Hey all I have two questions
1
So I recently bought a hd movie from the playstore which I'm able to watch in HD on my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7.. However when I tried to watch it on my computer (through the playstore website) I noticed it would only display at 480p..
Does anyone know if you can watch HD movies from the playstore on your computer? Or is it just HD on android devices..?
2
What resolution should I change movies off itunes and amazon mp4's to to work the best on the Nexus 7
I know the screen is 1280 X 800.. do I want to use that resolution for the actual movies?
Sorry I didn't know which forum to post this
Thank you

1. yes its a brand new computer . I can watch hd stuff on youtube or anything hd from netflix. Apparently it seems you cannot stream in HD from the Google Play store to your computer.. I just am looking for some confirmation
2. I'll try those settings
thank you

Did anyone ever get confirmation of this? I am really curious. I am also thinking about buying a chromebook, but only if it can play movies from google play in HD.
Sorry for bumping a somewhat old thread but just wanted to add that I'm also only able to watch HD movies purchased from the play store in 480p on my PC. I can otherwise watch them just fine in HD on my android device. Pretty dumb imo.

my Galaxy S II without a networked Blu-ray player?
I have
1. Legitimate copy of the movie
2. The activation code
3. A Blu-ray drive in my computer to access the files which seem is a 1.3GB .dc file
4. The Pocketblu app on my SGS2
My PS3 is jailbroke so I will not network it and my laptop runs Linux only so no actual proper Blu-ray playback software.
google blue ray video converter, then convert it to a suitable format for your device. eg - divx.
thats it

I can't even do that yet since the new version of BD+ used on the disc has not been broke yet. Which sucks since I wanted to copy the movie to my HTPC running XBMC, since I can't stand sitting through the opening warnings and Fox logos.
I can only get the digital copy to play on my computer. Won't play on my Infuse. I'll give my ipad a try tomorrow.

It's about to happen. I usually buy the Bluray+DVD version, but BB didn't have a set like that.
Doesn't it suck when stealing a film is easier than buying it.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't the purpose of including a "Digital" copy of the movie to be able to play it on the computer and portable devices?
Hi guys, just bought a Samsung smart TV and I wanted to know if and how could I stream movies from my phone to the TV Wireless.
I'm currently running Cm9. If there is an app required can someone upload it please.. thanks

You need all share to stream stuff on your smart tv. I don't know if all share works with CM9 though. All share is included in the stock Rom, so maybe if you ask somebody he/she will extract it for you do you can try it on CM9
it works on stock
Dont know about CM9, but with the stock rom, you just need to make sure your TV and Phone are connected to the same wifi and then you play your file on your phone. A symbol at the top of the stock player shows a 'choose your player' dialogues and then you choose your TV. Its starts playing either instantly or with a prompt on your tv, depending on your tv setup. I have mine set to auto accept. Works with photos and videos. I have tried with 1080p movies and it works without a problem.
Tv is LG LM670T. 3d smart. its gorgeous
I think most recently manufactured tv hs dlna.
Just search your tv model on Internet then you should be able to find out.
If so, then download bubbleupnp app from play store. You can either set up another server on your computer, which I do, using plex server, which you can download for free for your pc. Or you can use your phone as the server as well.
You can control all the streaming from your pc to your tv or phone to tv right from the bubbleupnp app. Very cool. If you install the extra bubbleupnp server on your computer, you can even stream remotely. Very easy to set up and very cool. Real cool.

If I understand well, you have two options: (1) stock Samsung rom and AllShare Cast (it needs Samsung framework, hence CM will not work) or (2) use DLNA (check if your TV supports it, but I guess so) and one of the apps mentioned above (which will also work in CM as it should support DLNA).
My PS3 and my smart tv pickup my windows computer over wifi enabling me to show pictures music and videos on it. Im assuming this is a windows feature that allows it to show up like that. Is there any type of app that can fake the tv I to thinking my phone is a wi dows media?
I may be using wrong technology terms here but hope what I am saying makes sense
Hey,
There are many apps for that in Google Play, the technology is called "DLNA", just look for that in Google Play.
I use imediashare for displaying videos and pictures on my Sony TV. But with this app you normally send your media to the TV, and not the other way round.
Just try it!
Greetings,
Phil

I'm away from my TV until after the new year (im with my parents for the holidays. I was trying to get more information regarding if I need to get extra stuff on my TV or what else is needed.
Worked awesome!! I downloaded Skifta
Thanks!
Went to download a full length movie on my phone from Flixster and noticed that I couldn't. A problem that I have never really ran in to before. It was the same with all of my movies. I went on to Flixster's Q&A page and they say this:
"Movie download is not currently supported on Google TV, Acer Iconia tablets and HTC phones on OS 4.x."
Has anyone found a work around to get Flixster UltraViolet movies to download on their HTC phones?
or
Is there another app where I can stream AND download my UltraViolet movies on to my HTC phone other than Flixster?
Thank you,
-DJ
I recently bought an MHL adapter for my Z2 tablet but I can't play any purchased Google Play movies or shows on my TV. I just get an on screen message on the tablet saying that "premium content cannot be played on this screen as it is not secure". I have a fairly modern (5 years old) LG television with HD capabilities so I am not sure why this is happening.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
It's built into the software. They want you to buy a Sony bluray or Sony TV to watch Sony unlimited movies on a big screen! One of the many reasons people avoid buying movies using proprietary systems. If it's a movie you bought using video unlimited you are sh!t out of luck I'm afraid. If it's a divx you have downloaded via torrents etc, try other apps like mx player, Mobo player or vlc player.
If your TV supports wifi direct you may want to try that, but I expect it will produce the same results.

Thanks for the reply.
It's just frustrating that Google claim you can watch anything bought through them via MHL on a TV, only for Sony to prevent it in their software.
Interestingly, I found today that I can play the content via the YouTube app instead which solves the problem I suppose but it still irritates me that I have to go around the houses to play things I have actually bought!

LOL! I think this could even be true, it would be typical for Sony! Reminds me of their locked down DVD and BD players and their malware-Audio-CDs
Fortunately you don't need to run Sony's OS at all - at least they let you unlock the bootloader. I'm running PAC ROM at the moment, and I don't miss any feature.

I assumed it was a video you had bought from Sony. If you bought it via Google play I'm sure there are loads of options documented on the Internet that let you play it however you want.

Yes, I'm sure you're right, it just baffles me why it won't play through the standard Google Play movies app but will do via YouTube!
Thanks again for taking the time to answer.

Thanks for the reply; at least I am not stuck with the Sony software if I should want to change it!
