Call reject text on ICS messaging app - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I removed touchwiz's craptastic messaging app and successfully replaced it with ICS. Now when I use the call reject text message it doesn't work. It gives me the option and allows me to press send but nothing happens. Anybody got an answer other than going back to stock messaging app?

Is nobody else having this problem?

Handcent and Visual Voicmail

Since the Evo 3D cannot be rooted yet I am hoping that this is something that can be explained and someone has had similar problem and has a answer.
I have had te Evo 3D since launch day and Handcent is probably the first app I installed on day one ad seemsed to be working just fine until a few days ago.
When I get a voicemail it use to go to the stock visual voicemail but the last few I had gotten my notification started coming from Handcent. It would say I have a message and to call to listen and it would have a 480-970-0000 # to call. Now if I am not mistaken that is a Google voice number but I haven't ever used google voice even though I have a google voice account.
I kept trying to go through Handcent to see if all the settings were correct but I couldn't find anything out of place. Then I did the only thing I could think of and that was to remove handcent and my visual voicemail returned.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to correct it?
I want to keep and use Handcent but I can't figure out why it just started interferring with voicemail.
Can anyone explain this oddity? I hate the stock message app and hope there is a solution because I don't want to have o continue using it and want to us Handcent.
Now I haven't tried to use GoSMS to see if it will work with it but isn't it on the exact same format as Handcent? They are so similar I wonder if they aren't really the same app just different names.
you have to uncheck handcent's setting making it the default messenger. the native sms app has to get the trigger for visual voicemail.
thanks, I was wondering if that would do it. I did uncheck it and voicemails seems to be working properly.....
Where exactly is that option to "uncheck handcent's setting making it the default messenger" can't seem to find it. I myself am having that problem.

I had this problem too and this fixed it for me as well.
In the handcent sms app hit your menu button, go to settings => application settings => default messaging application => disable.
If you intend to only use handcent as I do, make sure to turn off your notifications in the stock messaging app so you don't receive two notifications per 1 message.
Also, on a side note, I had a problem with sending picture messages over handcent, they would always seem to get hung up and not send, but when i tried to send on the stock app it sent just fine. Anyone else have this happen to them?
Thanks for the help, found it!
Also, I get the same problem sometimes when sending picture msgs, where they get "hung up" as you mentioned. Usually when that happens to me, I cancel the picture mail then resend it again. That sometimes works for me.
i have the same problem with gosms but i dont have any option to disable it as the default messaging app

Actually I just went through this and there is a solution that lets you use Handcent and Visual Voicemail.
In Handcent the latest version allows you to make Handcent your default SMS/MMS app. Of course the natural thing to do is select that. Well that's what messes up VVM and causes those annoying text messages instead of the actual voicemails being sent to your device.
Just select "Disable" for that feature. (turn off all notifications on the stock message app so you don't get double notifications).
Next go to VVM and click on the menu and select compose. Put your own phone number in the TO: address field. Next, record a short 1 or 2 second message. Then press send. This will cause VVM to begin working again and in a few seconds any voicmails that are waiting will be sent to your device.
By the way, I've sent the folks at Handcent an email letting them know of this issue. They have yet to respond.
Thanks for the workaround mvansomeren, this was driving me NUTS! All temp fixed thanks to your instructions. Hopefully Handcent will release an update.
I know the feeling! Glad it worked for you as well.

[Q] Text messages not appearing

I have Google Voice integration set up via Sprint (and I'm using the default text message handler).
For some reason when I have a conversation actually open on the screen I can get a text message (sound and vibration), and the message bar at the top will preview it, but it's not showing in the actual conversation.
I've missed several MMS this way (as well as normal texts).

yea, if i read your post right, it sounds like the same bug i've been experiecing. def an odd bug in the htc sense messaging app they provide as stock software. i'm also using gv thru sprint integration. usually hitting the back arrow to exit the conversation and move back to the sms inbox then allows the new message to populate.
because of this bug i've now developer the habiting of exiting all conversations and going back to the inbox before turning the screen off or switching programs.
if you're experiencing a different bug, could you perhaps provide more detail?
Pretty much the exact same thing except it never comes back, even if I hit back and go back into it.
I'll give another messaging app a try.

oh how odd the message doesn't appear when you exit the conversation..
perhaps there is an issue with the sms-mms database the app is using. the only easy solution there would be to wipe the database it is using and start fresh. i don't think there are any tools for analyzing the sms-mms database used by the htc messaging app as the sms-mms databased used by the aosp messaging app is different.
if wiping the database doesnt clear the issue, then it would appear most definitely to be a htc messaging app bug.
also, the nice option with google voice is you can check the gv app on your device to see whether or not the actual message came all the way through. if it appears in gv, but not in htc stock messaging app, thats def a bad sign for the htc messaging app (assuming you have good cell signal).
perhaps one of the developers might be encouraged to take a look into the app and see if its a bug they're able to fix through decompiling and recompiling the app.
Handcent seems to have fixed the issue.
I wouldn't be able to check Google Voice since the issue seems to have been most prevalent on MMS messages.
I've had lots of issues with Google Voice integration. I would randomly stop getting text messages for 1-2 hours at a time, every 2-3 days. If I checked Google Voice the messages were there, but they never came in on my phone. I could send messages to other carriers just fine. I couldn't get their messages though. Sprint was no go both ways.
After I deactivated Google Voice, the issue went away. Sucks, I'd love to use the application.

HTC EVO 4G LTE Carbon Rom (4-28-13) MMS bug

I am getting a glitch when using the stock messaging app. When I get a multimedia message (a message with multiple pictures in it), the app tries to play it as a slideshow. It tries to open it but nothing happens. Is there a link to another stock sms app I can download that fixes this bug? If I use Handcent, then I'm able to open or play the message as a slideshow.

I can reproduce this bug with the stock messaging app very easily. I am on Carbon Rom (4-28-2013) and s-off. If I go into Gallery, select two pictures, select share, select the stock messaging app, and send the mms message to myself, when I get the message the app won't be able to play it. Nothing happens when you hit play. It's supposed to play it as a slideshow. Using Handcent, however, the mms file is able to be played as a slideshow. Check it out and you'll see. There's definitely a bug with the stock messaging app and this ROM.

Try searching the MMS fix for CM 10.1, which iirc Carbon is built from. Some people found putting in the APNs through voice dialer helped. I personally used Go SMS Pro and it received mms fine. (However Go SMS has an option for your APNs if needed like the stock app, however adding it to the stock app didn't help for me)

I thought this fix was more for if people weren't receiving MMS at all. I think the OP is talking about receiving the MMS but the app won't display when you click the big grey play button. I've experienced the same thing running CM10.1 and Carbon while receiving an MMS with text in it, the app thinks it's a slide show and is presented to me that way within the messaging thread. When I click the play button to view what it thinks is a slide show, I can barely catch a glimpse of the picture until it blinks away then I'm left at the messaging threads.
It seems to be a messaging app or slideshow viewer problem rather than an MMS receiving issue. If I receive just a pic with no text I can view the image just fine and I'm not presented with the big grey play button.
I can't believe no one else has this issue...unless I'm misunderstanding the APN fix, but that thread doesn't sound like the same problems.

Yes I don't believe that is the same issue. I have no problems sending and receiving a MMS message. It's only when there is a slideshow MMS that the stock messaging app fails to play it properly. I have switched to Handcent to resolve the issue. If anyone knows of a fix please let me know. Thank you for the replies guys!

I've got the same exact issue with SlimBean. Seems installing a 3rd party app is the only solution. Annoying.

[Q] KitKat bug: SMS sent from non-default app results in duplicate outgoing message

Using GlowFly, SMS Enhancer, and SMS Popup (all similar apps), and their Quick Reply feature, stock messaging and Chomp both show the same message going out twice (the recipient actually receives one message).
I believe this is because of KitKat's new requirement of a default SMS app being the only one that can send. However, Quick Reply circumvents it, and I think it results in this bug.
Anyone know what I can do to fix it? I love the feature.
Thanks!

Message app on KK

Hi, I know that KitKat only allows to have one message app that will send sms. But is there any way to overide this? On JB I used 3 apps, I like to send messages with stock LG app, read messages and replaying htem with HoverChat when I'm in app, and I have "mysms" app, to send and recive messages from my PC, now I must just choose one of this options which is very uncomfortable. Is there any way to "fix" this?
