SD Card issue - HTC Rezound

Every time I load a new rom I lose my SD Card, I have the GB SD Card fix but it doesn't work. And I have to go back to my backup to get everything back the way it was,
My question is, I have the GB SD Card fix and the old firmware patch, do i need to load these in a certain order to get them to work on a new rom or should it not matter?
Thanks guys!

Firmware?
Rom(current and new) ?
Don't know what gb sd card fix is-link?
Security status?
Anything else that may be relevant?

Whenever i flash an ics rom on my rezound i start with the rom, then the gb firmware patch, then the sdcard fix. Works for me everytime no problem. And i think depending on which roms/changes you are jumping between you may need to factory reset on top of the usual cache/dalvik wipe. It also helps to be s-off. IF s-on you have to flash the kernel after flashing the rom as the final process, thus forcing you to reboot before being able to flash the gb and sd fix. So im sure its safe after in infinite boot mode(because u havent yet flashed the fixes) to pull the battery then the sdcard(because when u boot now it will try to read the sd card to flash the kernel again) we dont want this to happen so replace the battery(without the sdcard) hold vol down and pwr to get to the bootloader connect to a pc or charger and now, while in the bootloader, pull the battery, if ur plugged in charging the display should prevail, replace the sdcard then the battery. Once this is done you can boot amen ra or whatever its called. From there patch the gb fix, then the sdcard fix, then wipe cache, then wipe dalvik and you should be set. Which rom are you flashing? Are you s-on or off?

On second thought you might even have a bad download on the sd fix, try downloading it again.

I think if you are routinely flashing a 'gb fix' AND a 'sdcard fix' then something is amiss. They might be the same thing.
If you are running an ICS rom on GB firmware, then you need a 'patch'. The reason for this patch is because ICS uses different mount points on the SD card. The patch corrects for this. I have seen it called old firmware patch, SD card patch, and GB firmware patch. They do the same thing. So you may want to check what you're doing. It might save you a step in future flashing!:good:
EDIT: This is an old post and the OP never responded so he probably discovered the same thing.

My phone works great after the patches but i definitely need to fix this at the source by flashing the ics RUU to avoid this whole problem altogether ive just been lazy lol. Thanks.

Can someone confirm this Radio/ROM flashing process for me?

Ok, so I have heard that the MR2 or 2.5 radios work better with CM7 GPS. Is this the correct way to install both on my phone?
1.Download the CM7 ROM (RC1.1) and put it on the SD CARD
2.Download the MR2 or 2.5 and put it on the Sd Card (and rename the file to PG05IMG.zip)
3.Boot into recovery
4.Do a Nandroid Backup.
5.Perform a factory reset
6.Flash CM7, DO NOT REBOOT
7.Using ADB, reboot to bootloader
8.adb shell
9.reboot bootloader
10. Boot into hboot and flash the radio
Also, the dl links for the MR2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115714) or MR2.5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127436) are not working for me, I keep getting 404'd. Can anyone else link me?
And is there any way to flash the radio and ROM without having to remove all of my data?
Thanks for your help!
You can boot after installing cm7, you just won't have service until you install the radio. Other than that, you have it right.

So I do have to reformat my device for this to work, and there is no way around that?

I always wipe fully. Never had a problem unless it was a bad download, so be sure to check the MD5 on the files. Also from CWR, goto advanced mounts and storage, and wipe data, system and cache from there as well before you flash.
If it FUBARs, you have your nandroid to go back to.
Courtesy of my rooted Bolt
Is it possible for someone to either pm me a link to the MR2 or 2.5 radios? On the links I posted I keep getting 404'd
Nevermind, got it.
Figured it was worth mentioning that the steps aren't in the right order if you planned to manually boot to recovery since you will already have the radio on there and it will just keep trying to update. If not manually booting it's fine.
Instead of using adb to reboot, I just reboot from the recovery and then pull the battery. Then put the battery back in, hold down the volume(-) button and power button, and it will reboot to the bootloader. Then flash the radio. Either way works. The batter pull method is just easier to do, imo.

Accidentally Updated After Rooting

Hi,
I accidentally updated to Gingerbread on my Thunderbolt, and I forgot I rooted my phone, by the time I remembered it already had a blue android and an explaimation mark. So I did some random crap, and probley made it worse.
First I did the vol down power thing went to factory reset it loaded CWM v4.0.1.4
I wiped cache patition
Dalvick cache
and Battery stats
then I wiped data/factory reset
It loaded like it was brand new everything seemed fine till I updated and did same thing so I wiped the data again and now it keeps auto updating so I have to keep my internet off
and it's annoying as crap
I'm a noob so I don't understand stuff
should I go ahead with this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009423
I couldn't understand it and if your not rooted why would you unroot I don't get that part...
Do I still have root?
What does flash exactly mean?
Current Specs (I don't know what to give but I'll guess)
Thunderbolt
Top says
Mecha XD S-OFF
HBOOT 6.04.1002
eMMC-boot
Android Version 2.2.1
(tell me if you need any other info)
Should I upgrade to gingerbread any way
Download a customer rom, put it on your sd card and flash it in CWM. I'm running BAMF forever and like it. There are plenty of roms to choose from. This should stop the update. After running the rom if you decide you like stock better you can flash the stock rom back and take the update. You will loose root.
Pull the update off the SD. It will stop flashing it

I had a friend who's phone auto updated and is stuck on the htc boot screen. Will deleting the update off the sd card work also? Her phone is not rooted, just hoping to save her from having to replace it.
And how do you forget you rooted your phone?

i have a similar problem
my wifes phone is rooted though. it had a stock rom and she autoupdated
now i can only go to recovery mode.

1) The phone will not boot all the way up?
2) is the recovery stock or CWM?
3) do you have a recent back up made?
4) do you have s-off?

1. it boots up all the way, turns off after 10-20s each time, regardless of what action i'm taking
2. cwm recovery
3. no backups recent or not
4. i don't know if i 'have it' but when i load hboot the status is 's-off'
Does it crash or shut off? Maybe a hardware problem?
It powers down the normal way.

If you clear the cache, the shutdowns will stop.
But the OTA will download again, and in a few days you will have to repeat the process.
A custom ROM fixed me, but now the same thing poped up.
May go back to stock .... trying xdabolt, but in the process lost my data.

What am I looking for on the SD card to remove?
sounds like you still have s-off. Anything you are trying to save like app data is gone if you do not have a back up. I would down load a customer rom or even one of the rooted stock versions with the latest OTA and flash that with CWM recovery. Be sure to clear cache and dalvick wipe first when you flash it. There are RUU you could use to return it to stock, but you will lose root. I'm running BAMF forever 1.0.9 and like it. Play around with some roms and if you don't like them use a RUU to restore you back to stock. Most important is make sure you read up on things first.
Hey I endded up just unrooting using this video
(can't show video url)
(Search how to unroot on youtube you should see it by nat3mil and I think that's only if you have revolutionary)
and I guess the video would work too.
If you restored to factory settings using power and vol down buttons and wiped the data in the revolutionary thing, and then followed the video...
phones working now and the video's idiot-proof
just posting this if anyone else needded to unroot

unrooting is good and all, but if that happens again, just look around for the newest ruu and find a rooted version. most ruu get rooted that day... heck i had 2.11.605.5 rooted b4 verizon released it (the 2nd leak, the one WITH working vm notifications) thanks to eris of course. then you'd be up to date, stock, rooted... all you'd have to do is wipe dalvik, cache, and system... keep the data (if coming from sense 2.1 rom) and you'd be good.
i don't mess with sense 2.1/3.0 hybrid or 3.0 roms anymore, for this very reason. a ton of incompatibilities between the roms and framework, causing you to have to wipe data when switching... what a pita! i haven't wiped data in months. keep the data always to make life easier...
if you have problems, use clockwork's "fix permissions" and reboot. problem not solved? then retry rom installation WIPING EVERYTHING, then at least you tried to keep your stuff. titanium backup is great for backing up apps + data, so you can import the data back when you're stable on the new rom... just restore the apps + data for the necessary apps, and app only for the stuff that doesn't mnatter... never restore system apps + data for roms with severely different basebands or from completely different roms. unrooting won't be necessary next time
I had my phone half rooted, OTA came and I selected to defer, well I forgot and now I have the security warning.I tried flashing through the bootloader on my SD card the stock file and I still have the security warning. I use my phone as my internet source so it's been a big PITA. The phone starts, goes to 1x, then 4G, then restarts over and over.
Won't load into recovery, won't factory reset, using HBOOT USB and the command prompt the device isn't recognized.

If the phones rooted you can prolly get into recovery VIA hboot.
If its not rooted you can prolly find a ota ruu and flash it in hboot. U can do that if its rooted too but ull lose root. Or if its a locked s off there's methods to roll back to factory and turn s on. And yes delete the orig update off the card

Anyone, or flash to Gingerbread? I really need my 4G my OG DROID battery is f**ked, I NEED THIS PHONE WORKING!

Need help BAD !!

Hope this is the appropriate forum but I am in desperate need of help. Please move if there is a better place for this to be posted.
I rooted my sons Thunderbolt using ADB method a while back and was using a GingerROM of some sort and wanted to turn him on to Cyanogen as I use it on my Inc. and his ROM was acting funny at times as of late.
Anyways, I DL Cyanogen and a new radio found in these threads. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249328
I Nadroid'd back up, wiped data, installed ROM from boot, said was successful...White boot screen for 10 minutes. Decided to pull battery and tried to boot again and several times after but cant get past white HTC boot screen.
I can however boot in H-boot. I am unable to navigate through the options as it goes straight to wanting to update from a .zip file. I left the old files that I flashed originally ROM and radio perhaps, and I'm not sure what ones it's wanting me to update to or from, new or old. I have not started the update as I am not sure of the files.
There are 2 files: 1) MDM9K and 2)RADIO_V2
I cancel the update and I have to press power to reboot which starts the process I started with all over again. I wanted to connect to PC so see the contents of the SD card and possibly start the flashing process over, but it will not recognize the device so I can read the SD contents.
What do I do?
Boot up in clockwork recovery....wipe data....and after also wipe cache ...and then install zip from SD card...and install your desired rom....I do not know if that rom requires a different radio so that it can function properly...but give the rom another shot..and wait for it to boot...it may take a while..just let it go thru...make some coffee or something to wait

Said you had an Inc? Throw the Thunderbolts sdcard in your Inc, use a file manager to rename the file and you should be set to get into recovery.
And by the way, you'll want to rename PG05IMG as that's the file that is trying to be flashed in hboot.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Thanks for the quick replies. I can't boot into clockwork, that's the problem. I will try putting the SD card in my phone and see if I can get a new ROM to flash after I delete old stuff from it.
Also you just have to put your sons sdcard in your phone to rename the radio file. Once it's renamed, put it back in the Thunderbolt and boot into recovery and restore the nand. Then you'll be able to download a new rom and connect to a PC and what not.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Once you rename or remove the file, if it still gets stuck at the htc screen for longer than 10 minutes, you can hold down both volume buttons and the power button at the same time. I had that problem with the ROM I am on now and it cleared it up
im having a very similar problem except i dont have an extra phone to be abe to rename those files! i was originally on TWRP as a recovery but when i tried to install thunder sense or something like that and i tried wiping system partition, it wiped everything possible and when i tried flashing the ROM, it said that the zip could not be opened. i tried adb to flash a new boot img and to get cwm back but now im stuck. any help? is there a way to flash a system img and boot img from somewhere and still keep root?

nope not able to because of the PG05IMG file on the card. i can take the card out but then theres no point in going into recovery if i cant do anything in it. and cant access the card through adb to pull it off because it appears offline when stuck in the boot loop and it doesnt appear at all when in hboot update mode.
Ok, took some troubleshooting but I think I got it.
Follow these steps:
1. Power off your phone & remove SD card and don't have your phone on the charger.
2. Hold Power and vol. down to get into hboot.
3. Now plug your phone into the charger to the wall (won't work w/ usb charging)
4. Pull battery. Should stay on in hboot
5. Insert sd card, replace battery and select Recovery from hboot
You should boot into recovery and should be able to connect to your pc to remove the radio file and throw a rom and flash. I tested this method and can confirm it worked. (though I suppose this only will work if you still have a recovery installed)

I've run into that problem before, because of forgetting to rename the Radio. If you have an SD card reader lying around, you and pop your Micro SD into that and delete or rename the radio from there.
Ran into this problem last night. I barely removed my SD card, put the battery back in and start tilting it away from the phone. Leave yourself enough room between the battery and phone to slide something like a letter opener up to where the SD card is. Push slightly and your SD card will be ready forreading again. Put the battery down in its normal spot while the phone is still on, boot into Recovery and you are set.

I can get into recovery and download mode, flash stock Rom with Odin and Heimdall to completion but phone never boots up completely. Nothing but boot loops.Goes between Vibrant screen and Galaxy S screen.I'm at my wits ends. I hope some one can suggest something.
What did you come from? CM7 / CM9 ICS?
Did you repartition with Odin?
More info please.

I have flashed with Odin to stock 2.1 coming from an ICS rom a few times and never had a problem, so i don't think that's the issue. Maybe try flashing a stock kernel in recovery mode or you can use Odin for that too I believe. I'm still learning this stuff myself but it sounds like it's a kernel or bootloader issue to me. Just to be sure, are you absolutely certain you flashed a Tmobile vibrant package and not something meant for another company/phone? Sorry had to ask

Also coming from ICS to stock you MUST repartition the phone.
Managed to install a T959UVKA7 rom but now I can't mount sd card. It's greyed out and states to insert an SD card for mounting. I can erase sd card but it states sd card has been removed. And when I go Additional storage/mmt/emmc and mount sd card I get damaged sd card.I have 0.00B internal storage and mnt/emmc space is 1.86gb which is my external sd card. Almost looks like internal and external storage are reversed. What's up
I always recommend Odining to stock from CM7 as CM9's DM is, at least for me... non-existent. As for your SD card issue, you may want to Odin to stock again.
I agree. You should try to get to JFD and hit repartition. If you need it, the AIO Toolbox is in my signature to download. It has all JFD pit/tar files, Odin and will get you cleanly back to 2.1. Read toolbox's OP in the dev section for directions.
Did everything you suggested but I just end up in a boot loop. I have tried going back to stock many many times but never get out of the boot loop. That's why I installed CM7 from the external Sd card as it was the only way to get anything on the phone.

Easiest way to do it in my opinion is through recovery mode. Download a kernel that is compatible with your ROM, go delete cache partition and dalvik cache from the advanced menu then install from sd card just like you would a ROM. The kernel MUST be compatible with whatever ROM you are running. Check out the kernel bible thread for a list of kernels and what ROMS they work with. I personally never used Odin to flash a kernel but I believe the kernel bible tells you how

[Q] Internal storage will not mount and PH98IMG will not load from SD card

I have searched and I've found no answers for this. I picked up my phone today and it was unresponsive. I pulled the battery to restart it, would get to the white HTC screen then nothing. Went to recovery TWRP 2.3.2.3 and was greeted with a long list of "E: unable to..." everything. Can't mount system, emmc, data etc. Cannot restore, cannot install, cannot wipe. PH98IMG.zip does not load from sd card. I am pretty sure it's not a formatting issue.
Am I the proud owner of a brick? Any help is appreciated.
I had this problem, I could only fix it by formatting the SD card in the stock rom. If everything is not working and you can't flash the ruu or get in your ROM, you can try factory reset in the bootloader and try a SD card wipe in the ROM after reset to fix the partition. I have only tested fixing the SD mounting issues with stock ROM SD card wiping
That's my idea. Hope I helped

I was running Wildstang's CM10.1. Had just updated to the 030513 update about 4 hours before the levy broke. It appeared to operate fine after reboot. Even used the phone to make an audio recording.
Also, for full information, I am on the most recent firmware (HBOOT 2.27 and most recent radios) and full S-Off.

Easier said than done for me, but I will try it out when I get home tonight. Thanks.
It concerns me, though, that the Image CRC in HBOOT comes up as all zeros for Boot, System and Data, and they are not mountable under any circumstances apparently. Any idea why that would happen?
