The stock Google voice search doesn't work for me either, but voice recognition does work on smart keyboard pro. And my voice recorder works, but it is a bit fuzzy/distorted.

Yes the mic is still a problem with android. Did you not read the changelog notes for alpha 3.5 on rootzwiki? This update doesn't address the mic issue.

Try the "Digital Call Recorder Demo" the app is in Google play. It works perfect for the Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300), It is the 30 day demo version, though, but it works. Two-way recording with good volume on both sides. You should give it a try.
