(Tmobile) Tapatalk 2 crashing - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this issue but every time I reply to a thread on any forum, tt2 crashes. Any one else getting this? I sent in a report to Tapatalk.

i have problems with that app getting laggy. just that app.
i fc then restart and it's fine.

It happens with my Sammy 3 too
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

I have that issue too on my Sprint Galaxy S III.
|Trolling with a smile|

I have started to get this issue with my Verizon Galaxy S3 as well. Never had it on my Droid 2 Global running CyanogenMod 9, and my usage patterns are pretty much the same, I'd think.

Well I'm glad it's not just my configuration. Hopefully TT fixes it soon its very annoying.
.. via SGH-T999 by TT2

I'm on stock so it really shouldn't be happening.
|Trolling with a smile|

Same just rooted.
.. via SGH-T999 by TT2

The app is just ****ty. Mine crashes all the time and lags. I wish there was a mobile version of the xda site cuz I hate this stupid app.

I was getting bad lag on the XDA Premium App and Tapatalk 2 (Sprint, stock rooted)
I ended up using the V6 Supercharger (Google it if you don't know what it is) and it's working a lot better (using 1000HP settings)
You can use Guide The dev of V6 posted to modify your services.jar and it'll work
I posted a modified services.jar for Sprint users only here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29038135
So far Tapatalk and Xda apps haven't crashed or lagged since applying those 1000HP settings

Same here, sprint sg3

Same here. Crashes often and is very laggy and jumpy most of time.
Sent str8 from my half eaten Banilla Ice Cream Samich

Mine can be laggy but very rarely. It has never crashed though. I know I just got an update this morning for Tapatalk 2.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

Mine recently started doing the choppy scrolling, not sure why. The update did not fix it.
I'm wondering if it's just specific to our device.

They just updated it. Testing to see if it's fixed.

It's fixed!

I tried both these apps on ics they both were very choppy, had to switch back to gb. Anyone else run into this do we just have to wait for the devs to update for this device on ics or is anyone successfully running ics with these apps?

I am, used GrooveIP for around two hours today and not a single stutter. Everything worked as perfect as when I ran GB on my LG G2x.

No, on the Galaxy Nexus, but I was making it clear that the issue isn't ICS compatibility.

Screen still redrawing

So after the update my screen is still redrawing from tike to time. Anyone else having this too?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Yup, get this from time to time. Doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to as and when it happens, but it does occasionally redraw. It's a weird one, hopefully it'll be sorted relatively soon!

Updated to what?
After updating to LF2 my redraws reduced drastically and ever since I started using Apex launcher, they've disappeared completely....

It still redraws for me with Apex.
This can only be addressed by optimising apps to use less RAM. This is an inherent problem on any device without sufficient RAM.

In the beginning after the update it seemed to be gone. I still get it though occasionally when play a game like Nova or when play a 720P flash video in the internet.

Saw a vid on youtube and there were some commenters saying it´s still present. Guess It´s just not totally gone yet.
yeah, still have this issue and it's really annoying... Many were saying S2 does not have this issue, so why do we have this on S3? Good QA from Samsung for their most expensive smartphone!

I thought it was related to root but I've had these hot reboots even before rooting so it's not just root. Most likely an app.

Will take a while to hunt down the app but anybody else have 'LinkedIn' app installed? It just hot rebooted while launching that app from a fresh restart - quickest hot reboot I've ever seen.
It might not be that app but then I went to the Play Store page and there are tons of 1 star reviews because the last update failed on people's phones - more interestingly the most recent comment is from a GS2 user who says latest update reboots his phone.
I've uninstalled it and I doubt I can be that lucky that it's that app and I find it so quickly but crossing my fingers.
Mine rebooted after I opened the Navigation app.
Mine is random, many different apps

Mine happened again. I've now uninstalled BetterBatteryStats. I'm going to start uninstalling stuff that uses root to roll that out. I've had these issues on stock but it happened rarely, lately it's been happening very frequently so something is going on.

I've had the same on mine. I rooted mine day 1, so no idea if it would have done it without root. I've defrosted everything in TB and still no luck.

Well I'm tired of the random hot reboots! Some people say it happened to them before rooting, but I don't believe it happened to me until I rooted and installed CWM touch......so I'm going back to stock to start all over again so I can try to narrow down the issue. I'll report back on my progress as it becomes available.

Happening often to me. The search continues. I've now uninstalled adfree. I'm positive this is an app since I had it occur on stock after two weeks of using the phone and installing crap.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
I had the same problem on my previous Captivate and am having it now on the GS III; no rhyme or reason to the reboots that I can see.
I still have heat problem but I played w/ different settings to see what it is.... I had att s3 which got really really hot... So returned it for Verizon s3. Verizon is better but learned that the data (lte/s3) makes it really hot and battery drain. Also the screen, of course.
If you're rooted then go get Phone info and disable lte. I tried CDMA auto for Verizon and it got much better... But at lowered download speed. I change it when I speed the speed... Doesn't require reboot so it's easy to change.
U can also under clock using setCPU.
I don't need it to be fast normally except when playing games... So just have it at 384min and 1024max... I find this helps allot w/ heat as well... U can try and find your setting that's acceptable speed and heat.
Just sharing my experience here.... So good luck.

Happens here too with the T-Mobile GS3. I think they rushed their fabrication process to deliver a high volume and fubared a few hardwarewise. I've even had it lockup/freeze once when not even in the OS but just in the recovery menu's. But yeah, the usual is a totally random unpredictable hot reboot throwing out my resident programs, homescreen, ect. Starts with the screen being frozen and not accepting input, then a short vibration, then back to homescreen reloading and all regular apps and widges that are supposed to run at boot load again. It's as if there's a micro static short or something. Anyway, I'm sick of problem solving and looking through logcats. Going back in for warranty. This is a dream phone except for this ultra annoying bug that it seems not many people have.

Happened to me once or twice (that I noticed) in the two weeks before I rooted (stock UCALEM), and a few more times after. It's just TouchPiz being pizzy. Maybe someone can catch the logcat, but there's nothing we can do about it (except install a better ROM )
How would anyone be able to diagnose this BS
"OK. My phone is hot. And it randomly reboots".
"Crap - u r out of luck buddy. Go change ur damn phone".
Provide ur phone model, ROM version, apps installed. Check ur battery stats.
As a solution - flash any custom ROM which removes bloatware.

While the ford sync is obnoxiously buggy, I haven't had any problem with bluetooth music with my note or my brother's SG3. I do find it annoying having to back out and re look at the entertainment menu to see the phone as an option.
No problems here either. I have a 2011 Limited Escape. I'm not sure what version of SYNC software is running because there's not a whole lot of navigation I can do in its menus/interfaces.
I'm not sure how I can get the text message functionality working but apart from that, everything works for me. What problems are you having?
Basically I can only play audio through Bluetooth for a little over 30 minutes at a time before the phone freezes and reboots. When I use cm9 it has never restarted.

Ford tech here, try a master reset (disconnect the battery for five minutes or pull the apim fuse), delete and repair phone.

No issues here... Stock ICS 2011 GT 5.0 and using Ford Sync-
Reverted back from JB too many issues...:good:
Thanks for the replies, I tried a master reset through the sync dashboard and it still froze up after a half hour of music through the phone. Would pulling the fuse be any different? Thanks again!

Tried a master reset and it still froze up and rebooted on me. Should I try installing the odexed version of the stock ICS Rom? I don't understand why my Bluetooth world work flawlessly on cm9 but not stock. Thanks again
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, the master reset through SYNC is more like a soft reset, disconnecting the battery or pulling the fuse will restore her back to stock. keep in mind after the fuse pull, itll a take a couple of minutes before she responds. just curious what kind of sync/car?

Facebook is bypassing the Play store for updates now, but it never actually updated for me either.
As a note, I got rid of the message by holding it down and going to App Info and then Clear Data. It hasn't started again since. Be careful not to disable it (the Download Manager), as it will cause a lot of problems on your device, especially at boot and when accessing the Google Play Store from your device!!!
I actually went in downloads then to other downloads then trashed it and problem solved

Had this for a couple days. Googled it and people said to stop downloads in app manager. Did that and it would go away for a bit and just come back.
Then last night I got a message saying a Facebook update was ready to be installed or something. So I installed it and now no more message.
Anyone that keeps getting that notification want to check what version of Facebook you have? My "new" version is 2.2.1-g2.
Just curious if there's really a difference.
