How to encrypt SD memory card on ICS? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I want to encrypt my SD card (from sgs2).
Encryption method must be a password like in Nokia's mobile phones.
I want to secure my SD card when someone ( ) will try to remove my SD card from my SGS2 and connect it to him/her phone or other device.
Please help

"Settings" -> "Security" -> "Encrypt Device" and "Encrypt SD Card"
done.

I have only "Encrypt Device" option
I'm using Resurection Remix ICS ROM 2.6 & Syiah Kernel 3.3.3d

Must be the ROM and/or kernel you're using then, it's definitely there on stock ROMs.

So, Can I encrypt my SD card on Stock ROM and after that flash RR ICS ROM v2.6 & Syiah Kernel?
The encryption of SD card will be after that?

I don't think that would work, my guess is the custom ROM would only see the encrypted data and not be able to decrypt / read it properly.
If it could, they'd have kept the option in and wouldn't have removed it.

I must have an answer like Yes or Not because I must encrypt my SD card
If someone can help please post

if it's THAT important, flash to stock and stay on stock.
Encryption works perfectly fine there.

No, I am on RR 2.6 and I will be with it longer
So I have to find new way to encrypt sd card...

What about CM9 ROM ? It's works with CM9 ?

external sd card not recognized

Hi guys,
i have flashed a few miui v4 roms and i think they have messed up my external sd card settings or something along the line.
now i'm back on a gb rom, i see the sd card when the phone is up and running but if i try to flash from cwm 4.0.1.5 it doesn't see mmy external card ?
do you guys have any idea how to sort this out ? i want to say that this sd card has always worked fine on this device, it's just now that cwm doesn't see it.
thanks
Format the card & see if the phone recognises it. If not, faulty card given you're running stock & the card should be visible to the phone/working fine if the card is good/not faulty.

Have you tried mounting it in CWM?
yes, but it doesn't even give me the option to choose zip file from eternal sd card only from internal sd card

What version CWM recovery are you on?
I meant, if you go to the Mounts and Storage menu, does it have an option for mounting or unmounting /sdcard? If so, does it say mount, or unmount? If it says mount, then you have to mount it in order to use it.
4.0.1.5 and yes there is mount, i mount it, go back to choose zip from sd card.....and there's no internal card detected....if i boot in the system i can see it with file explorer or the likes...it's just cwm not seeing it

Hmm. I've not used 4.x.x.x in quite some time.
I'm using 5.0.2.7. For me, anything that refers to "sdcard" is the external card. "internal sdcard" is the built in flash memory. And as it turns out, I didn't even have to mount /sdcard to use either.
Sorry man...
How did you get 4.0.1.5 installed? Maybe it's time to upgrade.
yes probably, how do you actually upgrade this ??

Easiest way is to flash a kernel that comes with it. I'm using Siyah. Just search for it.

[ROM][GSM] CM10/AOKP NIGHTLY Builds by Crack-Team

So, I flashed this ROM with safestrap and now I cannot mount my SD card when in CM10, although it's functional when I go back to the non safe system. I already tried to partition it, and when I do it, says "done" but nothing happends, I installed Link2SD, but it doesn't find the SD card, so it's useless.
Does anyone know what I can do?

If its from CWM recovery then you may not be using install from external sd card .
Otherwise this post makes no sense .

i switched from cwm to twrp, when i try to install a rom from an ext sd card the rom just loads and loads but never does anything. It seems that i can only install roms from the internal storage....how would i change that option? do i need to go back to CWM and if so how would i change it back to where it would load roms from my ext sd card

I guess i'm not clear enough with my description, I can't load any roms from my sd card. When i try it just essentially freezes regardless of if im running either recovery. my question is what can be causing this and could it possibly have something to do with recovery....

[Q] Internal SD-Card doesn´t work

Hello,
I have a problem with the internal SD-Card of my Galaxy S2 in CyanFox 2.0.
When i want to use a application that access the internal SD-Card (for example the Camera), it says: "Please insert sd card."
In settings i can still see the card. There was a thread with a fix for the Galaxy S, can i use it with the S2. If not, what can i do?

To me it works perfectly. For Internal SD-card what do you mean? The memory 16GB? Because it works really well
P.S: However, to receive support on some ROMs you'll ask in the thread in question, so as not to create confusion in this section.

I would write in the main thread but I can´t cause i dont written enough posts...
What I have to say too ist that when i flash stock rom again the error still is there. Yes, I mean the 16GB internal memory.
I repeat: what do you mean with Internal SD-card? The main memory of the phone? ( of 16GB)?

As i wrote above: The main memory (of 16GB)
I do not know what to tell you. If you happened even before then there isn't a problem of CyanFox.
Try to format the memory, nothing you can do more.

Formatting to default worked, thanks. Maybe it would be a good idea to add automatic formatting to the flashable zip of the rom so this error can´t come?
Has always been the ultimate solution to this type of problem, since you delete all the files (or almost). However, I am happy that everything has resolved

[Q] About marshmallow feature, which formats sd card as internal storage.

If I format my sd card as internal storage on an android 6.0 based rom, and then I flash an android 5.1.1 based rom, will the sd card still be considered as internal storage?
PS: To thread moderator ,
Please help me to rephrase the heading of this thread in a better way
No it won't work. The way MM handles the card is different from the way LP handles it. I recommend holding off just a little longer

Wait for MM to become polished before running an experimental version unless you can contribute in the way of fixes and stuff like that.

Also, can it be used as normal SD card if I flash a lollipop based rom, even after formatting it as internal in marshmallow?
And,
If I again revert back to marshmallow(after lollipop), do I have to format it as internal again?

I'm not completely sure. I believe so.
if you flash MM ROM now just select 'use as external card'. If you format and use it as internal storage you can not use it in another phone or ROM. That's what the setup says when you boot MM for the first time.
There are guides that show how to partition your SD Card in TWRP in order to use it as a type of internal storage. This will work with Lollipop as well.
