S-ON Tampered - HTC Rezound

I am running an ICS Build with S/ON. BootLoader says S/ON Tampered. Is there a way to return the phone back to the factory default? I think if I ran the S-OFF process, I could do it, but is there a way to go back to square one from where I am?

It will always say tampered no matter what you do now

I'll be that guy.

not unless you have the hboot that says on when off and off when its really on.. or something like that, i dont have it, only some devs i guess have it. or just someone bullshitting.

No, not from where you are now.

The tampered just means you have a custom recovery. He could re-lock and RUU and it would go away. It will, however, always say "unlocked" if you stay s-on.

Actually it won't. It says tampered due installing a custom recovery. If you RUU the stock recovery back then it looses "tampered". You can then relock your bootloader, but it will then display "relocked" in the hboot menu.
Edit: Didn't read that last post before posting. My bad.

I sincerely apologize for posting in the incorrect area. Thanks for your response(s). There are tons of posts about the subject but I couldn't find anything regarding my specific concern. I'll be more mindful of the rules going forward.
Thanks

Ahh right, re-locked... Now that we've got all that cleared up, time to move this thread up out of the dev section

The whole faking the S-State is quite easy to do actually. A tool came out not too long ago from which you can edit your H-Boot. It was on the XDA portal a little while ago. I'm on my phone but ill edit this when I find the post.
EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776900 <---- here's the link to the bootloader customization thread.

I updated my phone like an idiot, lost root, and now I want root again.
I'm not stupid enough to do the HTC unlock though.
Yeah just hold off for now.
I'm shocked that quite a few of you did this update before checking here to see if it was ok. Knowing how our brand of "freedom" is frowned upon.

Is your hboot still S-off? If so, youre probably able to reflash recovery and regain root

You just need to follow the "UNROOT" instructions which will roll your Hboot back and then run Revolution again.... (*Or at least thats what I understand from all the reading I have done.) The method they used to get us permanent NAND unlock seems to truly be permanent so you just have to use the HTC Bootloader unlock, then use that to roll the HBOOT back in order to use Revolutionary.
*I have not done this and never will have to but this is my understanding. As always YMMV and if you BRICK IT,well, you already BOUGHT IT.

Hit up that guy who posted that reply. I am pretty sure he did it and redid it a couple times. (*I think)
FORGET IT! That guy actually still had his S-off from Revolutionary and DID NOT take the OTA which is how your NAND was relocked. For now, either sit tight and wait, again, for Rev and Unrevoked to hopefully cook something up or use the HTC method and enjoy half root.
Sorry bud....
I hope so... I was chatting yesterday with them at their IRC channel and they were saying it may not happen....
I am sitting tight devs here do wonders

Highly doubt it will be 1.50.000
I had a complete stock 3D with OTA, HBoot 1.5, HTCdev Unlocked, S-ON (still)...
Thought I was screwed when I wanted to root but follow Zedomax's instructions in the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1225974
I'm successfully running Cho's rom from MikMik. Downside is you have to use CWM but it still works!!!
Easiest root I've ever done!!
But you still have to do HTCs method I'm waiting so I don't have to

only if you downgrade your hboot to 2.10 or 2.11, and to do that you must be aware of what else you have to do in order for that to function correctly with the rom you're using and radios installed on your phone. It may or may not be worth the effort, depending on your comfort level.

so, i just flashed the ics ruu, and now my hboot says tampered. should i worry, how do i fix it if it is an issue
I'm assuming your unlocked, even if you relock it will say relocked, tampered cones from having a custom recovery and ics. I have a stealth hboot it requires s-off but will make it look stock for warranty issues.

You got off easy. Sometimes it can get a little nasty in here when you ask an already answered question.
Everyone must still be happy about S-Off or the new leak or something.

returning to stock

I got a droid dna recently and I was thinking about rooting. The only thing that is holding me back is whether despite the lack of s-off, is it worth voiding warranty. Anyhow, I was wondering whether it is possible to bring the dna completely back to stock after rooting it just in case something goes wrong (Im planning on using the all in one tool kit for the root)
I believe it will still say relocked as opposed to locked.
And there's a toolkit for jcases method?

So basically if i were to send this thing in for warranty, there is a high probability they wont notice the "relock"? Hmmm i might root it then

They won't notice at all. Sent so many phones in relocked, unlocked, even one rooted. Counting my blessings though everyday.

They don't check. They make sure it doesn't have any extensive damage then completely reflash the phone.

The change isn't permanent as far as I know. You should be able to re-lock it with fastboot oem lock.

I want to make sure I do this right... I need to send my phone back to HTC

Can anyone link me the correct tutorial (I found several) for removing the tampered and unlocked tags from the boot loader? I need to send my phone back to HTC because my battery only lasts a couple hours now..
Thanks.
