Why can't we use nova and apex launcher on GB...what's so different in the way the application is developed for ICS roms ? Could you port the launcher to GB
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
No, you can't. Apex and nova both use API level 4.0 or upward library which is not available in GB version. I think there is ics-like launcher for gb out there in the market if you are interested to use it, it is called holo launcher.

Yeah I'm using holo launcher and it freezes alot...my question was can someone port those two apps to GB...
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
No...
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
Ask the devs of those apps if they gonna port them to GB, maybe theres a reason why they made those launchers only for ICS
Very simple, they are all based on the ics launcher
So a launcher only based on the android version is only compatiable with the launcher...so launchers like cc cloud,go launcher, adw launcher are based on ?

Mostly on the older launchers from donut/eclair/froyo/gingerbread
Newer launchers are most of the time not backwards compatible on older android releases.
But most older launchers are compatible with newer android releases.
Guess the GB users will have to stick to ADW Launcher ex to enjoy the same features as Nova

Its ok. Cuz i have bought tht too!

Sorry to hijack the thread. But WHY is launcherpro the best? I've used ADW and in my opinion its much better looking and much more functional. But anyway for that being said. ADW EX ftw

LauncherPro runs smoothly the moment you install it. ADW has to be optimized, and tweaked with to get it run barely like LauncherPro.
That's my reason too, i used both adw and lp and my opinion is that lp is better (faster)
Sent from my MB525 using xda premium
I've tried both LauncherPro and ADW and I have to vote for ADW over LauncherPro. Maybe the paid version is better.
What do you mean regarding optimize ADW also? How would this be done?
Go Launcher Ex
ADW Launcher and Zeam Launcher alternatively
For me ADW Launcher is the best because you can customize nearly every part of it
Launcher 7(wp 7 look alike) its free, check in market .

I've been pretty disappointed with the majority of the launchers I've downloaded. Not that they are bad, just not the experience that I'm looking for. They all end up looking the same to me. I like to make my phone unique, the reason I really like android, and most launchers have the same format.
I'm currently using Launcher7 because it's different that all the other android launchers I've seen. Granted, it just looks like WP7 but it's at least different than virtually every other android phone out there. I'm rather fond of the vertical scrolling and the tile aspect of the launcher. I can create my own tile icons, again it that customization, and I can scroll through all the tiles I want on one screen rather than flipping home screen to home screen. It also minimizes how often I need to go to the "app drawer" because all of my most used apps are on one "home screen". Just my opinion. Maybe, at some point, I create my own unique launcher. For now I really appreciate all of the hard work everyone has put into the launchers available.
Peace,
Ray
launcherpro is by far my favorite.
Launcher pro plus
Go launcher
Vtl launcher is the best bc you can edit everything and works with adw themes.

I've settled on adw but i just found dxhome on the market. The weather widget that comes with it only shows cities in china but i think the app as a whole has potential.
Is it possible to port this launcher to gingerbread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1413803
Thanks ^^
I found this the other day too, I think it needs ics to work doesnt it? The framework is different. If not then im thinking of nova launcher.
It looks to be a massive ram using app anyways. Doubt it will be smooth on our phones.

Nova launcher does not work for me. It is illogical because ICS has this launcher, right?
I believe they are working on a GB port ATM. But yes they both require ICS

guys....i think holo launcher will overcome all of them...i mean it's fully customizable (like LP)...and smooth as a butter....and for our low end fone it's simply perfect...especially with the last update it's even better...that's my opinion based on experience though
I can't get ride of launcher pro plus...the most stable for me !

Apex Launcher/Launcher7/Nemus Launcher
My personal choices are Apex and Holo launcher. Both are very fast, and use little resources. But if you need more customization options, you should go with Go Launcher, it seems to be the first choice for most of the people...

Hi there!
Some good reading in this article may cast some light on your question!
If you are running gingerbread, Go Launcher EX is the way to go. If you are running ICS it's Apex or Nova.
But check out the link for yourself!
Don't forget to hit the thanks button if I helped in any way!

I found ambient time home, it's pretty nice, you should try it. And it does not require a lot of memory

Go launcher ex is the one I would recommend. Very good developer..
Sent from my LT15i using xda app-developers app
i recomment NOVA LAUNCHER its very fast and u can put widgets over other widgets
Go Launcher
For me: Go Launcher EX !!!
..because you can sort your apps in folders directly in the app drawer. Simply more overview and quick access in drawer
I think Apex is best for ICS.
And second is GO Launcher. Go Launcher is customizable than other launchers. It has many themes and special widgets.
Look at this AIO package to customize GO Launcher:
http://www.modbile.com/applications/go-launcher-ex-aio-pack.html
Tsf shell is the best but it's a paid app.

sslauncher ... far far better than everything else. unfortunetly people dont know it/it has too much options to be easily customised...
Depends on the purpose. I use the stock launcher so that I can use SE widgets. For light weight launcher, LauncherPro (GB) or Apex (ICS) is the best. And for lots of themes and show off, Go Launcher and TSF. Now you decide!

Use espier launcher for ios look. I used for a few days n thought it was good. If you like ios more I suggest this to you. I reverted back to stock launcher as I like android (personal view)
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
Nova launcher is the best.. Apex is also good but not as smooth as Nova.. Try for yourself
Whats the big difference between the stock launcher and nova launcher that comes with aokp ms6. Been using the stock launcher and was nervous about loosing all my screens by switching to nova.
So whats the pros/cons and which do u prefer ???

IMHO.....Nova is far better.....
more customization options.....and tbh, its just a lot easier to use.
