Hi there guys
I have been having a problem with 3 sandisk 64gb micro sd cards. I always got them replaced but it is getting frustrating now. Obviously they are formatted in exfat format.
The problem starts when I copy data of over 30 gb. Once i copy the data n the sd is remounted or the phone is restarted i always get the message "damaged sd card" but when i read the card on pc through an adapter it shows the contents ok. So i want to know if anyone can help me so that I may not need to return the card this time around...

Try to format it first in the phone, then start loading data on it.

I also tried it buddy but none of the methods seem to work .. i also tried formatting it then copying data through sd card reader as well as the phone itself... does it have to do anything with some file system issue or kernel related issue... im on stock kernel rooted...

also had the same problem. i formatted the card to fat32 with 32xxx sectors with "GUIFORMAT" app for windows, the it works ok.
then after fat conversion, you can try to format the card to exfat using any app (not the windows one) search google, then it might work, didnt try myself as fat32 works great, and i can use it with the script that makes the card the phone memory, so now i got 64gb instead of 11.6gb of phone storage

where formatted?
how much fully card with data?
witch rom, kernel?
I have the class 10 64Gb Sandisk sd card too with no problems.
Card has about 55Gb info on it and I didn't format the card. Just put it into the phone. Recognised instantly and haven't looked back.
I have a 2nd SGSIII too with a 64gb class 6 sandisk sd card. Same applies but with a little less data on it.

So I figure some people have purchased SDCards other than what HTC provided with our phones...
My question is: What format (based on card size) should we be using?
I had my SDCard (16GB Patriot Class 10) from my Incredible formatted as Ext4 which was causing me a major headache when I wanted to do a Nand Backup. My AmonRa and Clockwork could NOT mount the sdcard. Took me forever to remember that I had formatted it differently. I put in my old 8GB card that was FAT32 and all of a sudden, I could successfully do a Backup.
The catch is that since I am using a 16GB card, when you format (NO Quick Formatting I know) you have multiple options for Allocation Unit sizes. What size should be used?
Reason being is that I formatted the 16GB to FAT32 and default was 32kilobytes as the Allocation size and still I cannot mount the card in AmonRa.
Please help. Thanks.
I have the identical card I believe and I was using Fat32 Default allocation (which ends up being 4k I believe).
Also why were you using ext4? You do know you can partition your card so that you have both right? I can't think of a reason why you would need a 16gb ext4 partition.
What about a 64gb card? I read that someone put one in and had the phone format it and it works fine. No idea how they formatted it, they didn't mention it, so I didn't know there were options until seeing this thread. Got a 64gb card for xmas and would like to pop it in and load it up! Thanks.

I read elsewhere in the Rezound Accessories forum that if you format a 64g card FAT32 the phone should be able to handle it.

I have the problem same this:
" I bought a TF201 two weeks ago. And i inserted a Micro SD card 32gb Kingston to my device yesterday.
When i restart my tablet, it seems like okay when a notification appear in the screen "Preparing external storage..." , but the problem is here: the notification is pop-up in just 1 second then disappear.
And i cant enter my micro sd card. I go to setting -> storage and only see Internal storage 32gb.
Then i go to file manager and cant see anything about micro sd card.
I think the format of my micro sd card is wrong, or something wrong ? Cuz the tablet regconized something inserted in it so i can say there is nothing wrong about the device, isn't it ?" "
I using tf201 ICS .28 and have problem with sandisk 32G class 10. Help me huhu. Thanks for alls !!!
Hi, insert card into your pc or mac and check the card file system. If its ntfs, format it as fat32.

A MicroSD card formatted as NTFS should work with the Prime.
All of my 4 32 GB Class 10 MicroSD cards have been formatted as such and I have never experienced any issues with my Prime recognizing them.
Same here I have 32GB Scandisk class 10 microSD formatted with NTFS and no problems. I agree try reformatting the OS...I had problems with exfat or whatever it called

Have you tried another microSDHC card to rule out the possibility of a faulty memory card?

No ! my card is OK. TF201 accept card, in file manager show me microsd card as external storage, but when i coppy and paste data (ex: Grand Theft Auto III) it don't run.
And in "apps2sd" it show " The device doesn't have a real primary external storage, or the primary external storage is emulated".
I wan't use the card for install apps (similar card on Samsung galaxy ace S5830). Help me please ! Thanks for all !

Try resetting factory settings
Hi! Try to reset to factory settings in the OS settings. This worked for my problem with external devices.
Anyone tried it?
Yes it does.

Thanks for confirming that 64GB works with L9.
Few years back I came across a MicroMax device which is lower end simple phone without camera, but as per CATALOGUE and MANUAL, it was said it will support 2GB Memory card only. Once just to see if it works, I inserted 8GB Memory Card and voila!! It supported it without any issue. Only problem was it took longer time to start as hell lot of time was taken in reading card.
This explains why they limit the use of higher capacity memory cards, "for performance issue".
it says in the manual of the phone up to 32gb so in turn some models may not support it or may support it and give issues later down the road as my droid bionic and and a few other phones i had samsung was one of em the sd card port went disfunctional and at the end of the phones life the sd card slot was unusable what so ever any card i put in would not read so be very careful of that cause it can and cant mess up the port but that is from user expierence
Can anyone confirm using a 64 GB memory card ? Also, anyone able to install Apps to SD card ? I followed instructions and did on ADK setinstalllocation 2 but in a application called app2sd it says i might be unable to install to SD as it is emulated and shown only as a folder and not a separate device.
A side note: you MUST insert a blank card EXCEPT it's formatted in FAT32.

Correct. Lots of Android devices don't like NTFS formated microsd cards at higher capacity.

oops. Thanks for correcting me.
Maybe it was just me, but using a 64gb card caused me to constantly run into an error where the card became Read-Only. Tried so many different formattings and permission fixes to correct it but nothing worked. Popped in my old 16gb card and it worked like a charm.
SD Sanddisk Class10 Ok
Hi
I worked with SD 64 GB SD card, and work very good, but i patitioned in in 2 partitions, one vfat and 2nd in ext4, the second partition have some times troubles, then i errase this and only have vfat.
Just bought a new sandisk 64gb card. When I try to mount the SD card I get "damaged card" notification in my status bar. I selected it and it gave the option to format. I did but to no avail. Will this ROM support that size?

I ran into the same problem before. Sadly, the Note does not support 64gb sd cards. The max that you can get is 32gb, unless someone out there can prove me wrong.
Been running a 64GB samsung card in my I717R since release date without issue. I did originally format the card in another phone.
If you need help please use the correct forum. Moved
Is the card formatted to NTFS ?....or FAT32?
also ....is the card an SDXC card ?
Been reading for a bit to attempt helping, and the card should function fine if first formatted to FAT32, but as stated by agoattamer ..cannot be done by the usage device.
Perhaps via card reader and PC ?
Hope it helps a bit ..g

I am using a Rogers branded Note with stock ICS. I purhcased a 64GB Sandisk MicroSD a while back. Out of the box, it would not work, as the card was formatted in exfat. I had to format it to FAT32 first.
Unfortunately windows 7 did not allow this.. I think the card was too big. So I had to google how to, and used a free utility to do it (sorry, I do not recall the name of the app).
Works great now
I did find a fat32 software that works. I only got 59.45gb out of it. I used 32768 for the allocation size.
Would a larger allocation size get me the full 64gb available?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
You won't ever get the full 64GB. It is just how it is. Check your hard drives on your computer and you will find the same result.
I was wondering if i could use a 64gb sd card on my ham2. I currently have a 32gb but thats a bit small for me. Thanks

I am using a 64gb and have heard 128gb work too. I use a fat 32 partition and link2sd and use external sd as main storage.
I too am using 64GB -- formatted to FAT32. If I recall, my card was pre-formatted with 2 partitions which the phone will not recognise. If you format it to NTFS, TWRP might not recognise it in recovery mode. Windows will not format such a large drive as FAT32, so you will have to use another tool -- e.g. MiniTool.
The caveat is avoid using a (cheap) USB card reader. I've corrupted the card before when transferring too much data to the card. Newer readers built into your laptop or using the USB cable directly to the phone seem okay.

^^ Same as those guys, I also am using a 64gb card. No issues! Though surprisingly it made my Xperia bug out, lol
Just be sure you get something beyond first gen (40,MBS) cards. I have had 0 issues with anything up to 64gb I now have two 128gb cards that both work but get corrupted and require a format every time I attempt to transfer 10 + Gigs of information at a time.
