Gotta say, was a bit skeptical about doing this whole wire thing but gave it a shot and some how managed to land it on the second try! I hear how complicated it seemed and think that's what intimated me. But to anyone questioning it, go for it!
Congratulations

Nothing can possibly go wrong with your phone. If u miss the timing then u just have to keep doing it until u get it otherwise u have a softbrick. Luckily I s-offed my first attempt!

Second try. Wow lol. It took me about an hour of failed attempts. Congrats!

I did it first time with wire but had to restart the program several times to get it to recognize. It kept stalling on "cannot find daemon" so ctrl+c then restart. Fyi don't panic.

OK MAKE THAT SORTA PERM UNLESS U PULL THE BATTERY...LOL
Recently i posted a thread where i was able quite by chance to shut down and restart my temp rooted evo 3d quite by accident. I have experimented with this method and it is stable, dependable and works, i do not loose root when i power off, and power back up.
Its as simple as this on my temp rooted evo 3d, hit the power button to get the shut down choices window, i choose power off (shut down) and as the evo starts to shut down and the screens start to change i hit the power button a few times, the evo powers completly off.. And i power it back on, and it boots up and has root as confirmed by titanium backup and cpu master.
Thats it folks... My evo 3d does it ! Wether yours will..i dont know..
It may ulitmatly depend on how you rooted it..not sure..

Remove the battery, do you still have root?
doesnt work for me
plus theres situations where 3D freezes and u have to pull out battery
so wouldnt call it permanent root
Do you have fastboot checked? Have you tried a battery pull?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Your basically fast booting it but cool story bro !
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
That because you have fastboot enabled. Uncheck that and power down. I bet you

Ok ok.. Look i just posted what i see it doing... I passed it along to help others...
Not sure where fast boot is..but ill find it and see if its checked, and..even i.. Am pretty sure that if we pull the battery its going to vaporize the root...
Sorry didnt mean to make a false alarm..its midnight and brain is in sprint employee mode...( no i dont work there..just saying i was being dumb..) lolololol

I am trying to find a save with 100% complete since cheats aren't supported yet...
Tried swapping it with PC saves but not working so far...
Why not just play through it and enjoy it? Getting a 100% just to do what, drive around and run from cops? Boring...
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
I did on the Ps2, too impatient to do it again with a touch screen lol
Why do you want 100% though? And it hasn't been out that long, if anyone has done 100% I'd be bloody amazed haha

We apologize for the issues you have experienced with the bootloader unlock for your HTC Evo 3D. HTC is aware that some individuals have been having difficulty with the unlock process and is current investigating the issue. At this time, we do not have an estimated time for a resolution.

why do we care? Who would ever use HtcDev AGAIN.....
I just want to flash Roms freely as I did on my EVO. This crap sucks..I don't understand why they had to screw with it..so now its a 12 step process to root..
They are trying to make it so that it cannot be downrev'd.
Is this the file that needs changed? Add a zero on the first and ones on the last two?

The reason they made things like that to root was to keep the folks who don't know enough about it from doing it... They get tired of warranty claims when someone bricks a phone because the user had no idea what they are doing.. Same goes for people who overclock and push it too high and burn the cpu up...
Too keep things like that from happening.

That seems like a whole lot of hassle just to prevent a small fraction of it's user base from fully utilizing their phones.
I'm confident that we only take up a small portions of claims in their warranty department. Maybe they should put more effort into making a phone that keeps up with the competition and lasts.

My phone just blanketed my screen with a notification that there's a Service update. Simply written "The update is complete and changes will now be applied"
Kinda irked cause it didn't notify me that there was one that i could simply DOWNLOAD, no it just downloads it, and wants to apply it RIGHT away. What the hell is this new update? i'm pretty sure a'lot of you are going to see this pretty soon, otherwise i can only cancel it by pressing home, but it KEEPS COMING BACK.
Edit: should i really be scared about it? i mean the boot loader is already unlocked by HTCDev, should i REALLY care about this update? well besides getting rid of root... now that i think about it.. but then again. I might just let it do it so everyone knows what version it is, and what exactly it entailed. i swear if i get locked out of root from this ill get mad, but whatever. xD FOR SCIENCE!!!!!!! as it were
Edit2: sooo now im feeling kinda dumb, i just realized that it could have possibly just done a profile update itself, the notification went away after pressing ok, but the device didn't reboot. but then again i dont see anything that could have updated. WTf did i just experience? XD does this phone have some ability to update the profile or PRL itself?
Check your prl # in settings and tell us what it says
Edit: yea nvm that was deff. a profile update no worries needed your good

Dirty dancing???
Also, One X is getting a SW update from HTC to remove the bottom menu bar. Wish we could be so lucky. Of course, I would wait til devs release a rooted version and never accept from HTC. I did think it was cool of HTC to address that promptly, though.

Just brought my white evo that had a manufacturer defect with the vibration function. And got it exchanged for another one and it came outta the box with hboot 1.12! I'm a very happy camper considering the first one I got came with hboot 1.15 outta the box. Now I just gotta root it and unlock the bootloader. Can somebody point me in the right direction?

Well not so much broken as it was defective, had the phone vibration and haptic feedback turned on but it would never vibrate so I tried doing a factory reset and it didn't help. Took it in and sprint thought that a reset would do the trick but it didn't work. Either way I'm glad my phone wasn't working properly cuz now I have one with hboot 1.12
