I recently flashed Androwook 2.1 to my TFP. It was my first custom ROM put on here and I used TWRP. Installation went along with no problems. Since then, whenever an app appears to crash instead of getting the ICS notification that the app has crashed, instead my entire tablet shuts down. Furthermore, when attached to the keyboard dock and charging, I have come back to a crashed tablet twice in the past 24 hours. I am thinking it might be a battery heat issue but I do not know a normal range. On balanced mode (1.3 GHz) my battery temp is around 30C.
Also, my boot time is significantly longer than a stock (2+ mins).
I am running:
Cayenne heat kernel
All tweaks enabled
Stock boot animation
Stock launcher
If anyone has any input on why my tablet might be crashing all the time or if this is normal that would be great. It would be even better if someone had a solution.
Mine just reset in the middle of a longer Friendcaster post. Not happy.

I think crashing is a bit normal esp. When we're running lots of background apps... i still do have freezes, but not a big deal for me.
Try to reflash (dirty) without checking BRAVIA and sqlite vacuum.... dats what most pepz do in androwooks rom..

48 hours since dirty re-flash. Haven't crashed during normal use. Still have deep sleep when in dock but that sounds normal. Oh well, hopefully it will get fixed sometime. Other than that I love the speed of this ROM.
Just say no to bravia. Say yes to jalapeno. Wipe like u wipe ur arse.
I tried to flash androwook and it did but after the set up wizard its says set up stop working. Tried to do wipe factory and cache still no luck . Anybody can give any input what's goin on. Tried different rom and it was flashed with no errors.

Is your wifi staying on all the time, i.e. when it goes to sleep?
no def careful about that
Do you actually turn wifi off before putting it to sleep? I do, and have no complaints.

yes very careful about eh wifi thought there might be something else i can do
1 reinstall the ROM or
2 install a different ROM (stock or other).
I had no problems on CM7 with battery life.
Mine only seems to drop a few % a day when not used.

hmm, but you say it was happy before cm7 and then it changed... that's not the norm. i vote for re-install ( are we voting ? )
when you installed, did you do the ( critical ) steps of clearing the dalvik and cache ?
i vote reinstall and to have the kardashians put on some island
How stable is the cm10 18/04 ? I flashed the one before it and it would gave black screens and it would not let me download any music or documents from internet.

I,average about two to three BSODs every other day. When they occur they seem to cluster, so I get a few, stops happening, and everything runs smooth for the next few days. Other than that, this rom has been smooth as silk and stable as can be.

Taking the plunge with the sgt7 cm10 2012-10-08 ROM
I just finished installing the 2012-10-08 ROM, and wanted to report my experience so far.
My Nook Tablet was already rooted and running CM7. I have been waiting to make the move to JB once the stability of the various ROMs seemed to be improving, and the recent work seemed promising. Thus, I decided to dive on in.
Here are the steps I took:
1. Downloaded 08/10 ROM, JB gApps, and CWM as referenced in the OP. Moved them over to my SD card.
2. From Rom Manager on the NT, I booted into recovery and flashed the new CWM. Rebooted the tablet.
3. Booted back into recovery again, did a factory reset (format data/ and cache/), then formatted Dalvik cache as well.
4. Flashed the 08/10 ROM.
5. Flashed JB gapps.
6. Rebooted the tablet.
After a short while, the OS booted up. I connected to my local WiFi, and then I configured the tablet with my Google account info, installed necessary apps, etc.
Everything seemed to work very well until the screen automatically turned off after the tablet stood idle for a while. Pressing the N button or power button did not turn the screen back on. I assume that this is the dreaded "Sleep of Death" (SOD) I have heard so much about.
I held down the power button for 10 seconds or so, released it, then held the power button down until the tablet rebooted. I thought that maybe turning WiFi off before it slept might help, so I experimented a bit, and it did seem to work.
I'm home now, and the battery life of the ROM seems very nice so far. I am playing around again with WiFi left on before it sleeps, to see if I can reproduce the same problem, but so far it is waking back up and working just fine.
All in all, it is a very impressive ROM, and I am glad (so far) that I decided to take the plunge!
Bug with 4/10 version
hi,
i also want to report few bugs with version 4/10: before i went to bed, and charged my NT 16G. from the screen, it confirmed that the charging started. but next morning when i checked again, the battery is still at the same level.
this means that it doesnt really charge, even it said the charging was under-way.
i can confirm that the charge cable was properly connected to my NT, so this is a software bug i think.
Besides, it seems i have the SOD problems sometimes. i tried to reboot, but the power button didnt seem to work. finally, i removed the microSD card, and it seemed to help to reboot my NT. another problem???
thanks.
I think I have to revise my endorsement. The 4/10 rom without enhancements is a buttery smooth, very reliable, daily driver. BSODs are rare, wifi dropping rarely happens. The enhancement pack and the 8/10 rom do fix the wifi dropping and imprive battery performance. Unfortunately they also seem to break a fairn number of apps, including com2us, scrabble, and words with friends I also experienced video freezing. on youtube and netflix. Also memory use seemed higher and I had to frequently (4 or 5 x per day) run fix.permissions to prevent force.closings.on apps . That ended up being a deal breaker, I ended up reverting back to the 4/10, the enhancements ended up causing more headaches then they fixed.
Still, the 4/10 is easily the most stable, functional rom currently running on the tablet. Huge thanks to everyone.who worked on this.
Just a quick update on the 2012-10-08 ROM. Last night, I picked up my NT after having it sit for a couple hours, and pressed the "N" button to wake it back up. The screen turned on, and I briefly saw a notification message scroll up top that said something along the lines of, "SD card unexpectedly removed", and then the tablet rebooted.
I saw that someone else had a similar issue on the DEV thread, and just wanted to confirm that I, too, seem to be having the same problem.

I've found that manually disabling Wifi before sleeping prevents the sdcard issue. The I have no idea why they seem related but it works here on 04/10 that way.

Thanks for the confirmation of my suspicion. It seeps that disabling WiFi before sleeping also prevents the SOD issues, so I will just try to remember to do that when I use it.
I know this has been mentioned in a few threads already, but it made such a difference for me I felt as if it should be on the front page, at least for a bit.
After I reset and manually reinstalled my apps from the market it's like I bought a new tablet. No lag, no anr, stock browser performs almost like the browser on my beastly gaming pc, games all work with much better frame rates. Everything is just so SMOOTH. I can even use the thing like normal when installing huge games from the market and not even notice its multitasking. All this with no tweaks of any kind.
Obviously YMMV but I can't recommend a reset highly enough from my own experience.
I'm gonna factory reset once I can get root and back up my apps

Yeah I kind of wish I still had root, but to be honest apart from ad blocking it only really used it to apply much needed tweaks, which I don't seem to need ny more.
Also, I I read in another thread someone managed to restore root on JB after a reset, going to try that tonight and I'll report back.
Yeah, I was able to restore root (I was rooted from ICS before the upgrade and factory reset). I think if you are able to get a root prompt from adb shell you will be able to restore. I used the debugfs method, it gave me a number of error messages during the process but by the end I had root again.
Happy days

I lost root but it was worth it (lost root during the upgrade and couldn't get it back anyway). Non-rooted JB after the factory reset is far smoother than 4.03 with root. It is a good trade off and I'm assuming someone will figure out how to root again anyway.

Project Butter. Google it. Understand.
I'd say to play around with it more before giving your final verdict, that's why I Ended up with a custom rom
I've factory resetted plenty of times but browsing doesn't perform as fluid as my og razr
I second this - my experience was
ICS to JB = not bad
Factory reset JB via JB 3x but did not wait too long between each reset = Slower I/O scores via benchmarks
BUT
Factory reset via Volume down and power - loaded to Home screen (but not setting up anything) and waited 1 hour with screen turned on, WIFI off and performance.
Then setup = Faster I/O scores via benchmarks by about 10 secs and after 3 days I really think it is now faster than it was - ALL STOCK.
Can't wait for root method - as I would like to try some of the tweeks to see if I can put the PRIME just a little bit more...
Overall very happy - but I was before!

I'm aware of Butter man, but it wasn;t even close to buttery till I did the reset, it was more like fudge.
While I don't notice improvements in the responsiveness (it was already fine for me), doing a factory reset after JB update solved annoying FC of the stock gallery and the stock camera apps.

My prime is running so poorly. I get many FC and things are not smooth. Multi-tasking is impossible. Browsers take forever to launch and load previous tabs. I hate to start over... but I'm getting to the point where I think it's for the best. My butter is more like molasses on a cold Wyoming morning.
After the update to JB I have a lot of spontanious reboots.
Maybe I should try a factory reset....
I'm also considering doing a factory reset...
So just to be clear, I'm not rooted and from a data/application/settings loss perspective, what do I need to make sure I have backed up? All my apps / widgets will re-install upon reset I assume, but what about my settings and files?
when i hold the power+vol down, i see: RCK android usb data wipe. what am i suppose to do from there?
I factory reset my Prime a week or so before JB, and when I installed JB, there wasn't much installed. Is it still worth the factory reset?
I've installed plenty of apps and games, hate to have to reset and re install everything again. Does a factory reset make it like CM10 speeds on the HTC One X like this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_eFGpET3dc ?

I don't get it, aren't you able to root the device again after the JB update? Right now I am running rooted JB (rooted in ICS then OTA update).
I appreciate if anyone could help me out here since I am debating if I should factory reset or not, I really want to stay rooted. Mainly so i can use my ps3 controller.
I flash a lot. I also have noticed my CM10.1 running like total crap lately. I also went back to Sense about a week ago but came back to CM.
I have done this once before and had great success, and just did it again today and my phone is running super smooth.
1) Back up anything you care about (pics, music, docs, titanium backups, etc)
2) boot into recovery
3) FORMAT EVERYTHING.
4) Copy ROM to storage (might have to mount it)
5) Flash
I did not restore everything from TiBU, but installed most of my apps from the Play Store. I decided to install things as I needed them because I realized I don't use probably half of the apps I have backed up. I did about 20 apps from TiBU (no data).
Copy stuff back to your phone that you want to have on it...for me it was just pics and a few eBooks.
I know a factory reset and a flash would normally do the trick, but I think perhaps something got screwy when I went to the Sense ROM. Since did these steps this morning, my phone has not rebooted, crashed system ui, screen always wakes up, no proximity issues, and battery life is pretty good (stock CM kernel from Fly)
Edit: statement that proximity sensor issue did not occur has been revoked.
3)FORMAT EVERYTHING

I don't just wipe data and factory reset. I format the storage media and the system partition. If you have TwRP go to Wipe, advanced, check everything and wipe. Basically your phone is a clean slate.
I used to use AmonRa and I know you can do the same, but can't recall the actual steps.

First, backup all your files, including your SD Card.
@D8nkE posted these in the Infection thread
Boot into Amon Ra
Format data, system, cache Ext4 | Ext3 > Format all to ext3
Then Upgrade all to ext4

I have noticed a lot depends on what you are flashing and what you are doing with it. I use FlyHalf's CM build and kept getting myself into trouble with custom kernels. I have been running incredibly stable for about a week now on stock kernel with no tweaks. I do have Autokiller Memory Optimizer installed now however. Not sure if it's helping, but it definitely is not hurting.

So I've been on Infection 2.7 since Sunday. Formatted as instructed, installed very little apps, all from the play store. Didn't restore anything (including my Nova backup, which I did almost every time before this), and I kept the stock kernel (Funky 3.4) without making ANY changes to the settings.
I have noticed that it is much more stable, as I have only gotten 1 or 2 FCs since flashing...I used to get 2-3 per hour. I am still getting the "hot reboot" on manual wake though. The scenario is this: "Notification!", I press the power button, the soft keys light up but the screen stays black, a few seconds later I get the infamous spinning matrix android. To me, because it happens almost exclusively on wake, it has to be related to the kernel/governor and have something to do with it pulling out of deep sleep.
I am following the Infection, SenseXP and Funky AOSP threads, and will try each of the new ROMS/Kernel/Recovery combos this weekend and post some results as soon as I get something definitive.
As always, post if you have anything else I can try, but for anyone wondering if its worth formatting....it certainly appears to have made my phone alot more stable, so give it a shot.

Is there a way to prevent deep sleep? I know this would destroy battery life, but it might help determine if its related to waking from deep sleep. In the mean time, I'll bump the min to 432.

Yeah, I'm on RA, HIRO, and Infection 2.8.1 right now, so we'll see how it goes.
You don't want to disable deep sleep. At max you will only get 2hrs of battery also could even trigger thermal throttling. Try a sense ROM with my kernel version 3.4 and report back that's if 432 doesn't work out.
Also try switching to Br0kens vanilla aokp.

UPDATE
Increasing to 432 did not solve the problem, but then I thought that my screen brightness app Lux may have something to do with it. After disabling the app, I didnt have a single quick reboot in 2 or 3 days. Just re-installed it this morning and rebooted on my first wake. I did not have any reboots on the stock live wallpaper or a replacement wallpaper, but I was on a non-live wallpaper when I got the reboot from the app.
If I have any more issues, I'll try the Sense or Br0ken roms and report back.
OP: Sorry for the thread jack, and thanks again for the tip to wipe. That plus what I mentioned above has given me the most stable experience I've had since March!
Things were getting wonky with more than usual reboots, no matter what rom I loaded. So I backed up pics, formatted everything in recovery (all partitions and storage, flashed (Beanstalk) and treated the phone as if it were new. No app or data restores, etc.
Phone is running super solid without any issues, not a single blip.
It's like formatting a hard drive and reinstalling the OS and rebuilding from scratch.

First of all, my phone is running jellybomb version 2, freeza beastmode kernel 2.0 and cpu running at 2.7. I've never had problems before until one day I downloaded a file that had a virus, so I decided to do a restore using twrp. The restore failed and my phone and it got screwed, I've tried several methods to get it running again and I finally found the solution. I flashed the brickbug file and it was fixed. Now I noticed that sometimes when I restart the phone, it won't restart, it just powers off. There are also times when my phone just blacks out and freezes and I have to do a battery pull. There are also incidents where after boot up from a restart or battery pull, my touch screen won't respond. It's really weird. I dirty flashed to jellybomb version 2 from version 1, I doubt that's the issue since these problems started happening after I flashed brickbug to fix my phone. Anyone know what could be wrong or a fix? It's not a huge issue since my phone works fine most of the time, but it gets a bit annoying when the problem does happen. Last resort would be wipe absolutely everything and start over..

Honestly my phone does the same with occasional random reboots and lock ups requiring battery pulls (Even the power button-menu-power up didn't restart to twrp) and even then restarting doesn't usually go without a hitch. Even when I was running stock root my phone would get stuck at the yellow sprint screen from time to time and I'd have to go TWRP and wipe Dalvik and Cache, then Dalvik again to get it to reboot.. The only reason I didn't unroot was was because even when my phone was new and out of the box, stock it wouldn't reboot cleanly all the time.
It got a little better after the firmware updates but it still hasn't gone away entirely.
I do expect it to get cleared up eventually but for now just take it as a fact of life with this phone.

Yeah, I've been wiping dalvik and cache too, to get my phone back to normal at times too.

Sounds like its the beastmode kernel issues. Flash version 1.8 and see if that fixes your issues.
I would run the MJ4 tar via Odin to start totally fresh.
I am having a similar issue. my phone will just reboot on its own and freeze up a lot. i dont think its the kernel because it has been happening ever since i first installed the jellybomb rom and had a lite kernel installed. now switched to beast 2.3 and still having the same issues. im gonna flash 1.8 and see if it gets any better. but people are posting positive results on the 2.3 . dont know what to do. its frustrating

Before going through all that mess, toss on a stock kernel and see if your issues go away. You'll narrow down the issues right quick.

My phone has been doing this from the time i took it out of the box on October 4. It was ever worse then, so much so that I returned the phone exchanged it for a new one. The problems continued and I questioned my decision to upgrade to the Note 3 but then the firmware upgrades improved things a little.
I can tolerate the issues now and I do expect them to go away on future updates

I flashed 2.3 kernel and it seemed to fix most problems.. I just get Internet shutdowns here and there.. So far that's the only problem.

2.3 is the shiz, bro. I know some have issues with it, but for me it far exceeds even 1.8. Even with no overclocking, 1.8 would do odd stuff, like go to off when I'd selected restart (plugged in or not), &c. With 2.3, I've yet to run into any issues, the phone behaves as I've directed it. I overclock it using profiles in SetCPU, and the cores stay cool. With 1.8, no such luck.
As to Internet shutdowns, I have found that the browser plays a role in things. Having never used the stock browser, I switch mainly between boat browser and chrome, and both will occasionally freeze. Long back press to kill is my fallback.

what your describing
Your phones should run flawlessly all the time. I would take issue that when the phone starts acting buggy, it's just normal for this phone.....I disagree with that, there is a issue somewhere if you have these issues occasionally.
Just my 2 cents
Well it took my slack ass a couple weeks to flash the stock kernel due to my issues. and after a few days my phone hasnt randomly rebooted. So i take it my phone is not liking the BEAST right now? This is just some poopoo.
