How do you add audio to boot animation (AOPK 7.3) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!
(do I need to convert the mp3 to an OGG file?)

I'm pretty sure it takes an mp3 file? Just put your mp3 file at /system/media/ and name it "boot_audio.mp3"
The instructions are repeated under Rom Control > General UI (they're greyed out under "disable call volume")

Ahhhhh I made a folder boot_audio.mp3, lol. Now the only system/media folder I have is in the ROM zip itself. Is that the one I put it in and reflash?

or just put the file itself into that folder in the phone. adb, root explorer, or any other root access file explorer.

Cool, I think this is in my wheelhouse.

Well I thought I had it but when I was checking my failed work I noticed that my" boot_audio.mp3" is now a " boot_audio.mp3.ogg". I used Ghost Commander to move the file.
Just to clarify it isn't or is the system/media from the ROMs zip itself?
Thanks again, this battle is now a personal challenge, lol.

Ok, this is what you do.
1. Find an mp3 file you like (MP3 file, not an Ogg Vorbis file)
2. Name it "boot_audio.mp3" (case-sensitive)
3. Copy it into /system/media/ on your actual phone (NOT in the ROM zip unless you want to have to reflash your zip)
4. Change the permissions of the file to rw-r--r--.
5. Go to Settings > ROM Control > General UI and make sure that "Disable Boot Audio" is UNCHECKED
6. Reboot.

Thanks for the total walk through. Got it working this morning!

marked in red is only in AOKP. So unless you know that the user is running AOKP, this is unnecessary
Just an FYI post.

Is there a way to increase the volume of the boot_audio.mp3? Mine is playing ridiculously low for some reason.

I think the boot sound volume fix is already been applyed, the best fix is in the build prop: persist.sys.boot_volume=100. that's the loudest i, think it can get until the AOKPs find a way to increase it some other way. But as far as my understanding of this its a temporary hit and miss kinda deal. I maybe wrong here,if I am I'm sorry for the missleading post and will remove and or edit with correct info...(if needed but I think I'm right...lol..lol )

Not on the phone. You would have to load that mp3 into an audio editing program on a computer and increase the volume of the file itself.

HI, I'm also looking into increasing my boot audio volume I took a look at the build prop. But I can't find this line (persist.sys.boot_volume=100) anywhere do I just edit the file and write it into there? I'm running AOKP 7.3 also. PS I have used sound forge and Increased my Volume 1000% I only here a little Difference. Sorry If this Isn't the right place to ask this.

I'm pretty much a noob myself, but RootTools app has an option to choose a few diff boot anims. Not sure about shutdowns.
Read read and read. That's how I learned. You need to be rooted, use root explorer (an app) and just push it. Meaning of push, its cut/copy and paste.

Most all of them you flash in clockworkmod.
There is a lot of them in the bible
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991267
tru dat! you got 2 options:
- Flash in CwMRecovery
or
- Push bootanimation.zip into /system/media
Like a kernel or modem, bootanimations do not really require a flash at 100% battery or clearing of settings in CwMRecovery if you choose to flash it. Some bootanimations are not flashable and require you to push them into /system/media. Always read the OP will generally explain if it is flashable or not.
***I highly recommend you push it yourself. Its not hard at all and will allow you to be more familiar with your file system***
- just find the "bootanimation.zip" that you want
- move it to ur phone
tip* i've found i like to archive all bootanimations on my PC for future reference do so or skip this next step
- browse to /system/media/bootanimation.zip(this is your original) copy it to archive
- browse to where you put the bootanimation.zip you want and select "move"
- browse to /system/media/ and select paste
- select replace
- reboot phone and voila! now you have ur new bootanimation and you feel more comfortable moving system files around. Aren't you smart ur mom would be proud. Good luck!

check my post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019858
its on shutdown animations.
for boot animations.
its the same method
but the bootanimation is just in the "system/media" folder...called "bootanimation.zip"
It can be taken from any ROM from the "system/media" folder and placed in your "system/media" folder on your phone and your done.
This will make more sense after you read my forementioned post.
::thanks?::

Not sure which one you are trying to get on your phone.. Some animations need to be flashed through recovery.

[Q] Start Up Sound File Missing after Flashing Android Revolution HD

Need some help.
I followed the effen manual to flash a new ROM for my HCT Desire HD on Monday, December 12th with absolute success (thanks to the author of that procedure). However, I have lost the start up sound file and when I boot my android, it boots in quiet mode. I searched for a solution and found many threads explaining how to disable it, but very little on how to enable it.
The problem is when I open my SDcard and look in the media/audio/notifications all I have is a facebook.mp3 file, I do not have any other files that would allow for the start up sound to open on boot.
I'm hoping someone can put some light on this topic and suggest on how I can fix this issue. Obviously, after I flashed to android revolution HD, somehow the files were deleted.
Patiently hoping..........
I am also interested in this.
When I flashed CyanogenMod 7 on my LG Optimus One,the boot sound disappeared.
I need it back too
Did you get your fix? I'm waiting on my HTC Desire HD with same problem
Normally people dont want start up sound. It just too annoy when it freeze during lesson and you can't switch it on.
To get back.
- check whether the start up sound is disabled (forgot the location of the file)
- check whether you have a start up sound in system/media. It is not in Mp3 format.
You will have either one or both missing

It is not in mp3 format as I said. Forgotten the format. You have to edit the boot animation.zip and add the sound code inside. And you can ask your rom developer to help you

I opened file manager both on my PC and with my HTC and as I said, I don't have the boot animation.zip file. Other threads have mentioned to go to media/notifications and rename it to android_audio.mp3.
Problem is there is no file named android_audio.mp3 or any other file to mention.
A thread mentions to go into media/notifications/bootanimation and change the file name for android_audio.mp3
I go to this directory and all I have is media/notifications............ there is no bootanimation or android_audio file name.
I would like to know how to re-install the bootanimation and android audio file so that I have a start up sound
Go get a bootanimation.zip with sound in xda and paste it into system/media. Then delete the one in data/local

Thanks in advance

The reason you can't see it is due to the file explorer not having root access. Get something like root explorer. A search will lead you to an animation file

I also want to change my boot animation back to the stock sgs2, I tried putting the qmg files in system/media and removing the boot animation.unicorn file, but that didn't work. did you do it manually? Or does anyone know how to on this rom?
you need to push the zip file "bootanimation.zip" into /system/media.
You need to do it with some file explorer like 'Root Explorer' when you are on /system remember set the press the button R/W on the top to give the permissions for writing on this folder
Yep, done all that, but unfortunately the rom doesn't read the stock .qmg files so ended up making a bootanimation.zip from scratch. Now just to get the audio running... I have the PowerOn.ogg file, does anyone know where to put it? Doesn't seem to work in usual system/etc folder

I've successfully changed the bootanimation back to the original stock one by replacing the zip file into system/media, but even i put the Power on.wav into the system/etc, still i've got no sound ...
How can i solve it?!
(Using remix pro 1.1)
Thanks!
Same issue only with v1.4
I have resurrection remix ICS 1.4 and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the audio working for my boot animations. It seems there may be plenty of others who would like an answer to this question. Getting bootanimations to work is no problem but the audio seems to be a mystery.

my guess would be a particular app, probably an mp3 downloader or something that has adds. take a look at the clippings and see if you recognize them from somewhere. find out what app is doing it and shut it down (clear data and force close) in applications manager, and delete the pics. or just delete the app/ find a similar one or pay for the add free version if there is one and see how you go

[MOD] CM12 Louder Volume

Hello everyone.
The main thread for CM12 was closed and so I will be posting the modded mixer_paths.xml here. It will boost headphone volume and speaker volume. Be careful.
UNZIP, the xml is inside. XDA won't let me upload straight xml files. Dum.
Just drop it in /system/etc and fix permissions. Done!
Remember to make a backup of your original.
Thank you so much for this. Works great

Thanks for this. I tried it out and had distortion on music and video. Seems to be just a tad bit to loud. I ended up reverting back to stock.
I was just getting on here to ask for this. And here it is. Good work my friend.
Great Develoment
Not a total newb, but where do I need to go to fix permissions after pasting the file in system/etc?
It depends on your file browser. I use root explorer, just long press the file and it will be an option.

I'm using root browser, and I see options for permissions, but it's to change them for owner, guest, and others. Not sure what they are supposed to be set at, and whether the setting should be for the file I'm moving, the etc folder, or the system folder. Messed around with them but the volume isn't changing.

What file explorer are you using? I asked a question here days ago and - while trying to figure this out for myself - ended up in one of my "efforts" with your same situation. I finally got this to work and may be able to help you.
I redownloaded the file and installed and now works great, must have been a bad download.

Download a root browser. I use fx file Explorer. Click on the system partition and grant it root permissions open up the etc folder and overwrite the mixer_path.xml in there. After that long click on the mixer_path.xml and click details, then click where the permissions are and set them to 0644 then Reboot. Make sure to set the permissions correctly otherwise you won't have sound or end up in a bootloop. Make a nandroid before you do this so incase something happens you can revert back to that.
Edit: download it on your phone and extract it and follow the steps above. No need to do it through a computer. It can all be done from your phone.
Sounds twice as loud, thank you!
