Looks like a broken "app group" icon (which got covered by the widget).
At least my N7 paired to the Q has no such icon.

My Nexus 7 doesn't have it either, it's just on my Galaxy Nexus....
Well it was until I rebooted, now it's not there anymore. It was similar to the "app folder" icon, except it has a blue outline (like the LED ring on the Nexus Q)... and when you are in the screen to place a widget, the blue outline swirled around the dark circle (like the nexus q does..) I'm pretty sure it's wasn't some kind of broken UI element.. I'm on a completely stock rom, JRO03C.
*shrugs* I tried pairing two GNs to the Q (one is 4.1, other 4.1.1, both stock) neither showed the icon.

is that a serious question?
I use it to change brightness and enable/disable bluetooth when getting into my car.
oops double post.
You do know all of that is available in the drop down tray. Including brightness. Just slide your finger across the tray left and right

not if it's on auto
plus, why not use it.
Maybe the OP doesn't feel like sliding down the notification bar.
To turn on BT I can
1) Hit the button on the power widget on my home screen
or
2) slide down notificiation, hit the BT icon, which opens up the BT settings, click enable BT... then hit back to return to my homescreen.
^ apologies, it just doesn't seem "simple clean" to me.....
"simple clean" is referring to the wallpaper... not the widgets/apps setup
eww, toooo many "samsung" on this phone already. =P
I kind of like it.
+1 to frankencat.
I love the samsung aspect to this phone.

Hi there people of XDA
So I asked about this error over in a device forum here and no one knew really what was wrong and I figured it was just the phone but now I have a new one and it's still doing it :\
Anyway what is happening is this when an app needs an update and the play store shows the notification at the top of the screen it doesn't say the apps name it says something along the lines of amp&_ and a few more random characters instead of the name but when you toggle down the notification bar everything is displayed normally.
This happened on my old Xperia Play running ICS and JB ROMS and now I have an HTC Sensation with a custom jelly bean ROM and it's happening on that swell :\
Just want to know if anyone knows why this is happening
I hope this isn't frowned apon but I managed to get a screen shot as I said this happened on 2 phones so I'm honestly stumpted

as soon as you pull down the notification bar it's displayed normally. it's when it first pops up this happens. this hppens for every app that needs an update when the notification pops up
I am positively shocked this is not a larger issue. With the removal of the always listening options for Google Now this devices overall appeal has been greatly limited based kmy needs.
Does anyone in the community know why these features were removed or have any idea on if/when they will return?
with the newest version it's there if you put the widget on homescreen

I have everything up to date including google play services and have placed the widget on the home screen but am still only seeing 1 option. Which is to allow "OK Google" from the app.

That's not the same thing at all. For starters it takes a whole row of icons. Also it will only work when you are on that specific screen. It won't work if you have an app open and most importantly it doesn't work when the screen is off.
This certainly isn't a hardware limitation, but I think Samsung did this to get users to try the new (and greatly improved s voice). I bet their plan is to bring back Google always on detection in a later update after many people try out s voice.
Anyways in the meantime check out s voice, you might be pleasantly surprised.
I know..but all Samsung phones even nexus had have problems with that actual
This has been annoying me for a few weeks...
What is this icon on my notification bar?
I don't see it when at home - only when I'm in work (different city)!
I've searched android developer resources and tried a Google Image reverse lookup but have drawn a blank so far...
Xiaomi Pocophone F1.
Stock MIUI Global 10.2.1 on Android 9 PKQ1.180729.001
Any ideas???

Not sure if picture upload / link is working as I can't see it - possibly because I'm a new user!
Description - a solid oval shape on it's side - the 1st 10% of the left of the oval is transparent. The right side of the oval as a circle around it - the circle is open at the top where it would meet the oval again.
That probably makes no sense at all!

Hi,
Needing dark theme because of eyesight I've discovered theme park and found it very helpfull with one caveat at least, I can't change folder background color. I'm also using nova launcher but none of the 2 seems to do a thing.
Any idea ?
Thanks.

I'm still running Android 9, One UI 1.5 I think there was another color individual folder option but it won't run on my version. Lol, I refuse to upgrade as Pie runs too good.
The Good Lock app updates tend to lag the OS OS upgrade releases. A quaint Samsung tradition If that's the case Samsung will... eventually... fix it.
