Hi there,
I just bought my samsung galaxy S3 and installed the Apex launcher. The fact is that I've seen that below the dock there could be some options of widgets I believe. I 'm trying to find in settings how to add them and nothing. I don't even know the name of those apps. Could anybody let me know how to enable them? .
Thank you

The dock will only show 1x1 widgets I believe. Like a mail widget that is an icon that shows unread messages for example. or like the icon widget in handcent that shows how many unread text messages you have. You add it to your homescreen and you should then be able to drag it to the dock.
Thank you for your reply, however, what I actually meant is below the dock. I am attaching you a picture so you can take a look. It's like the dock goes up a little bit and then below you have 3 options. Any ideas?

That's a Galaxy Nexus. It has on-screen buttons. Those are the on-screen buttons.

Yes, they are on screen buttons, not a dock, you cant add widgets there. If you have the GS3 it looks like you're running AOKP maybe and enabled the onscreen navigation. However, with AOKP you can create more buttons on the nav bar to open up certain apps, or perform certain functions. for that you go to settings, rom control and then navigation. Then you will see you can add more custom nav buttons

Like many of you guys, I really appreciate the benefits of a nice big clock widget. And I find the time on the application bar to be very redundant. I would like to see an option for that to be disabled in any of the newer upcoming roms. It will save precious space
Here's what it might look like

Personally I like having the time there. That way when I'm doing something like browsing the web I can still see what time it is. Comes in handy when I'm on my lunch break.

yeah, there will definitely be instances when you'd want the time there. i think an option to display it on and off would be very handy
Soon
This is an option on cm6. I really can't wait for that to hit our phones!

It would be great if the time display in the menu bar could be dynamic. When in an app have it display, when on the home screen, have it hidden.
What power widget is that? Definitely more useful than the android one.
I got the gauge battery and the switch pro widget. Highly recommend it. There are many different configurations.

Thx!
it's fairly straight forward to remove yourself if you like. If you check this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780614 There's a walkthrough. But be aware on the SGS the line item numbers for the clock and alarm are different than what he shows in that thread.

Awesome! Thanks!
I can't seem to find a good screenshot of it (and the only person I know with a tablet's sleeping, so I'll post one tomorrow if I get the chance), but in Honeycomb and the tablet version of ICS, when you scroll on your current home screen to another screen you can see light-blue glowy outlines for the icons on the screen you're scrolling to.
Is it possible to replicate that effect in ICS for a phone? Would that have to be something done at the homescreen level, or something deeper? The Android tablets always had my attention with this effect.
Thankies! =]
Apex launcher, free in market, lets you have that animation. It is like ICS stock launcher with a lot more options. Choose trasition effect as tablet from Apex home screen settings.
I know exactly what you are talking about. I suggest you maybe contact the APEX launcher guys (Android Does) and see if that is even possible. I like it too and think it would be cool on the phone level.
Wow, you guys replied quickly... Thank you both. =D

It sort of does; it has the outline of the homescreen that moves around, which looks kinda' cool. However, it's still missing the part where the icons and widgets get that same outline treatment and then as they move in, slowly become visible.

Will do; I just wish Apex Launcher would let me move my homescreens around when I'm in the preview mode. xD It's the one thing I preferred Nova Launcher for, but Apex has improved lots since when I first used it (when it first came out).
Landscape mode?

Hello,
I have the ATT Galaxy Note and would like to use it as my pager via text messaging, which I did with my prior iPhone. I would like to have the text messages appear on the lock screen (or unlocked screen if that is the only thing possible) until I view them so I don't have to unlock the phone and drill down into the apps when I am paged at 2am and half asleep. Is this possible?
Thank you.
You can use SMS pro and enable quick reply on it.

I use widget locker as my lock screen then add go sms widget to it. Has a nice transparent theme too. Works really well.
I decided to try Go SMS Pro and it does just what I need it to do.
Thank you to all for your great and helpful responses. Very much appreciated.
That is the one I use, works quite well.

The exact app for your need is called Iphone Notifications from the market. When my wife moved from the iphone to the Skyrocket, that's the only app that saved the day. There is a free version but the paid version would display the actual message on the lockscreen. It works with Widgetlocker also.
SMS pop up is included with saurom and it has exactly what you need, whenever you get a text a window pops up and asks if you want to reply or close the window etc

You may want to try our last app LockerPro Lockscreen, it does pretty much what you are looking for.
There is a free lite version.

Hey guys,
Sorry for the bunch of questions in recent days. I'm new a this while being fairly compulsive. Ok so let's make use of the ability to make screen shot. In the picture below, apps on the left are from stock touch wiz, and the second set of icons (more to the right) are from the TW SIII mod from pale horse. As you can see, apps on the right have much more space between them then on the left. Is there anyway for me to make it so apps on the right have the same space between them than apps on the left? It is very obsessive of me I know.
Thank you
Install the Apex launcher. Then you can change the grid of your desktop to any spacing that suits you.
And this is for caring about icon spacing. . .

What did you do to fix this?
Another thing Apex can do is let you resize icons. Maybe that could help?
And you know the CDO picture was strictly a joke - not trying to do anything here but assist.
That was a good one ranger...LOL
And yes....we need a sense of humor around here once in a while....g
Right? You know sometimes you can get someone's undies in a bunch by just saying hi.
Ahah no worries I can take a joke. I embed up doing nothing. Apex had the same problem so I just took a deep breath and accepted things as they are.

Did you browse the Homescreen thread? Maybe you can see a solution there. Anyone there will share their setup with you.

I use SSLauncher, and do whatever I like with the homescreen(s). Spacing, resizable widgets, etc.... SSLauncher=freedom!
from the looks of your photo something was changed other then just icons. your homescreen indicators and wallpaper dont line up. you can try changing your screen density to something larger to fill in the gaps. stock is 320. i use apex like ranger recomended and hide icon labels then change grid size. i use 8x5 and this makes all my icons very close(i also use text for icons rather then pictures). you should play around with it. pro version also lets you resize and overlap widgets so you can get icons close but still have widgets look like they should.
Hello. Yesterday, i was searching for an launcher (NOT a home launcher} which allow me to run apps more quickly from any app I'm running at an moment.
I found this app named SwiftOpen. It's thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-swiftopen-fast-launcher-beta-t2871523 .
It allow you to add apps shortcuts, even some settings like wifi, so you can put wifi on more easy. You swipe from right (you can change the place from where to swipe) and the launcher come.Read the whole description of it's thread. Oh, and don't forget to press thanks button to the developer
Review / My opinion:
In my opinion it does a great job. I don't even have to press home button to go in another app. It use about 15 MB ram. Last night i had 58% battery and i kept this app running in background and today, in the morning, i had same battery percent. So, it seems that it doesn't drain battery.
Now i don't even need to use the home button, as i placed an shortcut of "home" in the bottom left
I downloaded the latest version released. I encountered one bug: when i want to change the place of an shortcut, the app crash, but the shortcut get moved.
Here is an screenshot. You see an white square in the right, it's because i kept my finger there to take an screenshot, otherwise the launcher dissapear. By the way, you can add more shortcuts, even Tasker ones !!!

Also found this app recently, it's the best launcher by a long shot. I have a G4 and I hate the softkeys taking up screen space, as you mentioned this app means you don't need any other buttons or home button.
Thanks for the tip to put this launcher in the place of the home button, I had it on the side but now that you mention it that's naturally the best spot to put it.
Do you use it on Lollipop and use the Alt-tab feature?
That's not working for me on 5.1, think it's a lollipop issue?
