Drew Garen Did it Again - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

He stole someone else's work. This time it is with the Galaxy S III.

That is actually cyanogen commenting to him. Basically if I understand what happened, drew built cm10 from their git and cyanogen took some offense to trying to take credit

Interesting that he did spend a lot of time, responding questions etc.at least ore than he did at the Flyer Forum. Ironically enough we all know how this story will end. We have learned our lesson already, we just can hope that the members at the Galaxy topic will do so as well and don't donate anything to this guy.

have a look at his homepage:
"Welcome back. So after all of you hate me I am still here and still baking some new roms for you. Most recently over at the AT&T Galaxy S III XDA Forum I have created a new thread for CM10 JellyBean Testing. Go over and check it out to get the latest builds.
If you just want plain old JellyBean for your Galaxy S III AT&T or TMobile variant you can grab it here later tonight or tomorrow. Depending on when I get my current build done compiling I’ll start on AOSP.
Now lets talk FlyerJB (JellyBean Project) I will be compiling straight from AOSP for JellyBean for you guys and I hope you guys enjoy it when it’s done. If you didn’t get FlyerICS it’s probably because you didn’t download it. After Chaos released his builds I stopped mine.
Xoom, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, Nexus 7 and Of course Nexus One will all be getting updated JellyBean both AOSP and roms soon as well!"

At least he didn't say it was coming "soon." He's learning.

That thread is dead now that cyanogen put out his own builds.

There is this though..he does have some nerve trying these stunts again for different devices!

In that case i assume u know how to download a ROM, then upload it again saying that it yours?

No sense in anyone getting banned from xda. The point was made and those who choose to disregard it do so at their own risk. They have a cyonagen mod 10 rom produce by cyonagen, I doubt many will be using drew garens builds. At this point I say let it go

Yeah that's about right. I just downloaded the sdk on Sunday, and haven't used it much since. I don't plan on putting anything else in that thread I'm done now

Yep. And got nothing in return. About all he did was take an early build of Chaoses rom and re uploaded it as his own, and then promised downloads forever that never came. And a Google search of Drew Garen reveals that this isn't the first time

Some of us Flyer/View owners also have a Galaxy S III. Don't think Drew's latest antics will fool us -- at least those of us that have perused this forum recently.

Yeah I understand that. I'm not mad at the moderators, McCord was right anyway, probably took a risk commenting on that thread. Xda is useful, I don't need to be getting banned from it. Overall the moderators were just doing their job, he's legit until they prove his rom isn't and they can't let people come in and flame him
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app

it is being handled over there in a constrained manor. Whenever Drew says something like I am going to make it smoother Cyanogen responds by asking how. Drew then responds with dribble. they are taking the high road but in my opinion putting it out there that he does not really know what he is doing.
to be honest though I have to give Drew some credit. He can build from git which is more technical know how then I would of given him credit for

I've noticed that a bunch of threads about ICS have been popping up lately, most with emails that give little-no information or just people that are asking questions. Since there's been so many of these threads, I decided to make this to help reduce clutter.
Post any news/info/rumors/etc. of our official ICS in this thread.
FACTS/Confirmed
-ICS Confirmed for June release [Source - Engadget/Sprint] (Thanks, t4d73)
-ICS has been leaked
-We will receive Sense 3.6 rather than 4.0
Info on the ICS Leak
An ICS ROM from the Virgin Mobile Evo 3D has been leaked!
Now working on both CDMA and GSM
Installation (once its fixed):
1. Wipe system and data (system recommended, data wipe needed)
2. Flash Firmware: Download Firmware
Note on flashing firmware: It can seriously **** you up. Try flashing without firmware first and see if you have problems. Only flash firmware if it is completely necesarry.
3. Flash ROM
4. Boot
GSM:

CDMA:

If it doesn't come out by June/July, it never is. That's my opinion.

They don't actually HAVE to. They can leave you guys cut and dry for all it matters. If that's the case, I'd be done with HTC.
We can't be certain about exactly when ICS will come out for our device, but one thing we can be certain of is that a high percentage of the losers/whiney annoying trolls congregate in the EVO 3D section of XDA.
The one thing that is for certain is the same people that keep making these ridiculous threads are going to be the same people that make threads complaining about ICS when it comes out!
Yes HTC has confirmed we will get it. Why do we need so many threads saying the same thing

There was another one of these and it didnt work. What makes you think this one will stop the trolls from posting a new thread every time they get the same general response to one of their emails to HTC.

This is the first helpful ICS thread I've found.
Other people keep asking the same questions.
"When will it be released"
Will we get sense 3.6/4.0"
"How long will they take to unlock it"
Pointless threads that just give no actual fact. Lets hope this stops people from posting even more.

Glad someone did this. As I mentioned before in one of the others, I was very close to doing one...just keep reporting the other ones that pop up and pstevep or one of the other mods will take em out. Good to have a central location for the info on it and rumors whenever they pop up. Just keep the OP updated...

Still Waiting on ICS...Are You?

Has anyone in the Triangle area of North Carolina received the ICS update yet for their Razr or Razr Maxx? I am still waiting. System Update keeps telling me no updates at this time.
I wish there was a way to trigger it. Not interested in necessarily loading it on my own.

First at all, I were holding the first Android device, and I think android is more better and useful oc than ios.
So, yes... Still waiting... Since 2011, and I really desperate waiting to this update... I'm like, visiting xda every day just to know if it's out yet.
If it would take more couple of days, I would hate android and ios forever, and I would like to revenge Motorola...

Keep in mind that they aren't contractually obligated to provide an upgrade for any phone. They're doing it out of the kindness of their hearts (mainly to keep phones selling). What you paid for was a Gingerbread device, what you hoped for was an upgrade. You will get it, fortunately enough, but they never did specify when other than extremely vaguely

Let's force HTC to release ics sources

Time is passing and there isn't still no reply from HTC, even if a lot of us ask about. This delay of realization of such an important thing unables us to get unstock kernel with oc and optimizations. Without sources devs have to work hard and there is no sucess to get stable and with fully working camera cm9, aokp, aosp and other ROMs.
My idea is to force HTC to hurry up this process. We can create a petition and spam HTC 's FB, Twitter, mail and in other ways.
We need volunteer, who can create the petition (everyone will sign it) and ideas of content of messenge, that all of us will send to HTC.
We can't let them to fool us!
Peace.

I'll make a petition, but my kernel and android rom building is very basic, so I wanted someone good at it to write this thing. Also my English isn't perfect...
Pissing of users and people who have bought this device for a lot of money is unacceptable...
New one series users didn't had to wait for such a long time... Please understand it.
Wysłane z mojego HTC EVO 3D X515m
Better yet. why don't you buy a gun and make it happen? hahahha. the only way to force something is with death and violence. Do some research in your history. Making a fake petition won't get you anywhere. They'll just laugh at you. HTC has got too big. They no longer care about their customers. I'd care less if the source got released.

I want to start a band. I need 5 volunteers. I need a singer, a bass player, a drummer, a rhythm guitarist and a lead guitarist. I need money for equipment and money to pay a manager. We can force people to listen to whatever sounds they make.
Seriously, I think don't you can "Force" HTC to release anything. They will release the kernel source when they are ready to. They have a business to run and we can't interfere in any of their of affairs. A petition would be meaningless.

Not only will that make this look evenmoreso of a worse community, HTC will see devs as a joke, and do what they can to hold off on releasing until they absolutely HAVE to. We've had wayyyy too many thread complaining about AOSP lately.
Why is it hard to search the forums before making a thread? Are we ever going to get a consolidated thread about a specific topic?
Copy-cating aside, it really would be useful to have one thread for this so people that really want AOSP can discuss it to death there. Seriously a quick search yielded these results:
AOSP on EVO LTE?
Is there an AOSP rom out yet?
Why no AOSP/AOKP ?
We're a friendly bunch of people and will help anyone with any question/issue. Just search before making a post or we'll lose our sanity
Also, our devs are making awesome progress with AOSP. You can get a CM9 build here and even a bootable build of CM10 if you join the IRC channel. I want this as much as everyone else but we are not entitled to it, the devs don't owe us anything. Join an existing thread to discuss this but don't be so demanding about it. :good:
Firstly, we've only had source code for what, 2 weeks? maybe 3? What in the hell you do want? Secondly deck has release a few versions of his CM10 port including a newer build just an hour or so again on IRC. I'm running it right now, and so far his progress is a hell of alot better than alot of other even official alphas right now.
I have always ran sense roms on my phones, but am interested in pure android experience. With the release of source, can we expect working LTE and camera?

We aren't angry by nature, we just dislike repeat threads every single day. Do you not realize your question has been asked dozens of times with the same answer every time?
Patience. Learn the word. The phone hasn't been available long. People are still slowly flowing in. We need someone from CM to support our device. Decks CM10 is already pretty damn stable.
What you need to do is calm down and read the forums before posting a thread, because if you're going to make the same thread we've all see ten times in the past week, and then complain when we get angry, then you aren't going to be very well liked around here.

Can we create an official "***** and Moan" forum and/or thread and "quarantine" certain XDA users to it?

Q: What is a kernel?
A: The kernel works with the hardware and the OS/applications to manage system resources. It helps manage memory, processes, and system devices. It deals more closely with the hardware than the OS/applications and acts a bridge between the two.
Q: Great, so..... kernel source?
A: Before HTC released it's kernel source, developers did not have the "inside info" on the kernel, which makes developing with the kernel much more difficult. The kernel source is a "decrypted" version that allows developers to modify it and improve it.
Q: So the Devs are happy, what about me?
A: The developers now have the tools to build fully-working AOSP. AOSP is Android in it's purest form, as if straight from Google. AOSP ROMs have significantly more better battery life, and more features for the user. Remember; happy developers leads to a happy you!
The most prominent bugs in AOSP are the network lag caused by a network monitoring tool when using data, the screen flickering issue, and the total loss of Bluetooth. Hopefully these bugs will be fixed soon so we can enjoy AOSP goodness!
So, keep and eye out on the Developer section to see what exciting things our developers can do in the coming months!

Now that we have kernel, if we could be some devs, the dev section would explode.

Now that the kernel source for the Rezound has been released, developers can fix bugs found in AOSP and Cyanogen Mod 9. So far the outlying issues are Bluetooth and the mysterious lagging issue which seems to be caused my network monitoring.

This about sums up your mood
This is pretty amusing, especially because I have been sending threatening emails to HTC about violations of the GPL and my intending to file a formal complaint (and I'm certainly not alone, and there have been online petitions so I'm not even remotely suggesting that I had anything to do with it), and I keep getting responses like "we typically release source code 90 to 120 days after an OTA" over and over again to which I repeatedly respond "that's not good enough; 90 to 120 days is still a violation of the GPL".
Ultimately, this turns out to be less than 30 days after ICS dropped. That *is* good news. Maybe HTC is starting to see that Samsung is eating their lunch.
