[Q] Help To Root My Htc Evo 3D 1.53.0007 ota - HTC EVO 3D

edit : done

Found this in the GSM Development Stickies:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248231

Will this work ??
Please be sure cause some people are experiencing bootloops etc

ANYONE ?!?!

I successfully rooted mine with stock OTA ICS, 1.53.0007 S-on GSM same setup as you. The above thread was pretty much what I used, and I went with the Revolutionary rather than the 4EXT. Note - I am still S-on, there doesn't seem to be a solution for this yet, but as long as there are no further updates (and is anyone really expecting any?) we should remain rooted.
Hope this helps.

downgrade hboot fr 1.5 to 1.4

hey guys im trying to find some info on this, i had a friend that just bought and evo3d and since i rooted his ogevo before he wants me to rooted but he has the 2.3.4 hboot 1.5 and im looking around and i have all the info to rooted with htc method but right when i was about to start somebody send me a message he thought he saw something on xda on how to downgrade the hboot so we can use revolutionary so if thats true and somebody has a link or info on it i would appreciate it if not is cool ill guess ill try htc method but ill wait for a little to see if thats true, thanx
Don't think it's possible. I searched for this as well. Your best option is to use the prompt / adb option to get what you want on your phone having 1.5 if you have unlocked your hboot through HTC as I did before realizing there were alternative options.
I do have infected Eternity 1.4.2 on my phone and loving it. Just added the infected Anthrax kernel and it's awesome stuff.
E3D's with the 1.49 hboot are able to downgrade but I don't believe anyone has been able to with the 1.50 hboot yet
thanx guys but no i havent even started yet so i havent unlocked anything so u guys recommend using to start off with the htc method?
Unfortunately the HTC method is the only way atm, it's not s-off but as a last resort it's better than nothing. I think they may still honor your warranty as long as your rooting it wasn't the cause of the problem and you return everything to stock before taking it in
iight guys thanx for all the info

s-off hboot 1.5. has it been done yet?

like the title says... is it done yet? been looking and looking for solutions to that question. i'm already rooted using the htc method. but still looking for a way to get s-off.
check the 3D general section, there are a few threads on it with varying info.
short answer though - no
There has been some effort made towards this front, with little success. Whether you think it's a smoke screen, or not, evil devnull, and his team, attempted this around thanksgiving, and couldn't come up with anything. Not sure if revolutionary is quietly working on something, or if they are waiting for the ICS update, or if they are just done with bootloader unlocking, period (I'm not bashing those guys, but they have been eerily quiet since the bootloader changed to 1.5).
The unlocked, non carrier branded GSM guys have found a way to revert back to an eariler bootloader, using the HTC unlock method, and then performing a similar method to what the thunderbolt/evo shift 4g guys did to allow the Hboot to accept a RUU with an earlier hboot.
I think this doesn't get much attention, because the HTC unlock method allows you can do almost everything you could if you had S-OFF. The only thing missing is being able to flash radios.
At this point it wouldn't make sense for devs to come up with a solution now. Not with ICS around the corner
is there a temp root for hboot 1.5?

whats ics?
The only reason why i ask is because, ##data# or what ever it is, i found my midi number using an app in market place, but when i tried to adjust my volume. it doesnt want to work. i was wondering if me having s-on and rooted is affecting it in any way.
Ics is ice cream sandwich new android OS hopefully coming to the EVO 3d early 2012.

[q] htc dev unlocked & s-on

Dear fellow XDA members,
I am in need of some assistance. I just got my HTC EVO VIEW 4G and unfortunately, I accidentally upgraded to Android 3.2 HoneyComb without doing the Revolutionary S-OFF, so currently I did an HTC Dev unlock on my View but it still says "EXPRESS PVT SHIP S-ON RL" and it also updated the "HBOOT-1.14.0005." I tried checking out Revolutionary website and it does not support HBOOT-1.14.0005, so I was wondering what can I do? Do I need S-OFF for anything? I currently have Clockwork Mod installed on my View but it still has S-ON so I was scared about flashing ROMS. I am trying to flash Desensed 1.5 but is scared that I need S-OFF to do so... Can anyone chime in to help me please...
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
PS: BTW, I been searching and reading and rereading.... I just don't understand..
1) You'll need to downgrade to GB
2) you'll then need to run revolutionary for S-OFF
3) you can then re-upgrade to HC S-OFF

I don't think there is anything in the tool, that globatron hasn't already written a guide for on the Flyer. And none of them are hard to do. Anything particular you are trying to do?
ive done the OTA update, and then unlocked using HTC-DEV method becasue my HBOOT is 11.11.0011 and revolutionary didnt liost that hboot as being compatible. Ive been able to install a revolutionary Clockwork mod nad then went ahead and flashed LeeDriods ROM. But now it just starts up with the R2D2 sounds, boots a little and restarts.
Ive been reading and I think it either needs to flashed from fastboot or need to downgrade to GB and relevant hboot.
Also even though I have unlocked the bootlaoder from htc-dev it still says "s-on"?
I'm in the same boat. My flyer is
Hboot 1.11.001
OTA to HC
Unlocked the bootloader using HTC method
Load CW recovery.
Can I just follow the directions to down grade?
sorry to ask people for help again.. but there are alot of guides for unlocking/downgrading/flashing etc. could someone just point me in the right direction of one guide that is applicable to my particular case?
thank you.

I don't know why people keep coming on here and asking why they still have S-On after HTC Unlock. Its never been stated that HTC Unlock gets you S-Off, it just gives you an unlocked bootloader, which is not the same thing.
If you want real S-Off, downgrade and root using globatron's guide:
htthttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307759p://
Then you can upgrade back to HC if you want using the following guide (also by globatron, becuase he's the man). You will also need to have the HC Hboot if you want to flash a HC custom ROM, which is also described in the following guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358758
If you want to flash a custom ROM without getting S-Off, from my understanding you can do so using fastboot. But I haven't seen any step-by-step guide. You might start reading here:

It might be just me but I don't see anything in these guides with anything to downgrade the hboot on 16gb Flyer to gain compatibility with Rev. root method. It is not for me personally but seems others here are having that issue. With those newer hboot versions is there even anything that can be done at this time?
My understanding is that when unlocked with HTC dev you can flash recovery then adb push gb hboot while in recovery then run appropriate gb ruu. Once on gb rev s off then update to hc s off

Or are there still GB Hboot versions not supported by Revolutionary?

[Q] Downgrading h boot

Hi all I am currently using a ics Rom with hboot 1.5 s on my goal is to be able to flash these roms with out using chads fix which helped me a lot thanks chad but it looks like the kernel won't be updated to fix breaks. So I have gone thru forums and have seen downgrading to 1.4 s off. My question is this if I downgrade will I loose the flash I have for metro pcs? And is it nessasary to downgrade to accomplish what I would like to achieve having ics without the breaks. Thank you all for the help.
sorry
Hi again sorry didn't say. I have a HTC EVO 3d cdma
Some roms have built in support for metro (like nocturnal ics), so you could downgrade and then flash one of those.
Or you could do a nandroid of your current setup and restore it after the downgrade process.

Before you attempt to downgrade, please write down all MetroPCS radio/PRI/PRL, etc info. Someone asked a similar question somewhere else about Boost. I believe he warned everyone that it will erase and you need all the info to restore his Boost (MOST LIKELY metroPCS) service.
You can also take a screen shot of the settings as well.

Thanks for the help
Ok Thank you all for your help but let me ask this there's this (wire trick) I hear there's a lot of success and I hear that some fail. If I did choose to use this method would it too remove flashed metro info? And does it have to be h-boot 1.4 s.off to flash the i.c.s roms or can I use 1.5 h-boot s.off? I'm still pretty new to this but starting to get the hang reading what a lot of great people are posting.

From my reading, it seems either is ok. I still would suggest 1.4 s-off as that's what I have and it is solid for me. Roms flash with no trouble and I get no bootloops. But the 1.5 s-off method is easier so maybe someone with 1.5 s-off can report their success rate (ease of flashing roms, stability, etc).

I think that's actually the thread where someone warned about his Boost info getting wiped, I could be wrong.
After s-off is achieved, hboot is sorta irrelevant. You can always flash a new hboot. I'm on eng hboot 1.04.
I upgraded my hboot from 1.4 to 1.58 and my Evo 3d reverted back to sprint, I had to pay again to flash it back to metropcs.
The same happened when I flashed a jelly bean rom. Tried 3 times different roms with no success. I've spent enough money already to buy a 4G LTE.

[Q] Please Help! Trying to use cool ics rom

So as the subject suggest I'm trying to install cool ics rom on my evo 3d cdma hboot 1.58 with a custom recovery rooted with s-off however it installs rather fast restarts and gets hung up at the green HTC logo. I'm sure someone else has had this problem so if someone could point me in the right direction i'd be forever greatful or if anyone has some rom recommendations that are really heavy on performance that would be great too. Im trying to use my evo for gaming. Ive had experience flashing roms before but when something goes wrong like this, I'm clueless.
Im on revo 1.40 s off hboot, and i also have bootloop on coolsens...
I though that i dont have supported hboot for ics kernel like coolexe said on 1st page of his forum. But if you on 1.58 hboot and still bootlooping maybe the answear is firmware... Im not sure but you can try...

Since you're already S-off, why don't you try this link to downgrade hboot : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906172
Also, check your firmware if updated.
