off also make sure none of your apps are using your GPS all the time. I think the problem may be app related I would roll to a stock kernel and only use apps that are must need and see if that helps. Also your battery could be shot . How old is it ?

I noticed my S3 drains about 10% battery overnight. I dont think this is normal. Wifi and 3g are off, it just lies there by my bed doing nothing. Ive restarted it and no help.
Cell standby shows 41% usage. Is that right?
The 2 red circles in the screenshot show when my phone is idle just lying there.
Any help?
We need more information. What apps run? have you remove/freeze bloatware. Are you rooted? what rom are you on?
I'm going to run this based on speculation perhaps side effects of rooting your phone? I know there is no conclusive evidence of this but a hypothesis as such. My apologies if you aren't rooted.

why would rooting your phone create battery drain?
OP the standard answer is to install better battery stats and check it again to see what those wakelocks are. Once you find out why your phone is waking up you can do something about it.

I'm also getting a 10% battery drain over night. I've been putting the phone in airplane mode to see if that helps at all but it really doesn't. Anyway we can inprove this? 10% seems like a lot for sleeping...

thanks for the replies everyone, Im using the latest stock firmware... no rooting here...
Installing better battery stats as we speak and see what they say...
GSam Battery Monitor and / or BetterBatteryStats would be the first place as mentioned already.
I was able to find what was causing me most issues. It was some Calender storage and Google syncs (bookmarks, contacts etc) even though I didn't have them activated.
Anyway, after freezing them I now only lose 2-3% overnight. That is with gmail push, email sync every 4 hours and about 7 or 8 other Widgets updating every few hours. Mostly noticed a massive improvement when I flashed the latest siyah kernal.

I don't know but I get the feeling that rooting various phones might have hidden side effects as such, rooting your phone is still evolving as of today. There are still alot that the general doesn't know hence there are always new things about rooting although I might not be knowledgeable in that department. However is it possible to unroot your phone? rather revert it to stock? try doing that and see if there are any differences.
So after the jelly bean update, my battery life dropped abysmally. I attributed it at first to Google now's constant use of GPS, but even after turning off GPS radios it didnt improve much. So I got myself the SEIDIO Innocell Plus extended battery case to see if it would help (a lot of reviews said it did) but it didnt help me to the extent that the reviews claimed. Some youtube reviewer dude claimed the battery charged his phone like 80%! My battery is only charging my phone about 30%. I have slowly began to turn things off: First changed launchers to GO EX, then turned off all radios except mobile network, then turned offf live wallpapers, then go my self another app called cleaner something or other, and Im hoping that will help.
Now questions:
I have TSF shell, Sense, GO EX, and Launcher Pro installed, along with a home switcher. Is having this many launchers installed taking a toll on my battery?
What else might help me improve my battery life? Will rooting and changing ROMS help?
Does one launcher offer more battery life vs the other? recommendations?
Does anybody has any experience with the case I bought? The manual claims, for "best results" turn on the battery when the phone battery is at 50%. Any reason why this actually matters?
Any other advise you have would be greatly appreciated. Its ridiculous that I am still struggling with battery life even after getting an extended battery case.

Could be just a bad battery. Did you break in the case properly, what's your charging habits (do you let it die before connecting?) How do you use your phone?
There's lots or variables that goes into this.

I have a similar problem. I used to get 24 hours per charge, now I barely get 9. I'm not sure who the culprit is but I suspect either Google now, widget locker or nova.

Im not sure breaking in the case properly means, but what I did is charge it fully, then let it die, repeat. My phone, when I used to get battery life, i would let it get to about 25 % and then recharge. Nowadays it always dies and then I recharge.
I started using one power guard and I believe it really works. Also I found that turning off Gps while not using apps that need it increases battery life by a lot.

Any options for non-rooted phones? My phone lasted about 7 hours today....about 44% of the battery was being used by facebook(wtf? I have it set to sync every hour) and google maps(about 25%). I also felt the phone get really hot.

Quick question from me also: when I go to Power in settings and click Usage, Camera takes up 23% of power usage it says...I used it once to take a single picture (about 10s) and closed it right afterwards (and I don't have geotagging enabled). Is Camera really sucking a quarter of my battery, or is something else acting under the name Camera? (stock 3.15, no root)

Why do you use so many launchers? The launcher that uses less memory with save you more battery
Rooting and changing ROMs should really increase battery because people tweak and debloat them like crazy. Based on all the launchers you have I recommend you find a senseless rom if you root
No idea about the case.

After doing a complete wipe install of mean bean, my battery is still draining about 2%/minute. Now, I realize there is more than likely some other issue, that installing mean bean uncovered or removed the block before.
Questions;
1) is it normal for the screen to be using 60% of the battery power?
2) Is there actually an app that controls the battery usage, and truly kills apps?
- I have tested several, with no noticeable difference in power usage.
Thanks for any advice, for a somewhat novice rooter.
yup
The 60 normal if screens been on a lot. The 2% deal sounds whacked. Have u gone into settings/apps/running to see whats running?
Fixed, I think

I'm not sure what I changed, I limited the processes to only 4 running, that might have helped. The battery still drains faster than before when the screen is on, but not as it was before. I am giving "Easy Battery Saver" a try see if that tells me anything useful, it at least keeps the settings that are applied. With any luck it will keep working until I break it again, lol.

I was having bad drain issues and read some post about location tracking with Google maps. I disabled that and my battery life on MB 3.09 is back to normal which is great.
Funny thing is this happened seemly out of no where but I think there was a recent update to maps. My location tracking has always been on and never seemed to affect battery life before. Go figure.
