Been a while since ive posted a question here.
Used search function first, and pre-thread suggestions to no avail.
As of 7/18/12 - Does anyone know if spen support is adopted into any of our CM9, AOKP/CP builds? Ive been having some minor issues with the current release Im running, but I had to use the spen just yesterday for a screenshot that nothing else would work on. I cant justify leaving my ROM without proper spen support elsewhere.
Thank you for your replies and insight.
TD
Nothing as of yet to my knowledge, and I've scoured the forums pretty hard over the last week. I honestly think we are seeing a huge push for JB right now, and merging those commits is top priority...IMHO
Of course, thats not to say that CM, AOKP, wont include some type of support later, but until the JB work is solid, I doubt it will happen. I've reverted back to a rooted stock rom for my S-stuff for now, at least until we start to see some pen action brewing.
And I really cant say how much TouchWiz will be pulled to support it either...maybe none.....IMHO as it's a Samsung thing, and may be an intellectual property issue...
Sure would be nice to see CM10 with s-pen......(dream)....for now.....g
Dagr8's king kang does have spen support, however no gestures. Screenshot can be added to the power menu, and I believe power+volume down will ss as well.

If it's the stock S-Pen apps that your inquiring about, then no.you won't see them supported by CM9, AOKP and probably CM10 as well. From my understanding, the Samsung S-Pen apps require Touchwiz in order to operate. Since CM9 doesn't support Touchwiz it doesn't have the appropriate framework for the Samsung apps to run. You can however still use non-Samsung 3rd party apps.

When you say it doesn't support gestures I assume you mean anything related to holding the button correct? Do you know if the S Pen pressure sensitivity feature is still supported, in a 3rd party app that doesn't require touchwiz of course. I wonder if it would be possible to still take advantage of the button in that ROM.

There are apps in the store that claim to be present sensitive so I imagine it must still be possible to take advantage of some of the S-pen functionalities.

The button and gestures as well as the pressure ARE the specific s-pen functions...
the s-pen will always work to register a touch, and always has, on EVERY Rom...they just perceive it as your finger, or an ordinary stylus.
And the volume down and power to screen shot will be in every aosp Rom...as that function was added into ics from the start by Google.
Papyrus beta has pressure sensitivity support and button support. It's a free drawing app.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
As does Markers (my daughters favorite) and a few others. What you miss by not being able to use the Samsung apps is the way they are all linked through the framework. Example: being able to write a Note and have is directly added to your calendar. AFAIK, there are no 3rd party apps that work in that fashion.
Button support would be nice in aosp/cm* i.e. screenshot and pressure. I thought source/kernel would allow these ports to happen...
Also pen+picture editing in aosp gallery by default would be nice also. Id like to just open a pic and click edit and be able to use the pen without all the hoops to jump through.

#TeamFenix (IRC channel: #mytouchslide on Freenode) presents Cyanogenmod 6
Details/Goal: I've owned Android phones for about 2 years now, I've always enjoyed making minor tweaks to the previously simple CyanogenMod so that it would suit my purposes (lightweight, fast, good battery life). When CM6 came along I was slightly distraught that it had taken a turn for heavily drifting from the old AOSP with Google Apps (not entirely for the worse though). So I decided that I will modify CM6 to suit my needs and eventually compile it from source instead of relying on Eugene's or the nightlies.
Changes:
2.0
-Stuff was done, or something
-EVEN MOAR AUDIO FILES
-Better bootanimation
-100% untested!
1.9 (unreleased)
-**** all
1.8:
-Rebased on newest nightly
-Removed lots of crapware
-Made a flashable .zip that will let you restore said crapware
-Played with the kernel
--Apparently broke with the kernel, must use OC kernel (I think)
-It's BLACK!
-Fixed the force closes (by way of apk removal) of the Pinyin IME/OpenWnn IME.
1.7.1:
-Minor build.prop change to allow stock Swype to install/work
-something else I forget
1.7:
-Removed Swype as it is for wrong device (try the 2 linked below
-Custom pr0tips.apk (built off LithiumMod's source, thanks guys!)
-Bootanimation is back (custom #TeamFenix one soon!)
-Bluetooth audio (possibly) fixed, see instructions below
-Fixed the provision annoyance
Flashed and running. All good.
I think I'm having poor 3G reception at this time. WiFi works though....
I can confirm Bluetooth is working!
Keyboard works except the FN and Shift indicators.
More testing tomorrow....
I was able to update Swype using my method here:

Apps2SD works fine (tested Froyo's native move to SD, with the Dictionary.com application on a 100% FAT32 card)
I can suggest some replacements to Sense applications if you wish (Beautiful Widgets + it's widget packs are great alternatives to their stock Espresso counterparts)

I'm not quite sure, I thought I had it working but it errors out (wrong device). You could try one of these versions listed, I will contact Eugene today or tomorrow to see if he has any insight
Also I was partially wrong about the camera being 100% fixed, the flash doesn't work (I saw a commit that probably will fix it by @cmsrc so it may be working tomorrow)
edit: The camera LED only works for the camera, not external programs. The aforementioned fix should correct it.

Some Issues:
The only way to bring up the lock screen is to press the power button or menu button. Home, trackpad, back, genius doesn't.

What's wrong with the Froyo implementation? Personally I think the old method was a PITA
Also those aren't issues, but configurable options. See CM Settings > Input > Trackpall unlock/wake. The others seem rather redundant (do you really wanna wear out home/menu/back instead of using the trackpad? Personal preference I guess, you can set WAKE_UNLOCK in the /usr/keylayout files though if that's really your cup of tea)

I just reloaded the rom and s-pen works now.. I hardly use the s-pen so i didn't think to try it out. I edited the origin post with this new information. Definitely work on your mod so we can have full s-pen functionality and the convenience of the extended power menu

I noticed the send button on messaging a while after i posted it. I can live with it. For some reason i have not been able to use the s-pen to pull up the s-memo app from the homescreen or to take screenshots since i started using UCLE2. I double tap on the screen and it just pulls up the apex launcher settings & when i hold the button on the s-pen and press down on the screen nothing happens. THis was before i flashed this extended power menu.

So I know that the devs are hard at work on getting us all kinds of CM, AOSP, and/or AOKP goodness, but I thought maybe if any of the devs are looking for some features to add it might be nice to have a thread they can refer to with everyones "wants" once the "needs" are met.
I'll start it off with a request to add support for BLN (back light notification) to an upcoming kernel. This, combined with the option to put the navigation bar on while dissabling the HW keys would be a great feature IMHO. Not to mention our stock notification LED pretty much sucks a big one.
ROM feature requests
Flashlight in notification drawer quick settings
More options in the shutdown menu (Boot to recovery, etc)
Get rid of the idiotic audio policy of volume reduction when plugging in headphones
Allow dialer rotation
The option to see the standard swipe lock screen before the secure lock.
True music controls on the lock screen
Better control of status bar icons (center clock, hide icons, change colors of icons, etc)
The ability to link the notification volume with the ringer volume
Volume rocker music controls
Universal Qslide
Kernel feature requests
BLN
Enable audio through USB for devices like the Infuse Car Dock (I think this is a kernel issue, if not let me know and I'll put it with the ROM stuff)
I didn't see a similar thread on here, so if there is, kindly point me to it and a mod can delete this one. And if BLN support already exists in Sk8's kernel tell me that too, ha ha.
I haven't looked into the ROMs because I'm liking stock, but a request I do have for when I do decide to flash is to have a flashlight if it hasn't been incorporated into the ROMs out now. There's a lot of times where I need to look for something and don't feel like turning on my light switch. Would be a nice thing to be implemented if it hasn't been done and can be done.

I don't know if this is what you have in mind, but I use TeslaLED: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.flashlight&feature.. It has a widget you can add to the homescreen for a quick on off, as well as some other features. I actually have it as one of my lock screen apps. I wish there was a way to have it turn on when opened from the lockscreen, but it's only one extra tap.
Edit: Gah! John beat me to one.
PS: TeslaLED is only 512K, whereas Tiny Flashlight is anything but at 1.5M

My wishlist:
1. Get rid of the idiotic audio policy of volume reduction when plugging in headphones
2. Allow dialer rotation
3. Enable audio through USB for devices like the Infuse Car Dock.
The two features I really want to see are:
- The option to see the standard swipe lock screen before the secure lock.
- true music controls on the lock screen instead of using the notification controls
sent from my LGOG
My biggest things are center clock, ability to hide things on status bar, and a flashlight toggle. The Base has done pretty well but I would love a flashlight toggle in my quick settings in my notification drawer. The swipe for flashlight thing was so touchy that I disable it.
Also, I love the theme chooser app and ability to have easy themes for my ROMs like in CM10 and AOKP
EDIT: also the ability to boot straight into download and recovery mode like in certain other ROMs using the power button.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
The Base ROM does have a flashlight built in, you can activate it in the notification drawer options.
I was using Tesla until I found this.
Though I do wish it was in the Quick Settings too.
I would also love native reboot options.
And lastly, I would love the ability to link the notification volume with the ringer volume.
I know. The swipe thing only works half the time and half of that half, I end up with The Base force closes

I had actually forgot about this feature. I just tried it again and sometimes it takes three or four swipes to turn on. Might be user error though.
Swipe for torch works perfect for me.
Reboot options would be nice.
Volume Button Music controls would be nicer.
I actually came up with a wish while looking at the android dev section.
It doesn't actually have to do with the rom itself, but I'm hoping that as things become further developed to not only have a Changelog but to have a what's working list/what's not working list or just the latter.
I see a lot of threads gets bogged down with DOES THIS WORK? IS THIS INCLUDED?
Granted there's a group of people out there that don't read and just flash, but it could be helpful for another group of people that compare and contrast roms (like myself) before flashing.
Anyone else agree?

That makes sense to me. I wonder if xda could get a ROM form together so all the devs can include all the same info in their ROM's thread's OP. I don't know how practical that would be, but it would be nice to have some standardization.

I use Awesome Note from the Galaxy note 8.0. I would definitely check that out. Google "Awesome note galaxy 8" and click the first link to read about it and also download it.
You can also get the g note apk through google as well. Google "g note apk" and click the first xda link. Always always always try google first man, it will help a lot:good:
Also Handy note pro is a great note taking app I use as a backup when I write lengthy notes in class. It has a magic pen feature that keeps your handwriting in straight lines kinda as if you were writing on lined paper. It's weird at first but a great feature once used to it. It has a free version to try out I believe, otherwise handy note pro you have to pay for. (you can get it free by many means but I don't think I'm allowed to disclose that unless you pm me) check any of these apps out and see how they work for you.
Quill
Don't quote, reply. If you quote, edit.
I use GMD S-Pen control from the play store. It has many built-in gestures and you are able to create your own gestures as well. I think it works really well with all the jellyBean roms...
I've tried all of these options here except for GMD S-Pen and here's what I found:
Awesome note galaxy 8 - Does not work well with AOSP ROM's like CyanogenMod. I installed it and could not make it work. My device kept FCing; not only that the whole phone was never stable after that. I had CM 10 at the time.
Handy note pro - Is fine and has a lot of features but does not take advantage of the side button of the stylus.
Quill - Was ok. Didn't have good export features.
The ones I have found to be the best at least for me are:
Papyrus - Papyrus takes advantage both the stylus button and single finger touch. You have the option to buy additional feutures, like true erase etc or export to Dropbox.
Memo - Also takes advantage of stylus button and finger touch but does not allow for many options as Papyrus
Write - Also takes advantage of stylus button and finger touch but does not have option to import image. It has real good edit controls and you can set up bookmarks within your notes.
Notable mentions:
Jotter - Is a nice note taker but does not take advantage of stylus button nor single-finger.
S-Pen Voice - This app allows you to record voices while you write; it's the recommended way of taking notes in school The free version is limited. Not sure if you would want to record voice everytime you take a note.
Bamboo - This app is from Wacom, the makers of the Note screen. It has the feeling of a real note-pad but has limited functionality.
I think I've just about listed all the remaining S-Pen apps. Please suggest any other ones not listed here.

Thanks for sharing! However, that link took me no where but after a search was able to find the source Here it is in case someone else wants it:
[APK]Asus Supernote 3.1.0 (Latest)
Requires Xposed Framework!
This module allows you to tap the status bar to scroll (smoothly, at least that's what the API says) to the top of lists.
This isn't compatible with all lists in this first version. Chrome for example isn't compatible, or some manufacturer lists (like the Contacts app in TouchWiz).
If this is patented by a fruit-based company, it'll most likely get a C&D, so keep that in mind when you look forward to updates
Demo:

Known bugs:
Manufacturer specific lists and some other custom scrollers (e.g Chrome) aren't supported yet.
Compatibility:
4.0 - 4.4 probably, I really haven't checked the source code, tested on Sony's 4.3.

Man, I'm about to have a direct subscription to the threads you create. Do you ever stop for a moment without coding useful things??

I do, this took about 2 hours, inspired by a post on Reddit with Android's pros and cons, the code implementation hit me while I was driving home

Yeah I don't code much anymore but that's what used to be the biggest roadblock in most complicated projects I would start. Figure out a way to do it effectively.
Glad it hit you! :victory:
Nice. Works well in tapatalk. Thanks!

It's Apple's not mine
That's stock behavior on iOS.
A bit far fetched, but do you believe it would be possible to add support for more than the standard list? Such as webview?
Since it seems a lot of apps are actually just frontends for a page in webview, plus a lot of browsers using webview, I imagine this could be the next target of your thinkering and would cover most cases. It would be great to be able to scroll to top in a browser too.

I'm looking into Chrome, they supposedly use some kind of standard scroller, since they have the blue overscroll indicator.
I've been looking for something like this since I left iOS. Hopefully you can get it working with chrome. This is great mod indeed!

nicely done, works flawlessly... i have few suggestions/comments
-having little issues with facebook app, it kinda works: moves up by a little but not all the way to the top.
-if possible, allow user to choose the scroll speed when status bar is tapped on? to me, it is kind of slow sometimes... just my opinion
anyway, really appreciate your works for xperia devices. :highfive:
many thanks:fingers-crossed:

Facebook take a few taps. Twitter is working perfectly! I'm sure this will be fixed!

Facebook switched me to the new version, and it works fine there, I guess you'll have to wait for the update that includes that, or Facebook downgrades my account
Second part is controlled by the system, I use a method called smoothScrollTo(0, 0). I'm not sure if that can be easily changed

If you get it magically working with Chrome chances are you'll make it work for a lot of other apps. So that's sweet.
Works great on s3-4.3.
Even with Firefox.
Thnx.

Seems like it causes certain apps to force close. Tapatalk for example, if I go in a topic then back by pressing the back key to my followed topics then press the status bar it will force close. What do you need from me to help diagnose this?
Edit: it does scroll to the top before closing though.
Edit 2: doesn't crash anymore, found out it's because of a broken pvr driver. Ignore this haha
What theme are you using? Is it a CM theme or something I can do with Xposed?
Really awesome module too! Saw it on reddit
Great module, thanks!
