I've noticed that the notification LED (orange while charging) is on if the screen is off, but then turns off as soon as the screen is turned on, although the phone obviously continues to charge, as it shows in the top or with any battery widget.
Any other Android phone I've have before, incl. other Samsung phones, have charging indicators that stay on continuously while charging regardless of phone or screen state. I think that makes a lot more sense, that the charging LED would stay on while the phone is charging.
Is there a way (maybe with root) to enable the charging light to stay on all the time even with the screen on while the phone is charging? Would this require a custom kernel, since that is out of the question with the locked bootloader (not using a kexec or the recovery partition obviously) right now. Is the light going off when the screen comes on something specific to the VZW model, or are all versions like that, if anyone seems to have a different version of this phone?
Thanks
I know that the app Light Flow LED control will be updating their app to support the GS3 soon and you will be able to use the LED as you described plus much more.

I believe the idea is so you dont have a light in your eyes when looking at your phone while it's charging. I know I hate that.

I was actually looking for some way to get the notification light to pulse, ie dim from high to low, instead of just flashing on and off. Not sure if it is, but does anyone know if this would even be possible?

Is there any way to stop the screen from turning on when phone charged? I often leave phone charging overnight and worry the screen might burn out because of this.
Thanks

Don't have this problem either, my phone's locked again after the notification for full charge...
What kind of rom do you have? (it's written "galaxy S in your sign)
Are you using an app for lockscreen?
Just the standard Sammy one. And it never turns off automatically.
So maybe you could install a lockscreen app from the market and see if it solve your problem.
I have bought a thick battery. When I use the htc roms,it will take 5-6 hours, and then the led turns to green. The battery is full.
But when I use CyanogenMod roms,it takes only 2hours and the led turns to green. And I reboot the phone, the battery displays only 60%.charing can not be full.I tried all kinds of roms of CyanogenMod,including cm9 and cm10,it would always be that.I tried some methods in the form, charing until the led was green, and took it out, turned off the phone, charged again.when the led turned to green, took it out and turned on.then turned it off immediately.charged again untill the led was green again.at last, wipe the battery status. But it had no use.
I guess maybe the charging app is different between CyanogenMod and htc.And CyanogenMod's do not depend on my thick battery?
I love CyanogenMod and I did not like the htc sense.so,please help me.anyone can tell me what to do?I really want to use CyanogenMod with my thick battery.Thank you!

Try calibrating the battery
Ignore the green light, it does that to me when I get to 90%, and yet it'll still charge past there. It's annoying, but not really anything to worry about

The green light is just an indicator. Ignore it, the rest of the phone and the battery have their own settings to prevent the battery from overcharging. It's always gonna go through its normal charging cycle, one of the codes in cyanogenmod causes the light to change to green at the wrong time, but it has NO effect on the charging. It's annoying and unnerving I know, buts its nothing to worry about

OK,thanks.
I've noticed recently that when I attempt to charge this phone while off it starts having issues.
1) notification light not active like on my gnote 2
2) Is super hot to the touch after just a little while, doesn't seem to charge much either
3) charging indicator on screen shows charging while plug is removed
4) screen seems to show at a low brightness even when phone is suppose to be off while plugged charging
What gives? Anyone having similar issues?
Its on the att stock rom. Its boot loader unlocked and rooted. Was using The Base custom rom

These are all issues once you unlock the bootloader. It's recommended to never charge the phone while off.
I know I could research it but how would I easily reliving the boot loader?

Try a different charger/cable
Are you using the original cable? Most HTC phones will do that if the battery is completely dead, you have to let it charge with a charger that is the same or higher amperage than the one it came with. Once the light stops blinking, you should be good to turn it on.
When you say ended up dying, are you meaning it died once, or it died, you turned it back on to try and read a text or get a number till it died again, etc.
I'm asking for a valid reason not just picking on you. But Yeap make sure you're using the OEM stock HTC charger or another charger.
If that doesn't work try the computer. Whatever you do don't keep trying to turn it on until it actually starts charging.

Hi, newbie here. Please pardon me if my english is a bit broken.
Well, when I receive a notification (for example, message from Facebook/Messenger), the notification led only blinks when my phone is charging.
I've read that the white led was not supposed to act that way, in fact, officially it's supposed to light-on (not blinking) as an indicator of charging or near-death battery.
I've tried some apps here and there but most of them only give a continuous light when charging, whatsoever it's intended for. Also found an app called Light Flow that was a bit closer to my needs, but didn't work at all. I don't know why but I think that's because the app is supposed to work on another type of phone, with RGB leds. I tried it for about two hours testing and did change nothing .
My last phone before the Moto E was a Motorola Razr D1, very similar to the Moto E, and that phone also had a white led. But in that phone the led only blinked for notifications, regardless of being charged or not, and also did not bring a continuous light when in charge. I want to replicate this feature if possible.
Is there a way to make my led blink for notifications regardless of being charged?
And, if the last is possible, does involve the continuous light? I hope not, I really hate that thing and find it pointless. Just want the notifications.
Thanks in advice!
Which ROM are you on?
In stock (or by default) notification LED in moto e blinks when there's a notification regardless of the state of charging.
There's no "Light On" criteria either (unless you're using custom rom/mod/app).
I completely forgot, sorry.
I'm using Cyanogenmod 12, never used the stock rom. My dad gave it to me and I inmediately flashed.
