I'm a network engineer, and design tester. I know about IP calculators, remote console apps and WIFI tools, but what are some other apps that I might be missing that could help me out in my day-to-day?
It's VLC, and try many apps from cisco in Google play

Using some nifty Android emulation inside of a gadget, you can play and run premium Android applications as if your PC was an Android device.
The install of the program was painless after a 117MB download. The program runs in the background, waiting for you to spawn an instance of one of your favorite apps. What is excellent on Bluestack’s part is that they include 10 pre-installed apps for you to try it out.
Currently, both the Windows program and Android App are in alpha right now. Bluestacks itself is a very polished release, and does not feel like an early version at all. The Cloud Connect app on the other hand is not nearly as functional. Some force closes were experienced, and some apps would not sync. The largest complaint however is that the Cloud Connect app uses Facebook for authentication. This is a bit puzzling, and probably unnecessary. However, seeing the quality of the Bluestacks program, it is a good bet that the developers will take care of the issues with Cloud Connect, and perhaps find another way to authenticate other than Facebook.

Anyone know how to install it for all users? It is only installed for my user account, and I'd like my family to be able to use it on their accounts.
You mean your windows account ??
Yes. Bluestacks runs fine on my Windows user account, but the gadget is not available for other users. And while the the Start Menu > Bluestacks > Bluestacks Gadget shortcut is available on all user accounts, the shortcut does nothing for them.
I have an idea for an app that is basically am anroid emulator. It doesn't emulate Android, it emulates free Android apps (can't do paid because that would be warez.) You can only use apps that you downloaded from the emulated play store (if possible)

We'd be using dalvik and java. One thing Ubuntu Touch has stayed away from.

Alternatives could be there... But the idea is just a start.

That would be nice!
Do you think it would be realistic for someone to create a computer application that would do most of the app-porting work for the developer?
My take on this...

My take on this is that first off by the time we implement this is in everyone will be mostly using ART. The application can work by emulating a specific Android device with all it's hardware features.
Although we should support both ART and Dalvik for legacy reasons. Not all applications/games I have bought have been from Google Play, Humble Bundle for example allows you to download .APK files direct. I was thinking that we could implement a loading system where you could load the .APK files directly into the application for Dalvik/ART to run it. Also at some stage it should be able to emulate different processor architectures including Tegra and Snapdragon as some games are exclusive to these architectures.
Since the emulator would be set on hardware we could probably trick Google Play into thinking it was a specific and allow us to downloads apps and games direct without question. As well as sideloading.
For me I do want this because I have a feeling that I do still want to play my Android games and run my Android applications even when I am fully into Android. Most of the Android technologies are open, so I can't see any huge reason why this can't work out technically.
Sorry my ideas are all over the place, new things kept popping into my mind of how to do this. I don't feel confident about coding this, but I have a rough idea of how all the pieces would connect together.
I'd love to see this, but it sounds very complex to implement. I know I'd move to Ubuntu ridonkulously fast.
Can anyone advise on a good product and installation method that would protect me system wide using both android apps/chrome apps? For example, if I installed a vpn product through the play store, would it only provide security only in that "sandboxed" android app environment? Or installed to chrome OS, could it provide better security for the whole ecosystem?
I'm using an asus chromebook flip, on stable regular build (54). Thanks
So, I Also have a flip, and I've noticed that when using a VPN like Tor It will only cover android apps, so I'd use Tor and Firefox together to have a VPN'd web browser.
VPN's from Android Only cover android apps,
VPNS from Chrome only cover Chrome.
i was thinking about this myself, since i have a VPN client as a chrome extension. I will enable it and install an android app to test and see if the VPN is working for both
I have to use PIA VPN app for Chrome, and install PIA for Android in Android from the Play store. One does not 'cover' the other. Equally, the Afwall app will only affect Android apps installed.
I use TunnelBear. The Chrome extension only affects Chrome tabs. The Android app seems to affect all apps, including Chrome. I tested by checking my IP address in Chrome and in an Android browser.

In this time when more work from home is needed.
I have downloaded a lot of VPN software, if you also have such troubles, X VPN is the VPN proxy host you need to try.
You must be wondering what X VPN is this?
X VPN is applicable to multiple platforms and is free to use on platforms such as Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, Netflix, and Chrome, etc.
The application is fully automated and can be safely connected to the Internet in any country.
Why not try X VPN? These are the points that I think are very prominent:
Unlimited bandwidth usage
One-click connection
9 safer protocols to choose from
Unblock all apps and websites in any country
IP disappear/IP forgery
Never miss videos & instant massages
Remove control of games such as PUBG GAME
Unblock the school's APP and website

honestly, free vpn is not the best option, they steal ur data and sell it to other advertising companys, but if anything you can use crytostorm and use the free version of that, and is known not to steal any data from youi and is also safe
