Hy!
I have a trouble with my mini pro.
I bought a new microSD card (Kingston 8GB MicroSDHC Class 4) to my phone and when I try to record HD video, it's recording succesfully, but when I play the video, after a few seconds it freezes and display a message "This video cannot be play" (in Hungarian "A videó nem játszható le")
After I discover that some picture has similar probelm, the software doesn't save the whole picture, just a part of it, the remain space is filled with gray.
I format the memory card with the phone and I try the built-in Windows disk checker too, but it doesn't find anything!
Thank 4 your help!

I haven't tried a Kingston SD in my 2011 XMP, but I tried two different Kingston SDs in my old X10MP and couldn't get either one to run. I had to switch to Sandisk.

I've used the same Kingston 16gb class 4 since my I got my first android phone (x10 mini pro) and I've never had any problems. Format your card using "Mini Tool Partition Wizard Home ED" do a full format.
Steps for mini tool:
Make sure you do this using a sdcard reader not while sd is in the phone. They cost like a dollar get one from here http://www.dinodirect.com/micro-sd-card-reader.html?DDID=3520-616
1. Click on sdcard partition. Click delete and then apply.
2. Click create. Make it primary, fat32 and choose cluster size of 32kB
3. Click apply.
Make sure you backup your sdcard, and also I take no responsiblity for destroying your sdcard, phone or girlfriend (I swear she said she was single)
Cheers,
Evil.
Still no any result I've tried the two method, but the error message still came...

try to insert other card to check weather the problem is in card or in cam
Try copying random stuff to sd on pc to see if it's broken.
Try formating in FAT32, I have the same memory and no problems on my XMP
So the other little things:
when I use my old noname 2GB microSD card and I record HD video, it doesn't have any problem, so I think that the problem is with the memory card
but
at first time I copy a lot of music, video, etc. to the memory card and I can open anything from it. It's strange.
The memory card is formatted with FAT32 and 32kb cluster size
I found a read/write tester and it succesfully writes data and read it without error
The name of the program is h2testw
i'll be crazy @

can anyone please tell me how to format mmc card for xda...there's 3 options in win xp ...fat32....fat...ntfs....i cant format it from the xda , keep getting error code 31.....an error occurred while formatting the storage card folder...........thanks
Try formatting to Fat or Fat 32, however if the xda wont format it there may be a problem, make sure the "lock" switch is in the off position. I have had a problem with sd cards before, what I did was a sd backup from the xda, it then seemed to work ok, just deleted the backup and it worked ever after.
theres no lock switch on the mmc card...i've tried storage tools and flash format...the card must be buggered
i have a different problem, but im sure its connected to the formatting somehow! my card only fills up HALF way!
there is 40% more room availble, all scans prooves this, yet i cant add anything to it, im thinking, its the way its formated, was there a 'directory' limit to how many files that can exist in root?
and wasnt it related to the type of formatting? so my question is...
which format/cluster/ect... is best to fully use a 256 card? and 512/1G.?
Hello,
I actually started a topic last week concerning the same thing. i'm copying bits and pieces of it here; it also helps address your concern about which format to use and the sd card limitations. the first point below address which format you should use for the sd card; in this case use FAT. by the way, i use an sd-card reader (usb plugged) to format the card; it shows up as "removable disk e" in my laptop's window's explorer.
1) i'm using a 512 mb card; i was having some difficulty because the memory of the card would only go up to around 300. at first i thought there was a problem with the card itself so i had to constantly erase the contents to make mp3s, files, pics, mpegs, etc fit. then i stumbled upon the pc command for formatting disks; there were 3 options to format the sd card: FAT, NTFS and FAT32. when i used fat32; the behavior was the same and the memory usage would only go up to 300 max. when using ntfs; my xda2 refused to recognie the card (it wouldn't show up in the explorer app). when i formatted using FAT, everything was great. i can now use the sd card to it's limits and am no longer restricted to the 300-mb trouble i was having.
question: what's the difference in the 3 formats? i don't really know but obviously using FAT format was the best thing to do, but what's with the other formats?
2 cents worth.
cheers mates
robson
thanks Robson...but i have sent to back for a replacement....i tried it in my reader but the pc could not see the sd card...so i went out and bought a 128mb card while i wait for the new one to come....had no problems with the 128 worked straight away
thanks for the tip - from now on FAT is to be my solution
one more thing to add, I do have 256MB SD card on my XDA I and WM2003, ver 4.0.21
I can use my 256MB card to the full limit, the card has been formatted with CnetX format utility (www.cnetx.com) with FAT16 and FAT32 and apart from the fact that content has been missing from time to time, so I had to re-load the files ... when I locked the card, everything is fine now
regards,
monika
today I have tested sandisk 512MB SD card ....
I am allowed to fill it up to the full limit of roughly 484MB
I am curious about the other thing .... buying 512MB SD card for its prce it's almost a rip-off and you get only 484MB in return, I remember old times back with IPAQ + PCMCIA sleeve with inserted flash card 1280MB of sandisk - the size written on the back of the card WAS EXACTLY matching what PPC2002 was showing .... 1280MB
to me it seems like either different "disk geometry" or disk format - can anyone explain it to me pls
regards,
monika
hi,
i am using htc incredible s.some days ago i tried to make folders in my 8 gb kingston like for movies, songs etc.but to my surprise when i changed from disk drive option to charge only,i culdnot find any video or could play previous videos using mx video player.i again changed the option to disk drive and saw that there was no folder there and lost dir had all the files.any how i changed the card and bought 32gb kingston.but the problem is same.and once this problem araises,i cannot play any video file except which i have made from its camera.i am so depressed here that i am thinking of selling my phone
i am using the stock rom 2.3.5 gingerbread.plz help me out.
no help from any 1
i figured out the problem.but again a little confused.my sd caed doesnt seem to work properly.how to check and fix the sd card?
I think corrupted or "lost" files go in that folder. Did you unmount the card on the PC before switching from disk storage to charge only on android?

I think You may try to use formating tool from this site www.sdcard.org It usually helps with bigger SD cards.
Worth to try I think.
Connect your phone to your computer in mass storage mode, or preferably use a card reader and copy all your data from SD card to a backup folder. Format your SD card to FAT32 with 32kB cluster size. You can use the normal right click>format option in Windows/Linux/Mac. Uncheck Quick Format (in Windows) and let it do a full format. It'll take around 20-30 minutes for a 16GB card. This will fix any filesystem errors that are causing data loss. Once that's done, copy back all your data as it is back to the SD card. Now your card should work fine for a long time. SD cards tend to get corrupted over time, especially with Android, so doing this once in a while is helpful, whenever your card gives you any problem. I have had this same problem a few times and this fixed it for me.
I have data corruption on sd too but it happens often to data of any type/size and I believe that the corrupted data are moved to LOST.DIR They have no extension and cannot be opened or recognized. So I'm losing apps, photos, videos, anything. My device is an LG P500 and the sd card is a Transcend 4gb class 6.
What cluster size do you recommend for a 4 gb sd? 4kb is the default for its size and I believe that 32kb is too much for such a small card.
Hello there,
I just bought a 32GB Class 10 Samsung MicroSD card.
After inserting it, I made sure the phone sees it, and the computer sees it.
So I started transfering files to it...
Every time I try to transfer files to it, the cards sort of unmount, the computer stops seeing the External/Internal storage drivers info (0/0 KB and no files).
I realized I might be needing to format it, so I went to recovery and formatted the external card. Still no good...
If I don't try to transfer files, the internal sd card still works fine.
Am I formatting it wrong? or some other issue? Did I buy a faulty card?
Thanks!
P.S. Some info incase needed:
Using Galaxy S2 obviously, Resurrection Remix ICS 4.04
My PC is running XP SP3

If unsure about the quality of your SD card google for h2testw. It is a Windows test software you can use to test your SD card.
Tried formatting it... still no good.
And h2test tries to copy a file repeatedly and after some time it also gets stuck like I do manually...
I was running into the exact same issue as you with an SD card awhile back. Tried many, if not all of the suggestions listed here. Sometimes, the cards just die on you, especially at the most inopportune times...

Open CMD
Type format [letter_of_external_card]: /x
ex.
format E: /x
and wait.
Then format again (through Windows Explorer) with this settings:
FAT32
default allocation size
fast formatting checked
and share the results.

Failure of h2test is normally due to defective hardware.
For SD cards I do not really know but when it comes to USB sticks there are many around that are just cheap crap. You could for instance buy a 8GB stick that will happily accept 8GB of data but only store 4-6GB!. This is where h2test comes into play: it will not only write but also read and therefore check if the data written was really stored in the flash.

Class 10? That card might be just too fast for your hardware.
I'm using Sandisk 32GB Class 4 and never had any problems.
I have tried some Class 6 and Class 8 cards with very various results.
Only class 8 card I found correctly working in my device was Memorex, but it was only 4GB.
So I gave up on fast cards...
its fake or corrupt, did you buy the samsung off a retailer , you always test flash with h2testw before you use it, speed is not the issue,i got a class 10 32gb i had many 16,256,4gb fakes, only 3.7 gb usable droped down to 1kb write then windows couldnt read the storage so you reformat again.
Hello!
I have a Xperia Neo (Unlock BL with Suave Kernel v6 + Jelly Dream Z1), and 1 MicroSD Card SDHC 64Gb Class 10 (Buy in dx.com).
This MicroSD Card have a 62,5Gb and i tried make work it in my Neo. But, I faced some problems:
-MicroSD only formated in exFat or NTFS.
Question 1: Have one solution for Xperia Neo read and write this format of Filesystem?
-With Mini Tool Partition Software, i can formated to FAT32 (With 32k of Cluster). But when I take a photo, some photos are crop ou damaged. When I make a video, in sometime of playback of video stops and Android says "Cannot play this video. Invalid URL". When I tried write some file in SD Card, the ES File Manager return Failed.
Question 2: Its possible this card are some error or defect?
-If I make a 32gb FAT32 partition, this card works.
Question 3: Someone can help me?
Thanks!
Well, this card it may be defected. You should replace that card. But before you do, scan it ScanDisk. Yes, that's right. That one built in Windows. Check 2 boxes, click scan, go to make some coffee/tea/food, come back and tell me what happend after that.
If everything fine, try reformat it again using higher cluster size.Or use fat32format (google it, I'm a newbie, no links allowed right now for me). If ScanDisc detect a problem, well, try to replace card.
Im using right now 64GB microSd in my "chinese-crap-made" tablet with ICS 4.0.4 named OverMax card without any problem and i'm formatted that card using program mentioned before. Also my 32GB card in my Xperia still works, so you better check that card.
BUT WAIT !!
Some CM10.1 may NOT mount that type of card, even if you format that way what I'm told you.
FAT32 is a particular NOT a problem for Linux. Even when we use FUSE.
The problem only with FAT32 with names of files, but these are the cases related to the selected program. Very rarely.
microSDXC with a capacity of 64GB its a new standard and its designed to work with exFAT. This exFAT is NOT FULLY compatible with Cyanogenmod roms and CM-based, including some AOSP and may harm your devices.
Have you ever read that sentence below?
"* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards"
However, it is not a rule. Because bricking phone while flashing the zip or tar its hard and you have to REALLY "get lucky". But when you flash ROM, using exFAT it may damage your card itself or your data.
That's what happened to me...
I need to use chkdsk /f to recover my card.
Anyway - you better watch out using that card in android. Especially if you care about your data.
In tablet I don't care - Its just maps for my navi, some music and movies. And I have backup on PC. So that's why I dont care about data in my crappy tablet.

Try "Paragon exFAT, NTFS & HFS+" app on play store, it supports exfat. If it says your modules are not live, install shardul seth's USB OTG Helper app, run it and close it..this will make the modules live and then use the paragon app...Works for me all the time
I have rooted my z2 and the sd card is constantly mounting then unmounting. This is getting really annoying as when trying to watch movies or listen to music it just stops halfway through because it removes the card. has anyone else had this issue? Also i am unable to download the latest android update all it says is unable to verify.
Well if you unlocked your bootloader to root, then you won't be able to update your device through official ways anymore.
I have no idea about your SD card, try backing up its data on your pc and then reformat the card?
Yeah probably have to wait untill some custom roms come out
reformated the card exfat, however everytime trying to copy to the z2 it will copy for a while then it will disconnect meaning i have to start all over again. I dont think i have came across a tablet that is so bad at handling an sd card truly awfull. I hate to think how bad shooting video will be with the card continously mounting then unmounting. Ans no its not an issue with the card because it works perfectly in my pc and galaxy note 10.1

What if you reformat as fat32 with 4096 bytes cluster size, instead of exfat ?
Have you tried running an error check on the card ?

not possible to format fat32 in windows no more by default. And the issue is any videos etc on the card will be limited to 4gb file size. The Z2
natively uses exfat so why would it keep disconnecting? when i pop the card into my galaxy note 10.1 it doesnt do it so it is clearly an issue with the tablet, but will give it a try

Then I suppose your tablet has a faulty card reader unit. I'm sure you can get it replaced or repaired without any hassle.
I am on my second, stock romantic same issue on both unless it's in its case
tried fat32 and the same thing happens what an utter load of rubbish cant even handle a 64gig card. btw this i my second z2 same thng happened on the first before and after root. Thought i would try sony as never tried their tablet devices before and was impressed by the specs on paper, what a major mistake the worst tablet ive ever used. Im gonna return it and stick with samsung like i always have and ugrade to the new note 2014 edition. Sony Fail!
Well if it's the second one in a row with this issues, I think there must be something you're doing wrong? Or maybe your SD card specs just aren't supported? What are the full specs of your SD card? And is it one of those extreme high-speed cards for (video) cameras? And aside from reformatting it on a pc, did you ever try reformatting it on the tablet itself? This is an issue I've not read of about this tablet before so it kind of puzzles me that you already had it replaced once and immediately have the same issue again.
its a sandisk ultra micro sd card i have formated both on the pc and the tab. Also i formated it as fat32 but after a while being in the tablet it seems to convert it to exfat again. i have also tried different cluster sizes. I have tested this card in my samsung s3 samsung galaxy note 10.1 pc my laptop and have no problems at all so im at a loss

Only idea I have left is for you to try other micro sd cards and see if they cause the same issue.
I think it might be to to with the number of files the tab can handle if i have nothing on the card it doesnt seem to do it but the more files are added it starts to keep unmounting the card and constant rescanning. i have about 3000 mp3s on the card. Its not like its cheap memory its a sandisk 64gb class 10.
