Hi all,
I've got a huge problem! I have a Flyer that was running LeeDrOiD 4.3 but I wanted to revert it back to stock GB. I was able to get it onto stock HC but I couldn't get it to install GB.
I thought it might be because of the Revolutionairy unlock method I used so I tried to reset this back to stock through reinstalling hboot. I put the Flyer in fastboot and ran a program which ran the command: fastboot flash hboot engHBOOToverARX.img
I believe I installed some other phone's hboot because now my Flyer won't start up in any form or way anything anymore. Not the bootloader, not HC, not the bootscreen. The red light indicating that it's being charged also won't blink anymore.
Goodnews however is that through fastboot I can still somehow get access to the tablet. Can anyone please provide me with the source where I can download the HTC Flyer hboot file? Or tell me what I'm supposed to do.
Thanks in advance for any help given. Apologies for being such a n00b.
I am not sure if all Hboot versions work for all flyers. I have a Flyer Hboot loaded to my drop box but to be honest I do not think it will do you much good.
Thanks for your reply! Ok, I'm not too sure about that either.
Do u know if there is any way of finding out which hboot files are suitable for my HTC Flyer (even though it's not powering on anymore)?
And can u send/link me the hboot file you had in your dropbox? I'd really like to try.
fixed
After a month long battle trying to do find appropriate hboot files to somehow get my flyer back to stock I finally managed to do this.
In the process I screwed up my flywr so bad that it wouldn't relock the bootloader anymore. Because of this the tablet didn't wouldn't reinstall the original RUU.
I tried to completely erase the hboot through a script I found somewhere on an HTC desire topic. This only made it worse because this script had erased everything. My restore partition, my boot partition, everything...
At this point there was nothing to fix anymore because the bootloader wouldn't load, fastboot wouldn't recognize, the tablet was toasted. I screwed it up so far that even htc wouldn't be able to check what I did to it.
At this moment I decided to return it and try to go for my warranty and it worked. I know got a completely new flyer and this time I'm keeping it completely stock except for a little root access.
I live in the Netherlands. Got my new flyer after 1 week.
If someone is interested I can look for the script that sends your flyer into oblivion
I would love to get your service guy to take mine rooted flyer into warranty after few rain drops to fix mine problems or get new Flyer. U can keep the script.

I've had my thunderbolt happily running BAMF Remix 1.6.3 and Inoseyon's Kernel for about 2 weeks now. I bought an aftermarket battery off Ebay today and charged it up, then took the battery out of my old phone and put in the new aftermarket one. Tried to boot up, and am bootlooping at the white HTC splash screen.
Thinking the battery was junk, I put back in my old battey and tried to boot, same issue now, bootlooping. I can get into HBOOT but not recovery.
I'm not even sure what the solution is for a bricked phone in this condition (I'm assuming follow the "restore to stock" instructions in the development area) but I'm wondering if Froyo bricking is something anyone even reported.
I'm kind of in a time crunch so if anyone needs me to do something prior to re-flashing please let me know!
Okay, well I've been trying to research this (there REALLY needs to be a well-updated, concise Bricked Phone FAQ or something) and it does seem like I'm legimately bricked.
Phone goes to white HTC screen, then to black (shuts off it seems) then back to white HTC screen. Does this constantly. I can get into HBOOT but if I try to go into recovery, I'm back to the white screen bootlooping.
I tried factory reset, same deal, just went straight to white screen. I have no way of knowing if downgrading to the stock RUU would help without actually DOING it, which from what I understand would not be helpful to you folks.
Per HBOOT I still have S-OFF, and I'm more than happy to try to give you folks the info you need, but I have no idea how to get ADB to talk to me phone when it's not even able to turn on. I would need someone to give me reasonably simple instructions for how to do this.
Also, I can't wait forever on this, I'd post it in the actual development area but XDA feels I am not worthy of posting in there due to my noob status. If someone needs me to run some tests on the phone before flashing the stock .zips in HBOOT I need to hear back on this soon.
If hboot is stable and not looping, you should be able to flash the stock ruu, then unroot again. Gb loops happen in hboot too that's more serious

You can return to stock via the instructions in that thread if you like. But if you don't want to have to root again and you aren't bootlooping in hboot, you can flash the rooted MR1 RUU in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082114 . This will take you back to rooted MR1 update. Just download, verify md5, rename PG05IMG.zip, put on root of sd, boot into bootloader and let it flash.
Excellent, thanks for the info. I hadn't realized the legit bricking issue caused hboot to be unstable as well. I'm almost sorry it's not the real deal, I was hoping to get you guys the emcc data ya'll were looking for.
Ok guys, so I attempted to unroot my phone and return to s-on because I have to take it in to Sprint, but the thing is, I'm pretty sure I bricked it. I got the stock RUU installed and turned S-ON, but now it's stuck on the htc screen. So, here's the thing, I was wondering, is there a way to get S-OFF from HBOOT or Fastboot? If so, I think I may be able to fix this thing, if not, ****.
Well if your phone is S-ON and has the stock RUU installed... Whats the problem?
Edit: I mean if you're taking it to Sprint...

If it turns on then it may be fixable. Unfortunately I do not know how. I tried to unroot mine and totally bricked it where it would not even turn on.
Motorola Atrix 4G User Sharing some love
1)Download the RUU here:
http://www.multiupload.com/2QWMDPG2M8
2)Rename the file to PG86IMG
2)Copy to the root of your sd card
3)Boot into bootloader by pulling battery and holding power+volume down until you see bootloader.
4)Bootloader will scan for PG86IMG
5)Click power button to select install for the file
6)Bootloader will now install
7)Tell your EVO 3D to reboot
Dude! I had tried that before and I don't know what is different about that, but it worked! I think your RUU may have been better than the one I got originally. Thanks!
So I had some "help" from a well meaning visiting nephew who was playing with my phone and noticed that I had an update available and decided that I should really have the latest software on my phone...so now I am on 2.17 with hboot 1.5, locked bootloader and all with no custom recovery BUT I am still s-off. I have a NAND backup that is not to old that I did with CWM, but how do I get to that to install it?
I have been looking for several hours and cant seem to find a solution...maybe I'm just searching under the wrong keywords...nevertheless HELP!!!!!!!
I am in the process of downloading a 1.13 stock ruu. Will that work or is there a quicker way to get this done?
I would prefer to avoid HTC unlock if I can, and my understanding is that with s-off, I should be able to.
Thanks for helping bail my ass out guys and girls!
(I thought about it, but no, I didnt beat the kid...his intentions were good...at least they better have been...)
Have you tried flashing a cwm recovery? I think I read someone had the same problem.seens your s-off you should still be able to flash a recovery, and after that's done then you can be able to wipe and flash anything you want, and you well even be able to downgrade your hboot.
Nope, it wont let me flash a recovery through fastboot...access denied (phone shows locked). I cant install it with "flash image gui" because i dont have root.
I know it should be an easy fix because I have the all important s-off...I just cant find how to do it.

S-Off just means that the security is off, and you're able to write onto the boot partition of the phone when flashing a ROM, in one shot. If your Hboot = 1.50, you may have to unlock your bootloader via HTCDEV method, your phone gets wiped. Try HTC SuperTool, maybe it will work, since you're S-Off.

Follow my post and the links in there should get you back to 1.4

Thank you, that got me back in where I needed to be! Was able to load CWM again and restored from my back up...now all I need to do is make since of all the conflicting instructions to do this update so the icon goes away...found some that are fairly clear, but the links are broken now that the upload sites are blacklisted.
Either way, just glad to have my hboot back where it belongs.
Hello,
Right, I am aware that I've probably made a huge mistake, but I thought, "hey, warranty void because of my screen, why not?", but I have searched and searched and was up until three this morning trying to find a solution, but I only kept getting confused (bare in mind I'm only sixteen).
I rooted my phone using the HTCDev method, and flashed the LoLic Sense ROM, it worked and I turned my phone back on and it got stuck on the bootscreen. So, I downloaded the RUU and tried to go back to stock, and it kept failing. I even tried the PG86IMG.zip and even that didn't work. So, I downgraded to the LEEDroid ROM that came with the revolutionary package I'd used before the official update to ICS, and now I can't even get past the initial HTC screen.
Please can anybody help me get back to stock on my phone? I've managed it before, but this time I keep seeming to come up short.
Thank you
EDIT:
I'm on HBOOT 1.53.0007 - after updating to the official ICS.
I've tried downgrading using the Gingerbread RUU and it won't install on the phone. I can't S-OFF using the wire trick because I'm afraid to break it even more.
I've tried flashing the rooted GB zip in clockworkmod and it says its installed, but I can't turn the phone on and it only gets to the first white HTC screen and then turns itself off.
I'm terrified that I may have broken my only phone and I don't know what to do, please can somebody help me?
If you are S-ON HTC Dev unlocked you need 4ext with smartflash or fastboot flash boot boot.img to install the kernel.
So yesterday I had my Aria in my pocket and I guess the power button got nudged and the screen turned on, lo and behold I pull my phone out of my pocket to find the lovely words written on the screen that too many pattern attempts have been attempted and that the device is locked. Only problem is I use this phone for everything but the phone function, I don't even have a sim in there. So with WiFi off, and no mobile network I was stuck for a bit. But then I finally sat down with it and luckily I had kept USB debugging on so I used adb to hack it. And that is where my urgent problem starts. After finally unlocking it I decided to might as well upgrade it, it was running 2.0.2 I believe Liberated ROM with CWM. So I started browsing around because I haven't really worked with this phone before all that much, I ended up reflashing to stock rom and then was going to use a nifty tool to get my hboot to 1.02, well it worked, the nifty tool flashed my hboot alright, along with my ROM and everything else there was. I am now stuck with a brick, the phone goes to the boot logo and then reboots... over and over and over until I pull the battery. I was charging the phone the whole time while working on it and after the tool was done flashing the hboot I unplugged the phone and a long list of errors ran down the screen of files that the OS was missing. I can get into fastboot, haven't had luck with any reflashs, adb is dud (while in recovery computer recognizes the adb connection but adb only lists the device as inactive. Ever since I lost my Inspire 4G this was my only working mobile device. If you have any tips tricks or clues as to how or if it is possible to come back from this destruction I am all ears.
Thank you in advance :fingers-crossed:
To clarify a bit further, the part that screwed me was the Upgrade HTC Gratia HBOOT for AlpharevX S-OFF tool. It was chugging along just fine up until the very end. The original sites listed for making a gold card are all dead but I managed to find a working one. Now I am trying to figure out what went wrong and why.

The time and date are frozen
First you should S-OFF your phone with revolutionary. Then you need to flash a working recovery image and reflash ROM from there. Should work. If this still doesn't work, flash a modified hboot from the Development forum and see if you have any luck with that...

I cannot get revolutionary to find the device, the system version is 2.37.709.11 and I cannot do anything, if I try flashing anything the sig verification always fails.
(EDIT: Well I got lucky, found an asian RUU with same version, reflashed phone, S-Off, flashed unofficial CWM recovery and unofficial cyanogen 11.)
The problem I was having with revolutionary not recognizing the device was because my hboot version was too old (0.57). I used this AT&T Update package to get back to stock 2.2 and revolutionary worked straight away.
