EFS backup - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Hi community was wondering of anyone knows where I can find an app I can use the back up my EFS folder.
I'm on stock Rom with root and Busy box installed.
Thanks

I don't think anyone has found a way yet. Alot of people have lost it while flashing.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2

Doesn't exist yet, but many smart developers are looking into it. You can search and find a number of threads open on the subject.
Actually I lied: the efs folder you can backup, but it doesn't appear to contain the imei, assuming that's what you are actually asking for.

Just backup all the folders

Thanks guys. For now I've been flashing kernels do you think this is risky to do when it comes to losing IMEI?

This app does it but having issues getting it to recognize my T-mobile G3
I sent an email to him, maybe its for international

Help with old radio

I need a link that I can download the pg05img.zip file that my thunderbolt had before the new ruu update. I think it was .6 or .0023 or something . My phone ran so much smoother with it. Also I was running the perfect storm v1.3 and had a kernel from ziggy .(1.7) that I cannot find now from his website. I have been looking forever and finally I thought id ask you freaks. Jk . Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks . Oh and I searched every where to find it I'm just scared of losing in route because I rooted this phone the hard way having to install adb drivers and shell or whatever. Please help

I agree but it does get a tad irritating. I have been on the boards so long I have begun to ignore it. That link looks correct though.
Do I flash both of these files from hoot? Thanks for the help man some people take this stuff too seriously

Your right I sure did and only because they said I posted on the wrong thread. What are you the xda police?

Yes, put on root of sd card and flash through hboot.
I lost root. Can I get it back without having to do the terminal adb thing?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
The first one you put on here I flashed but my software still said 1.12.605.9
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
The baseband version is the radio, not the software number.
How did you lose root?
Hey man seriously there need to be more ppl on here like you. Huge help. I fn flashed a stock radio apparently that caused me to lose root. I got confused about your post I knew what the first one was but didn't understand why the link to the thread was there. I had been there so many times. I'm getting the numbers confused I think . Do I have to root all over again? Can I flash a new radio from hoot? Thanks again

[Question] Rooting

Just wondering if the Thunderbolt had to be activated before rooting or not.
Anyone know?
I plan on rooting one for my mother in law but she hasn't activated it yet for service.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Mine was rooted when I activated it. I ended up unrooting because there were problems with my activation unrelated to being rooted. Just makes sure you're on the latest firmware first.

No problem. The reason you should stick with the stock ruu is because if they need software info it will match. I doubt they will hut you never know.

I probably will just root it anyways. If something weird happens, I'll just unroot it and start over.

Yea. I remember on the Eris it wasn't possible to activate on anything but a stock rom. On this I'm not to sure so I would go with a sense 2.1 for sure.

I can say if you have verizon you might wanna wait on rooting even if you root but have a stock rom because i sat in their store over an hour and a half one day setting up a new sim card with a samsung stratosphere i rooted and it had the tweaked rom and stock rom and had to unroot cuz their computer couldnt connect to device right and finally after 8 new simcards i just unrooted used my backup of original factory firmware i took before flashing customized stock rom.... I know im a lil late on this but my advice is root it after its been activated...save yourself hassle and embarrassment knowing they are not supposed to help you when your device is rooted...

This is the reason I never go in the store. I've never had a problem activating a rooted phone. That is why I always suggest going back to a stock firmware though because cm roms and other aosp roms have trouble activating most of the time.

Need Radio / kernal?

Hey guys I've been trying to figure out why my rezound ( after root and s-off) has some crappy signal I have 1 bar and low data service almost everywhere but when I'm outside sometimes even then. From what I can collect its because I never installed a new radio or kernal. I'm not exactly sure what they are though or where to download them. ( sorry it may sound stupid but I'm lost at this point and have given up hope) I also saw something that said a radio is in a kernal. I have cyanogen mod 9 right now with the ics update and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction of a kernal/radio good for my phone. I'm computer savy installing it won't be an issue but I'm just lost as to where to get it. I appreciate the help on this.

This might sound stupid, but after taking the battery cover off to do the S-Off trick, did you make sure it was back on all the way? the antenna for the rezound is on the battery cover.
Check your antenna tabs and make sure there are none broken off or damaged.

If its legit, then you got a killer deal. The cheapest GN2 that I've seen was $350 but it had a cracked screen. I see some for $200-250, but I am sure those are scams. The next time you buy a Verizon phone, call *611 and verify the ESN status before handing over money or trading phones. A legit seller will not mind at all.

So for anyone that has sent theirs back to try and get on with the old software on the phone... If you took the time to search there many posts of ppl sending back and getting phones with MDK, also those with new OTA, so like I said, it's a crap shoot and it's 50/50.. Cant hurt to try, though
