Skyrocket root failed! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

This may be the wrong place but since my internet provider has went on vacation for the night, im putting it where ever i possibly can.
I rooted my skyrocket thru odin. everything looks fine. Used cwm to flash superuser.zip but titanium back up and busy box are both telling me that i am not rooted. Superuser app is installed but not asking permissions for anything.
I am running the latest android 4.0.4...could that be my problem? Thanks

absolutely the wrong place.....hell, you are in the wrong device forum.....

No, your problem is that you're in the wrong forum.

This bit of information should probably be made aware of before more of us lose our wives to trying to root our phones without the proper files.

Will guarantee you a one way ticket off XDA. Take that as a strongly worded hint...

Just rooted yesterday. Just worried cuz there is no unroot method to date. If there is an update, we may not be able to take it. Is it true that it might brick our rooted phone if we take an update?

I had problems restoring saved WiFi access point data on my Nexus S when going from Gingerbread to ICS. If you're up to the challenge, you can easily open the backup in a text editor. If you hadn't set the backups to be encrypted that is.
Then on the GS3, with WiFi off, copy and paste the values into the following file:
/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
You can use Root Explorer or something similar. If you run into any issues, just go ahead and delete the file. It'll get recreated automatically on reboot. Good luck!

I havent but its only because I really dont see a reason to at this point. As soon as there are some nice custom ROMs, Ill be hanging in the dev section as well. I just dont see the need to root for the sake of having root at this point.

Can you root the i717 Galaxy Note without a Computer?

I'm the proud owner of a Galaxy Note i717 but the limitations of gingerbread are driving me crazy....so the first thing I want to do is root and flash a different ROM problem is I'm without a computer ugh.
I came across a YouTube video showing how to root the other model without using a computer so I was wondering if anyone knew of a solution for the i717 model.
So is it possible to root the i717 galaxy note without a computer?
Help me out here guys any feedback is much appreciated....

I highly discourage trying anything other than what is posted in these threads...since it has been proven to best and most effective why of rooting and flashing...
in other words...You will need a computer and for a safety feature in case you soft brick or hard... you will have a need for a pc...computer.
do you have CWM on your device? like ranger stated below...no need to root to flash...

Honestly I would not attempt to flash without a pc handy...due to the saying
"ya never know"
Even though we have the same make/model devices....they are not the same... my GNote may not like a ROM as to yours might...like I trying explaining ... the computer being your safety net if something goes wrong....I would wait or find a friend that you can use a computer, but it is your call, it is your investment.
btw unless someone knows a way to put CWM on the device without a computer....I believe you will need a computer...
Since CWM is a custom kernel, you could flash it from the phone using the Mobile Odin app.
Edit: oops never mind -- you need to be rooted to use Mobile Odin. Sorry for the bad information.
I rooted one phone using the terminal emulator after downloading such and busy box to the SD card. But its harder than climbing Everest without oxygen typing those commands.

So I Bought a Galaxy note (i717) the charger port is messed up on the device. It will charge, but it wont allow any PC connectivity. I have searched google and xda for information how how to root this phone with out a PC (aka using an .apk like framaroot) and I can not find a viable solution. I have tried Z4Root and Framaroot and neither of them work. Do you know of any other ways to root my device with out a pc? If i dont need a Root to Flash Could you point me in the right direction to find that information I haven't put CWM on the device yet because I Cant Root so I cant MobileOdin ect.. you see the picture lol. Is it possible to use an Update.zip file? or use a formatted SDcard to flash it like I did to Flash NookColor1?

goomanager is down right now.
Just download and flash the normal way
Post #5 in the maintenance thread in their forums says the following:
"Sorry for the outage.
Long story short, during the expansion of our lustre fs, the metadata for all files got nuked. Unfortunately, this is not something we can recover from. We're going to be contacting all developers to get this looked into and get files back online as soon as possible for everyone."

Since day one when i downloaded Goomanager (i also reinstalled it) after i rooted my phone with stock everything i could not use the browse compatible roms menu. It would always show up as no roms availble.
Why is that? What am i missing?
I know a lot of people are telling me just to find a rom here and flash it, but im more concerned with why this is happening and what i can do to fix it.
any help?
Thanks everyone!
I'm showing five roms so I'm not sure why you're not seeing any.

Stock everything and just rooted using Mr.Robinson's method of no counter increases.

ya, i saw the xda search led me here so i figured i'd try first.
but it doesnt seem like much help in the other forums either, i think their answer is "dont use goomanager, dl from xda and flash"
i understand that goo may not be ideal, but i wanna isolate and troublshoot the issue.
i dont see a lot or any on the s3 side, i was hoping it was more generic of an issue......
do u have any ideas?

Hmm... if you head over to goo.im you'll see under the "Browse roms be device" list that there is no mention of the SGH-i747. I'm guessing there is no dev using Goo for their ROMs on your particular model.
EDIT: After doing more research I see mentions of downloading ROMs for your phone via GooManager.. I'll keep looking around. Very strange.
Very interesting........ but my version is pretty much at&t. Do you know if they have it?

Ok this is what I've gathered. i747(m) users appear to be using GooManager for installing TWRP/ROMs but downloading them elsewhere. After looking through Goo's list of devices I found the only GSIII listing to be for the International version (GT-i9300). AT&T (i747), T-Mobile (T999), Verizon (i535) and Sprint (L710) are not present in the list. Still strange but I don't think there is anyway around it, sorry!
Hmm I will have no issues if it applies to all not on list. But if they can access it. Then I'm back to square one.
Thanks for the find though! Very interesting.

I looked again, SGH-i747(m) is not in their list. But according to get.cm d2att is you're "codename" if you will. d2att is in the goo.im list. So your device is the d2att but now I'm back to not understanding why GooManager is showing no roms because clearly there are many. Maybe your build.prop needs d2att in it?
EDIT: And by "their list" I just mean the drop down box on their main page that says "Browse rom devices by:".
Hmmm that's what I'm afraid of.
Now I'm at a loss again.

What does your "ro.product.device" say in build.prop? That's the part that should read d2att. You can always change it, reboot, try GooManager and if it doesn't work just put it back.
Threads I've read keep mentioning you need to be on the latest CWM not sure how this directly effects the whole d2att. Wish I had a GSIII to play with to figure out this puzzle... lol

My question is, is there currently a one click root method for an sgs2 on sprint running ics 4.0.4? A friend of mine just got one and he wants me to root it for him like I did his evo a while back.

Need Help. Got New Cell

Ok, well I have a note 2 with verizon and had 4.1.1 and had it rooted. When then new ota update came, did it and phone went to crappers (a while back of course) So For the past month I been rooting my phone with 4.1.1 to make it "work" and phone started acting weird. Called verizon and received new phone yesterday with 4.1.2.
Now, I have been looking for ways to root it and found several, but when I try them, phone does not root.
Any help would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
