Problem with custom rom - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I have some questions:
1. When I try to flash ThGo2 v17.0, it freeze at Formatting SYSTEM. Why ? I have kCernel-CM9-v03.
2. Which kernel have a DroidGirl Animation ?
3. When I start Update Service, it says to me that phone already has latest available software installed.
And I have problem with my X10. I flash other kernels, but whatever I install, it stuck of logo :S What can I do ? When I try Update Service it says to me that phone already has latest available software installed.

If things get stuck at downloading its normally a problem at goods end not yours. Have you tried going to settings/manage applications/all applications/market and clean clear the cache and force close it and then rebooting to solve your problem. This works most of the time

Yes, i tried.
- Begin with my X10 in 2.0.2.A.0.24
- I installed first the baseband with your "Baseband 2.1.54, A beginners guide for x10I / x10a"
- BusyBox and xRecovery installed an works ok.
- Flash Beta4 with xRe3covery and all ok, except by this problem with market.
- Restore full backup and the Oficial ROM works ok, except again with market.
- Recovery with SE PC Companion, and all works except by Market. Curiosly... xRecovery doesn't work (Back key after Sony Ericson logo), it's possible that PC Companion erase it.
- I flash the ROM X10i_2_0_A_0_504_GLOBAL
- With SuperOneClick, i rooted again my X10
- With FlashTool, install BusyBox and xRecovery (by Advanced), but xRecovery don't load.
- At this moment, i have a X10 with:
Model: X10i
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband: 2.0.46
Kernel: 2.6.29 [email protected]#1
Build Number: 2.0.A.0.504
Without any posibility of install any app!!! My X10 return to a single Nokia 1100 state
You need to root your device with the flash tool and install xrecovery with it too and then go back to my guide

Same problem occurs with me...but solved after changing network operator. I have two sims, works fine on one and does't download on another. I think its network setting problem.

I have the same problem with the old market. To install anything you just have to wait, after a while you will see selected app downloading and installing. If it takes more then 4 minutes just cancel your download, start it again and wait. That's why i have to use new market.

I had the same problem, it's an issue of baseband. You just have to install new baseband (2.1.54) using flasher(not sure if it's the right name of this program). If you want to install new rom, you won't be able to recovery the old android 2.1 because the old baseband is not available on the internet. Think about that! Because it's akready to late for me

1) are you on the right baseband
2) have you done a full wipe through xrecovery -cache,dalvik,battery stats
3) have you installed busybox
4) have you even got xrecovery
And the list could go on. So look at what i said and check everything because if both those roms didnt work, you must be the problem not doing it right

Hello yes I installed busybox and xrecovery. I went into xrecovery by pressing the back button at the startscreen. I wiped my phone to factory setting. Wiped my cache, dalvik and battery stats. After that I installed a new rom through SD and I rebooted. But after 10 seconds it freezes and reboots.
Ive used my recovery to go back to fw 2.1 What am I doing wrong? The baseband (54) was right,
What's the ROM are you on? And what baseband? That will help us solve your problem.

You need baseband .54. Which you need flashtool to do so. You know how to do that right?
That's why it keeps rebooting.

it worked for me. I wiped my phone including Dalvik and battery. Thanks guys

going from 2.1 to factory 1.6(starting over)

i just recently got 2.1b firmware and im trying to start completely over and go back to 1.6. Then I plan to get the next modded rom to use. the troubble is because this new fw has a completely new baseband I cant do nothing with it. Ive tried to use Seus(older vserion) but it says i have the recent software. I tried to flash a different baseband on flash tool but that crashed and am fear of doing it again because I dont want my phone to turn into a paper weight. I googled my search and all I came up with was the firmware for 1.6 but not a detailed explanation on to to revert back.
Try flashtool latest. Try reinstalling seus n PC companion after uninstalling it properly
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
flash tool I tried with the baseband and service didnt work. The SEUS I had the most recnt version but it says i have the latest firmware and wont let me mess with the software
Restart your PC and try seus you should get repair option however it should be 2.1 but not 1.6(unless you're using us at&t)
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I tried pc companion and did repair and got a message saying I had the latest firmware. I tried seus and couldnt even get the firmware becase i have the latest firmware apparently
Just simply reflash the baseband even if it crash once or twice :/

after i flash the baseband how do i go back to 1.6 because theres no longer a option to root my phone on flashtool just to flash

Why are you trying to go to 1.6 if you're gonna use a custom ROM? The ROMs all require you to start from 2.1 and there is no way to turn your phone into a "paperweight", great part about modding X10s, its almost impossible to brick.

If I (or anyone for that matter!) help you, dont be afraid to press THANKS!
i figured if i start over from scratch i can have a "clean" phone with no memory of any roms or baseband changes on my phone and I can switch roms with ease. As of right now i have firware 2.1b and baseband .52 but on the phone it shows "unkown base band" from my current posiion i cant use flashtool besides flash so im kinda stuck i cant go forward or backward so im kinda in limbo
If you are getting baseband unknown just go to dev tools>bad behaviour>crash system server. If that doesn't work you have an incompatible baseband.
I have 2.1b firmware and Im trying to root and switch to a custom rom... im currently stuck
Use flash tool to root
Install recovery then rom

[Q] Installed Cyanogen CM7 - Boot loop - Please help, desperate.

My x10 is stuck in a boot loop after I flashed the ROM.

Same Issue I think
I think I am having the same issue but when my x10 boots it goes to unlock screen and then I have this loop with "The application ADW.Launcher(process.android.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. The device then flashes the Cynogen loading screen and goes back to the unlock screen where I get the same message and the same loop. My xrecovery doesnt work and I cant seem to get the phone to use the SE update manager because it also says its up to date and doesnt provide a repair option. Can anyone help with this? I dont care which android os I go to at this point as long as it will work.
You probably need to use flashtool to flash the .52 baseband fix. Unless you have .52 already.
If that doesnt work, try flashing 2.1 totally over again with flashtool.

Can someone link me a guide as to how to flash the ROM with flash tool?
I flashed the baseband with it but I used xrecovery for the ROM itself because I could not work out how to use the flash tool.
I'll try reflashing the baseband when I get home tonight.

To get out of the bootloop just flash back to 2.1 and start over again. And make sure to follow the instalation instructions given by the dev when flashing the rom.
I still can't work it out.
The ROM is in a .zip file and the flash tool doesent seem to be picking it
up and when I unzip it there are no selectable files.

The file you use in flashtool is an .ftf file

Then what do I do with a .zip?
yes, you DO flash the .zip file with xrecovery. step one, flash bb with flashtool, step two, start phone in xrecovery and flash .zip, reboot, and it should work.

first try SEUS that comes on your ROM( left click SE icon in 'my computer' install) if that one doesn't work, uninstall and install SEUS from SE site, but one of them will say 'repair'

Yeah, that's what I did the first time.
I just tried it again. Same problem.
Phone turns on, boots, sits on home screen for a few seconds then restarts.
Why would this happen?
EDIT: I managed to check the baseband version int he few seconds the phone was on, it says it is unknown. Would this cause this problem?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
The ftf files you need are on the second post. Just put the ftf file in the firmware section of the flashtool then flash it and follow the on screen instructions.
With baseband unknown go to the app on your phone called dev tools then go to bad behaviour and crash system sever when the phone reboots you should have signal and baseband will no longer be unkown.
I tried that, It keeps telling me I have my old Cyanogen mod for 2.2 installed when I do it.
In the process of running SEUS, hopefully it puts me back to 2.1

No, i dont think that is the cause of the rebooting cause ii get that a lot but the phone never reboots on me, what kernel are you on. Cause a lot of the custom kernels reboot when the screen is off or when you have the cpu up too high.

[Q] Phone on loop after installing wrong kernel!

Hiya guys,
I use XDA Developers a lot but it seems that I have f***ed up my phone. I wanted to go back to stock rom from CM 7.2, but Sony PC Companion didn't recongize my phone, so I decided to do it manually. While trying to do it, on flash tools I clicked on the wrong kernel and re-locked the boot loader without getting rid of CM7.
Now... here is the problem. I have tried to restore the phone via Sony PC Companion but it says something about no updates for my phone even though I clicked on repair, but it also doesn't recognize it as a X10i (just says Sony / Sony Ericsson phone). And I tried to fix it using Flashtools (different versions) but it still doesn't work...
Anyone able to help me. I would really really be grateful as I am using a O2 XDA Steller at the moment and its proper sh*t :S
I had the same problem, so I did RESTORE in my RECOVERY and then everything worked out. and I flashed different kernels to use recoveries to see where was my backup
