Yo
Yo,
Its really nice to see some dudes are still supporting the galaxy player 5.0.
In particular someone is working on a kernel. I was working on the kernel for a month, but I ran against many problems
and headache (mostly because my lack of Linux-kernel knowledge ). Hopefully gmilz can reach a working ICS/JB kernel.
Good luck everyone!

Good so I'm assuming I can count super master 34 in on the team

hi guys, i've been wondering if there are any free developers and programmers that are skilled enough to port a few of the well known ROMS from the i9300 (international) version of the SGS3 to the US releases such as:
Omega
Omega AOKP
AOKP
CM9
and maybe the Siyah Kernel as well.
I Am willing to be patient as i'm sure many other are for these Roms. and i would just like to know if there are any people working on this already because the Omega ROM looks tiiighht.
If you're on the sprint version Team Epic is porting Cm9, once Cm9 is ported the rest will follow.

sweet man thanks!
I will be working with gmillz and supermaster 34 to give all of the galaxy player 5.0 usa owners a nice jar of jelly beans.
So far gmillz is working on a kernel which will supposedly fix all the problems we had with ics rom with the current GB kernel.
supermaster34 will be technical support.
Not to be rude but you probably shouldn't post in this thread unless you want to help out with our project
THE JELLY BEAN INITIATIVE BEGINS NOW !!

I call being beta tester. I help both the master and gmillz to beta test their ROMs. Also, you shouldn't tag the thread name with [rom]… people might get confused. Something like [WIP][Discussion] would sound user friendly.

I also would like to be a beta tester too!
this is great news! thanks to all involved
Maybe we should rename this thread to [WIP][Player 5] The Jellybean Initiative. Might be a bit less confusing

you acctually have a kernel that will fix the problems ? so than the camera will be fixed ?? and also bluetooth ?? man that would be awsome
International version? Why are the kernels different for 99.99% same device.Good luck and thanks for hard work.

Galaxy s WiFi 4/5 = galaxy player 4/5
Also I think the biggest obstacle to getting CM10 is the kernel. I think we need to add init.trace.rc (I might be wrong) to the kernel to get it to boot

I can't do anything with are prebuilt kernel for some reason. And I can't compile either. So until I can do one of those things no cm10
Write here compilation errors.
And i have written how to possibly repair camera in CM9 in panaroid cm9 post.

If you guys need some1 to help test, I have a USA Galaxy Player 5.0, and ill test the ROMs if you would like some other users to test any bugs, glitches, etc.
I can test it too. fully working galaxy player U.S. 5.0 right here.
Can also test if needed

Gmillz you know me, ready to test whenever
I think I did well with the ROM, but the kernel isn't booting. Well, I guess we need at least a 3.0 before starting developing on this
hey if your are trying to port it maybe a could give your some files from my Nexus 7 tablet? or its fine if your doing it from scratch

Thanks a lot but doing it from source is easier, because Nexus 7 JellyBean has some device specs that doesn't fit our Player. Compiling fron source or porting CM10 over is easier

Ill take you up on that offer, lol! Could you give me your framework-res.apk and systemUI.apk? It's amazing how hard it is to find official Google pngs for theming! Thanks! (Sorry, off topic, I know).

Hello guys!
I'm Macław. Maybe some of you knows me as developer of Ace and Gio ROMs.
I was a first guy, who run fully working ICS (AOSP and CM9) and JB on Ace/Gio.
Now, when I received my S3 Mini, I want to start developing here.
<LINKS Removed> Thread Closed - No placeholders as per XDA rules and members should not be directed to another site.
My plan:
Run CM10 (based on 4.1) on it from my source DONE
Fix all important things
Enable USB OTG
Enable 1080i recording (yes, it's possible)
Run CM10.1 (based on 4.2) on it from my source
Fix all important things on CM10.1
Run AOSP 4.2 on it
We have working CM10 with base functionallity already!

Sorry about such a long title. The question is mainly aimed at developers. At the moment (correct me if I am wrong) 4.2.2 by team Canjica is the latest working cyanogen-based rom for xu. It has not been updated in a while and there are no major working builds out by other devs with 4.2.2, although 4.1s are quite a few and are updated fairly regularly. What is the catch and will this situation likely change? Why do people not fork from Canjica's progress? All but front cam is functional.

Probably because 4.1 are based on Sony stock rom, while 4.2.2 is based on CM and build from source and require a lot more work.

May be because FXP is more famous than TeamCanjica, although TeamCanjica has done a great job.

4.2.2 daily use here - seems ok save for front cam and can't account for bluetooth as I'm not using it. It is just as I understand development - it is building on the best towards even better and right now we do have a fairly solid 4.2.2 with sources, meanwhile people keep using earlier stuff for their roms also cyano-based. I'm only hoping everyone is waiting for a 4.4 to go hot.
