when i flash new ROM my sgs2 after that my phone lock wont work.
please help me to fix this problem!
which rom r u using?
Go to Tablet setting if u r using Cyanogenmod and uncheck "Disable Lockscreen".
Hope this helps.
You may be missing your /efs/imei/keystr file. Do you have root? You'll need root to check if it's missing, and also to fix it if it is, indeed missing.

Hello guys
I need your help, i'm working on a mod and a friend said me to modify the file: settings.db located in data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
I only have to change "1" to "0" in the "secure" tab
for this I used Sql Lite browser for windows 7.
So i did it and saved the database, and then with root explorer replaced with the original settings.db but ....
I entered in a boot loop, why ?
I know for sure the "0" is a secure value, because used in a stock old rom
Why bootloop so? Have I to changed permissions to file?
Can please help me to do it without a new bootloop?
Thanks
hello
please i need to know if to change the permissions like that of original file prevent me to enter in a boot loop.
Noone have never edited settings.db file and replaced it?
If i am in wrong section, please, move the thread in the correct one.
I've done it before to modify wifi timeout. Here's the instructions I used:

I bet you replaced the settings.db file with the edited version using ADB? If so you likely stamped the file with shell as the owner... This might have been the problem if the original file had different permissions / owner.

Down in its settings you will find two options: one to browse as root and another to mount the /system to read/write.

i did reboot opened google maps and it showed exactly where i was. And the problem that bothered me was me keeping gps turned off all the time only to find that it would turn itself on which I do not like. I want to disable it permanently because I don't think its nessecary for basic phone and web service. I dont feel that my movements should be tracked for any reason it's just weird! If I am correct the phone service is done through the wireless connection not gps?
Shouldn't u prefer changing ROM?
Problem solved and closed! The original instructions are correct & results are as originally claimed in first reply to the op. For some reason it didn't delete properly the first time,I fixed this by restoring my backup & re-attempting. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED
Well I could have helped, but I'm an optimus one user, so I don't know which one is a stable optimus v rom...asking an optimus v user will be better...

You're probably missing your /efs/imei/keystr file. Create this file containing "ON". You'll need root to do it.

First, do you have root?
If so, use a file explorer, like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer, go to the /efs/imei folder, create a new file called keystr, edit it to contain the word ON.

A quick question. How does one disable the CD ROM pop-up that appears when connecting the phone? I tried using the same code as on the original Incredible (##7764726), and while it does take me to the same feature editor and I can select CD ROM option and do "disable", it reverts to "enabled" immediately.
Thanks in advance!
PS If anyone knows how to move apps onto an external SD Card?

I do have that. Would you happen to have instructions how to get rid of it?
Thanks!
Don't have the phone in front of me right now, but i believe you navigate to \system\etc and cdrom.iso is in there, just delete it, or rename it (your choice).
If you don't have an app like rootexplorer you can also do it in TWRP's file manager. Just make sure you mount "system" first or you wont see the folder.

This worked for me:
Dial ##PROGRAM#
Press Call
Enter six zeros for the password
Go to Feature Settings
Disable CD ROM
Back out

hmmm ##PROGRAM# does nothing for me.
The ##PROGRAM## worked for me and gave me the menu, but no matter how many times i set the cdrom to disabled it never changes, just remains enabled.

I'm with void4ever. Dialing the ## code was the first thing I did, just like on old Inc. I see the menu, but the change to CD ROM setting does not stick. It reverts to Enabled as soon as I hit OK on the selector...
you go to system/etc/ and remove (or re-name to .bak) CDROM.ISO

yeah just long press the file and chose "move to" it will ask if you want to replace the existing filt (make sure your file is named SystemUI.apk exactly) select ok/yes and it will do the rest. to change permissions long press the systemui.apk and go to properties. select change permissions and check the first 2 boxes in the first row and only the first box in the the other rows. then when you back out it will start the force close or reboot.
edit: when you select "move to" then navigate to the system>app folder and hit okay then youll be prompted to replace the existing file
also dont be sorry about asking questions. thats how you learn. i for one understand not wanting to bork your phone so, although i dont know a whole lot ill be glad to help anyway i can, you can PM me if you wish.
