FunkySandwich-3D [ROM] hangs on first boot - HTC EVO 3D

I just bought an HTC Evo 3D, unlocked it using the HTC website, flashed CWM and performed a nand backup, then flashed the custom rom ZIP of FunkySandwich-3D to it; all went perfectly. But on the first boot its now been hanging on the HTC screen for over 10 minutes.
What could be the problem?

2 tips
1) place this tread in Q&A
2) flash the boot.img via fastboot flash boot boot.img
(you can get the boot.img from the zip )

Are you s-off? If not, there's your problem, do the wire trick... takes 10 minutes.

Help! Stuck in bootloop-unable to recover with nandroid backup

Alright so let me be concise.
I have a rooted, S-ON, HBOOT 1.50 Evo 3D. I had the thing rooted for about a month and decided it was time to check out a ROM. I flashed the Android Revolution HD 1.1.1 ROM with TWRP 1.0.3 and found that I didn't have Wi-Fi or 4G. Unacceptable, so I tried flashing Ziggy's kernel (again with TWRP) a couple of times and got an asset error. I tried RCMIX EVO 3D Kernel and got the same error.
I then reflashed the Revolution HD 1.1.1 ROM after clearing it again and attempted to flash ziggy's kernel. Again error, but then, RCMIX flashed correctly! Hoorah!
Or so I thought.
This is when the device entered the "bootloop". When I restarted the white HTC screen appeared for about 30 seconds and then the phone would shut off for about five seconds, then restart again with the same HTC screen. When shut down I can enter the bootloader by pressing the volume and power down button.
No worries though, right? I have two backups! So I go back into recovery and attempt to use my most recent nandroid backup. Restore Naowz says it was successful but when I boot again I have the bootloop still going. I wipe again and try a different backup, same thing. I tried a multitude of different things after this in an attempt to "learn something" about my device. This included a factory reset through TWRP (didn't work), wipes then attempts to flash a new ROM (cyanogen), and a combination of things that didn't produce fruits.
Any ideas or help would be so ****ing appreciated as I have run out of ideas.
Get the kernel from the nandroid (boot.img)
Download the HTC fastboot drivers (google them)
Download ADB and fastboot files (google them)
navigate to adb and fastboot file directory
Put the kernel (boot.img) into the directory
Type 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'
Wait for the kernel to flash
go to recovery
restore from nandroid (or preferred you flash the ROM you used in the nandroid. Remove the boot.img from the ROM zip)
Successfully boot!
well first off, you are using FASTBOOT to boot into recovery, correct? You arent just booting into recovery and trying to flash from there are you? If so, then thats the problem.
Follow steps from post above mine and that should help. Or look for HTCEvoHacks guide to flashing with hboot 1.50 and read up.
Thanks for the replies, I already have adb, fastboot files and fastboot drivers installed so this should be even easier. I will do this all when I get home. Thanks for the guidance and help. Super appreciated.
have the same problem, made the same mistakes.......must be a common 3D noob virus. gotta go back to do a lil more reading

LeeDroid Boot Stuck

I have Flashed LeeDroids newest Rom to my GSM from Mwakious,Using Rom Manager i created a full backup before the Flash Process
The Installer had said that flashing was successful,I let the Phone reboot
It Took about 20 to 25 minutes, thats when i knew something was wrong,Understanding there is a problem i took out the battery wanting to to wipe and use the backup i created,(didnt install the animations or boot sound),i loaded up the Bootloader and went into Clockwork, when i choose something i get stuck on the Rom manager logo ???.
Whats the safest way for me to be able to wipe and reinstall the ROM
*update* i flashed the boot.img out LeeDroid, now my phone contentiously plays the htc boot animation*
First, don't use Rom Manager, just backup, wipe, and flash in clockwork.
Second, did you flash the correct radios/firmware/kernel for that rom?
Third, did you fully wipe? Even if you selected it in Rom Manager, it likely didnt work, hence see number 1.

I had the same problem with LeeDriod, stuck on HTC logo. try to RUU with the correct file. you will be stocked. but before RUUing you have to relock your bootloader by typing "fastboot oem lock" then RUU
I had this problem for a week and I thought my phone is dead and I had to trash it but after RUUing I am back to stock lolz
I had used 4ext recovery thinking i would be able to wipe and install another Rom,i wiped everything but since, everytime i try to install a rom i get stuck at the htc logo in boot,i will have to painfully relock it and RUU,but which file ?

Depends on your location and carrier. Also, I think getting s-off will solve your bootloop problems.

help fixing amaze

Hello , thank you for reading this. I'm trying to fix my amaze, it's stuck on the HTC boot logo. Phone was running latest tmobile rom, i unlocked the bootloader and rooted it to remove some tmobile bloatware using bloat freezer. Well the phone kept having these weird problems so i looked to install a custom rom. I installed clockworkmod recovery and then put my downloaded rom which was in a ZIP file onto the sd card. I booted into recovery, made a backup, then wiped data, then wiped dalvick cache or w/e it's called. wiped partition, then installed the ROM. the initial setup went good, phone said successful boot but when i restart it stays on the boot logo. So after some reading it looks like i didn't flash the kernel. So i found the boot.img file in the rom zip file but now i'm not sure what to do with it. I can boot into recovery but that is it. How can i flash the kernel with just clockwork recovery mod? Please help! I obviously would really like to get my phone up and running.
So as of now i have some custom roms on the SD card along with the OEM Ruby rom. I tried installing the tmobile stock ruby rom and it just says install aborted and it can not install. What should i do now? I juts want to get the phone working now. Thanks
Install 4ext recovery, it will flash the kernel for you, just make sure to turn on smartflash in the settings before you flash a rom if you're still S-On. If you're S-Off, then no need for smartflash

thank you. is there a way to install 4ext when the phone is just in recovery mode? my phone is just at the clockwork recovery main home screen right now. i can mount the drive and put files on the phone but that is it. thanks again
Okay so the tmobile stock rom is on the sd card. I renamed it to PH85IMG.zip and booted into hboot mode, it found the zip package and there was a loading bar. But then it went back to the boot screen. I tried restarting and it wouldn't move past the HTC quietly brilliant screen. I tried using the all in one tool kit to flash 4ext but it just keeps saying waiting for device. Pretty sure it wont work in clockworkmod recovery. Starting to get worried

Too flash the T-Mobile ruu you would have to relock your bootloader first.
As for flashing 4ext with the toolkit, when it said waiting device, were you in the bootloader, or did u select fastboot?

i think he was in recovery. ok so flash 4ext with the toolkit (i think you need to be in fastboot for the toolkit to flash it). then go to tools(in 4ext recovery) scroll down till the end and make sure smart flash is enabled (when it says enable smart flash means its not enabled and you need to click that, if it says disable smart flash then dont touch it you re good). then you can install a custom rom and it wont boot loop
hope this helps
hey guys thank you so much for taking time to help me! i got it flashed with 4ext and now using smartflash i'm able to flash roms onto it. so relieved to get it working, thanks again!

Help with rooting

Hi,
I'm running a Vodafone HOX+ with
Android: 4.1.1
Sense: 4+
Software: 1.14.161.18
HTC SDK API: 4.63
HTC Extension: Sense45_1
Kernel: 3.1.10-g262c6aa
Baseband: 3.1204.167D.31
Build: 1.14.161.18 CL122573
CID: VODAP102
Now I'd like to root it an run Evolution HD 5.1 on it.
Could someone point me at the most important threads in order to get me through the process.
I already loaded the ROM. Do I need to flash a Firmware as well?
What role does my CID play with regard to rooting?
I'm no complete noob. I rooted and flashed several ROMs to a defy+. Pain in the ass BTW.
Used Clockwork mod back then. Eversince I had Clockwork mod on it, flashing new ROMs was very easy from that point.
Thanks in Advance.

Probably the best one, Its all in one!
I followed the instructions. When I got to "Flash your kernel" I flashed the Kernel delivered by the Android HD Revolution 5.1 thread.
Now my phone won't boot. I just get the white screen with the htc logo. Is this a boot loop?
Pretty much. Did you flash a recovery after you unlocked your bootloader?
I accidentally flashed "your own recovery" first. Whatever that may be.
Then I flashed CWM (INTL Model) and after that once again flashed "Your own recovery".
Like the tool said I then put then Boot.IMG into the kernels folder an then ran "Flash kernel".
Now I can hold the off button and the screen goes black for like 3-5 seconds and then it goes on again (without my interaction).
Then it gets back to the htc logo.
Sometimes the red LED above the screen is constantly on. Sometimes it's constantly off.
Please help
I might be wrong but the kernel that comes with that rom is already in the zip file for that rom. So all you have to do if boot your phone into recovery mode and install from sd card the zip file and it should do everything for you unless you have a different kernel!
I went into recovery mode and was able to install the ROM. After it I said reboot and it's still not getting beyond the htc logo...
Do I need to wipe cache or something after installing ROM?
Update:
After installing ROM it's gotten worse. I'm not able to go into recovery mode any longer. I see Clockwordmod Recovery loading, then the phone reboots. Tried several other images, also TWRP, but it's also rebooting.
Somebody ?
I flashed the image that was in the zip after flashing the Rom for several times and then my phone suddenly worked. Thanks for the help

[Q] Cannot boot into Roms

Hey guys I am using a Sprint Htc Evo 3d. I had many problems with my phone and I had a bootloop occur. I fixed this by relocking my phone, then using the RUU. Then I unlocked my phone, then flashed the recovery. Now I am trying to flash any Roms such as Superuser, PG86img and Mean Rom 4.5. I tried every one of them and I restart the phone then it stays at the HTC logo and then boots into the HTC logo again and then goes into the 4ext recovery. Can anyone help?
Remember to enable the smartflash feature (In Tools section) before installing the rom
