Galaxy Nexus stock Camera for SGS2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've recently re-installed Ressurection Remix 2.6 and although I love the rom I was rather disappointed to see that the camera app has been replaced with Camera ICS from Play Store.
This version does not come with the real time 'funny face' video features which I had before.
Anyone know how I can go about getting that one back in my phone?
Thanks

Pocket Legends on SGS3

Do any fellow forum members play Pocket Legends on a SGS3?
I have massive issues with the game on mine at the minute where the game frequently freezes and kicks me back to my touch wiz home screen.
I've tried several custom jelly bean roms and a stock one and also ics roms and I still experience the same issues.
Has anyone else had similar issues, and do you have any work arounds?
Thanks in advance!

What do you mean? The game comes off the android market and updates are stored in the games cache which can be up to 30mb.
I don't think installing/downloading the apk from another source will make any difference...? Unless you know otherwise?

Ive downloaded it from other source not from the market and I dont have any problem. The only problem is when a new release is available it doesnt refreshes so you have to wait 1-2 days until someone makes that version cracked and then you have to just redownload.

Thanks in advance

I dont remember but if you google it im sure you will find some matches. I am using Omega v30 and cm10 with siyah kernel 1.7rc1 at the moment but always changing them.Last time I was playing with that game I used Omega v28 and Perseus or Siyah kernel.

[Q] [q] getting samsung stuff on cm10

Hey guys, Im a big android fan, I have a rooted galaxy s3, and I love the ROM CM10 as it gives me a stock android experience, however, i came back to the official firmware because there are some things that I just didnt like on CM10, the 3 principal are:
1) The contacts app
2) The messasing app
3) No SmartStay
SO I went back to the official firmware, but I backed up the CM10 gallery and camera (which are the JB ones) using Titanium Backup, and I was able to install them in the samsung firmware.
BUT MY PERFORMANCE WAS SO MUCH BETTER ON CM10, so my question is:
CAN I BACK UP THE SAMSUNG FIRMWARE APPS LIKE CONTACTS, MESSASING, SMARTSTAY, ETC, USING TITANIUM BACKUP, AND INSTALL THEM ON CM10? so I can have the native android experience, but with the apps from samsung that I like?, Im asking because I dont want to do all the installing of cm10 and wiping again, if im not going to be able to get these apps on it, I'd really appreciate your help guys. thanks in advance
no mate. those apps are Sammy framework based

Damn it, the only thing I don't like about cm10 is the messaging and the contacts, and if I could just replace them I would be happy :s

Google Now on Stock Rom.

Alright, following This Guide I got Google now working.
To summarize what I did
1. Root phone using the Korean Root method
2. I unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM using Project FreeGee
3. I booted into CWM and installed This zip.At the I was writing this guide, I freegee was on version 0.5
4. My phone restarted and froze up about twice before finally staying booted. It seems to have normalized now.
edit:Right now most things seem to work.
If anyone finds a better version of Google now, please let me know and post the how-to.
I didn't make the zips and all I have done is follow the instructions and write down my personal experience. I give full credit to the author of the original post for their instructions/work they did. However, since the LGOG doesn't need project Butter, Google Now is the main thing we are missing from 4.1 and it should help ease the wait for a stable AOSP ROM. If anyone has any issues let me know and I'll make a list.

THis is great news. Right now I'm pondering whether to get this phone or the Note II, and Google now (which I have on my Captivate running SlimBean 3.0) is the one thing I really cannot imagine giving up.
Question: when you say that Calendar/settings alamrs don't work, do you mean that they don't work at all, or that they don't show up in Google Now?
I was referring to not working in Google now. Although i did manage to set an alarm with it shortly after this post.
Also fwiw I had the captivate too. I try to stick with nexus hardware.

I couldn't get it to work.... Musta done something wrong...
OK, I can't get it to launch links for me after searching. Anyone else? I'm wondering if it's because I removed Chrome and the LG browser?
Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk 2
Edit: Works most of the time but I also have issues launching links. I still have chrome and the stock browser installed, it will launch them I just have to click on them multiple times. I'm also occasionally having issues exiting to the home screen using either the home button or the back button.
Links can be a little stubborn for me but, usually open.

Titanium backup.

Uninstall stock voice search with titanium backup or you will get problems with android keyboard. It makes it try use them both for voice typing. I'd assume it may be the cause of any and all problems.
Edit: scratch that... Since installing Google now I get all kinds of freezing reboots. Caca. Then again it just be saying f u to nova launcher. Clearing cashes fixes it until it happens again.
Has anyone had good luck with this?

working for me too, aside from the link clicking issues
One of the cards says there's an update available in the Play Store. When I go there it says my device is incompatible. Is there something we could tweak to the build.prop in order to get this update? Or will that mess things up due to the nature of how it was installed?

All 4.2.2 ROMs have bad camera support :(

Hey XDA. I'm making a thread about how horrific the camera is on 4.2.2. Snap chat/instagram/Facebook etc all crash when attempting to use the camera. Is there a fix for this or does it only work for 4.1.2?
Sent from my SGH-I717 using xda premium
My camera works fine takes pictures just fine your title is incorrect the problem is not in the camera but in those apps.

^^^ what he said, the included aosp 4.2.2 or cm camera work flawlessly,
3rd party apps are your issue
By support I meant 3rd party apps my bad haha is there a fix?
Sent from my SGH-I717 using xda premium
I haven't heard of one yet, I would think you'd have to find a dev who is interested in these apps i'm pretty sure Jamie isn't one and then log cat. I don't use any of these apps so I'm not really of any help just seen people talking about this. It may be a cm issue as I believe I remember some one saying. So maybe it will get fixed.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Camera accesses by 3rd Party apps now working with Jamie's 6/14 Build of PACman and UBER kernel. (Maybe just the ROM, but that was the combination that I tested Facebook & Airdroid on. (The camera in both apps locked up the phone under ParanoidKangdroid twelve days ago.)

New Google Search Success (Doubtful but why not ask)

From what I have seen on videos and read on various blogs and from people using early AOSP builds, the new Google Search is significantly improved - most importantly in terms of speed, which has always been my biggest gripe with it. So earlier I pretended like I still had a nexus and tried to install the new apk from the factory image over the one we all have, and predictably, it opened but would FC every time I tried to run a search. Anybody else tried? anybody havE any thoughts on how we might be able to make it work?

Running the new google launcher/search on my s4 now.
Yeah, just need to change language then change back. Also make sure you have the latest Play Services version installed.
See here, fix posted ... http://phandroid.com/2013/10/31/download-and-install-the-new-google-experience-launcher/
Still can't get it to work even with these steps. The launcher works fine, but it is a bit laggy
