Motospeak won't work on S3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Motospeak speech to text app won't work on my S3 When I install and try to use it my whole text messaging screen went black and said text messaging unavailable must be conflicting with stock messaging.Very disappointed I liked the Motospeak app it had many good features.
I had to re-flash the stock firmware from Samsung update site and re-root again and then messaging came back to normal
I hope this was of some help to everyone I think there may be some problems with text messaging.
Thank you and have a good day!

[Q] Stock (htc) Messenger Not Splitting SMS

Hi, I am a somewhat new user here starting originally with xtrsense 4.6.5. I am now using v 5.0.1 but I believe all the xtrsense roms use the original sense message app from stock 2.1.
My issue is that the messenger doesn't seem to split the messages up before sending them. From what I have read this isn't a problem for verizon users but I am not on verizon. I have set up my apn, prl, and everything else manually to get the phone to work, but this is the one last bug that I haven't been able to solve.
I know that I could use go sms or handcent, but I kinda like just sticking with htc's messenger. Does anyone know which files I could edit to help change this. I just downloaded the android sdk today so that I could poke around from the computer instead of just on the phone itself with a file manager. Also out of curiosity, where is the mms max message size stored? I think the default 1.2Mb is working fine but I want to play with some of the mms settings to see if I can get a better quality receiving/sending. I think it's just that my user agent isn’t really understood on this carrier, so I should change it to an android phone that they do have.

[REQ] Stock Froyo mms.apk non-rooted

Is there any way to port the stock messaging apk to a non-rooted mt4g (2.2.1)? Ive been looking for this for awhile and cant find a solution. Im trying to add it along side the htc messaging app which is really slow and fc's a lot. So is there a dev that can try to make this successful for me please!
Btw: Ive already tried Handcent, chomp sms, and go sms and none have satisfied me.
Thanks

[Q] Stock GB SMS app (or simular) in ICS?

Hi, after using my HTC Hero since it was launched I finally recieved an SGSII at work.
I really love the phone, and have been able to tweak most things to my likings, but the iPhone-wannabe-ish SMS thread viewer is definately not to my taste. No big issue, ofcourse, but I'm still posting about it in case some of you skilled Android-hackers/users have an easy solution. On my Hero I really loved the look of the SMS app in FroydVillain (Froyo) and Decked (GB). I'm honestly not sure, but I think they both ran stock unthemed SMS apps. Black baground, white text, clean interface without those silly bubbles. I've been trying to do a Google image search but haven't found out how the stock SMS app really looks in ICS so I don't know if the cartoonish iPhone-bubbles are from TW or AOSP.
I dont want some bloated and ugly SMS apps like Handscent or Go SMS that I've heard cause problems like duplicate sms-es.
Also, since the phone is my eployer's I want to avoid flashing/rooting it, so simply installing mms.apk from a different ROM is not possible afaik.
So, any suggestions? I guess I'm sort of hoping someone already compiled a binary/apk based on mms.apk that can easily be installed and used as the default messaging app.

I900 after ics upgrade : sms are limited to 160 caracters

Hi,
Last night i upgraded my wife's s2 to ics and it worked perfectly but now we have found that the stock sms app cannot create sms with more than 160 caracters and it's not automatically changing to mms.
I'm doing many searches on google and inside this forum but nothing found so far. I have installed 2 other apps but my wife prefer to keep the stock lne as she's used to it (and doesn't like changes).
Do you have any idea to resolve it (without rooting and unlocking or installing another rom)
Thanks in advance for your help

Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
Thanks for your advice, we are already looking at other apps but my wife was very used to the stock app and does not want to change if possible. So ic somebody has an idea of how to resolve that issue that comes from ics upgrade (it was working fine with previous version).

Only if you ROOT the device.
Trust me there are very easy ROOT and UNROOT methods for ICS unlike gingerbread

[Q] Help! I can't send text messages but.....

It's been a week now and I still can't send any text messages.
I receive msgs but unable to respond back...
I thought it was because I finally updated to Jellybean (I've had ICS for awhile so I thought I should just stick to that) but then I downgraded last night to ICS and I still can't send messages.
well today I tried fixing it but still no luck, although I tried sending an MMS instead, I sent myself a picture and it worked! even tried it to other numbers and they received it. I also tried adding a text with the picture and it did work. but it's still not working when I just type in a text...
so anyway in short, I can't send SMS but can send MMS (and receive messages as well)
also extra: I can call people but whenever they call me it comes up as unknown number...
Does anyone of you know what might be the problem? How can I fix it? Thanks
EDIT: and btw I already checked the message centre number and it has the right number in it so I don't think the issues w/ that
I suggest using titanium backup to store user apps and data, then using mr.cook's rom wipe script to allow you to start from a blank slate, then re-install the desired firmware (whatever version)
You could work at fixing this issue individually, but (to me) it's a sign that something more fundamental went wrong, and that other issues may be soon to follow.
It isn't clear whether you upgraded to a stock jellybean, or maybe a 4.1.2 custom jellybean, or maybe a 4.2.2 custom jellybean, or a 4.3 jellybean. The latter, a 4.3 upgrade from ICS has the highest potential for weird issues if a thorough rom-wipe isn't conducted... whichever path was taken, The i777 runs all versions of jellybean well, and something like this suggests that the "upgrade" was not conducted from a clean slate, hence the suggestion for a rom-wipe and re-install.

can't text
Are you unable to text because a keyboard won't open? My daughter couldn't text (never figured out why - she always had a keyboard appear) so she got a replacement, and when I inherited her phone because mine has battery issues, I go through periods when I can't text because no keyboard appears. I have to into settings and play around with assigning a default keyboard before it will finally appear. Doesn't matter if I'm using the stock keyboard or one I've downloaded from a VERY reliable source - I still have to reassign and reassign and reassign to make it work. Powering off the phone doesn't do a thing.
